Formula 1 and several teams use AI to turn race data, fan preferences and fans’ own inputs into more tailored ways to follow the sport. Examples include an interactive circuit-design tool that explains strategy, personalized newsletters, a planned 2026 regulations companion, team app features and multilingual article narration. These are different kinds of personalization: some teach, some recommend or communicate, and others make content easier to access. Public announcements describe the tools and their intended capabilities, but do not establish how much they improve engagement or retention.
What does AI personalization mean for an F1 fan?
It means adapting a digital experience to a fan’s interests, questions, choices, language or context rather than giving every supporter exactly the same material. In the F1 examples announced so far, that can mean analyzing a circuit a fan has drawn, adjusting newsletter content to customer segments, answering a regulations question, or reading an article in a selected AI voice.
That does not mean every feature is a live prediction about an actual Grand Prix. Some tools use real or historical racing information; others respond to user-created inputs or customer-profile data. The useful distinction is what information goes in, what the fan does, and what kind of answer or content comes back.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →- Race education: explain how circuit shape, weather, tyres and pit timing affect a hypothetical lap.
- Content and communication: select newsletter material or subject lines based on customer segments and preferences.
- Interactive participation: let supporters use app features such as polls, fan messages or a Race Centre.
- Accessibility and localization: make selected articles available as AI narration in multiple languages.
- Service and learning: answer questions using trusted F1 material and help identify topics fans want explained.
These capabilities should not be treated as interchangeable. A recommendation system chooses what to show; a generative AI system produces or adapts a response; an interactive simulation lets the user change inputs and inspect different outcomes. A single fan-facing product can combine more than one of these patterns.

How does Real-Time Race Track let fans explore strategy?
F1 and AWS launched Real-Time Race Track on 14 May 2025. A fan draws a circuit with a mouse or touchscreen, selects a location, and receives AI-generated analysis of turns and straights, top speed, projected lap time, and two strategy options involving pit timing, tyre recommendations and weather adjustments.
What the fan supplies
The defining feature is that the fan creates the track geometry. The selected location also changes the weather context used in the experience. AWS says Amazon Bedrock supports personalized track creation and Nova Pro provides the analysis. In other words, the personalization begins with the fan’s own design and choices, not only with a profile inferred from past browsing.
What the tool returns
The output is an educational estimate: a projected lap time and two ways of approaching the hypothetical circuit. Amazon Nova is named as the model family behind the experience; Nova Sonic enables voice consultation, while Nova Canvas creates a shareable retro-style poster. That combines analysis, conversation and a visual keepsake rather than limiting the product to a text answer.

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteThe tool is most useful as a way to explore trade-offs. A fan can vary the route and location, then see how the resulting analysis changes. A projected lap time is not a guarantee of what a real car would achieve: the public description does not establish that the fan-designed circuit reproduces every physical, vehicle or race-condition constraint of an actual track. Treat the strategies as an explanation of possible influences, not as team instructions or a forecast of a real race.
AWS says more than one million data points per second come from F1 cars; that is an organization-published figure attributed to Amazon Web Services/Amazon Press Center in 2025. It illustrates the scale of data associated with the sport, but does not mean that every point feeds this fan tool or that its answers are generated directly from a live car stream. F1’s own description of the experience emphasizes designing a circuit and seeing how conditions and choices influence performance.
How are F1 newsletters and fan services tailored?
F1’s Fan Personalisation Programme, described in an AWS case study, connects information from multiple sources through an AWS data lake and links models to Salesforce Data Cloud. The stated uses include AI-written newsletters with dynamic content based on customer segments and subject lines generated to reflect preferences.
This is a different route to personalization from drawing a circuit. The system uses organized customer and profile information to shape a communication, rather than asking a fan to specify every parameter at the moment of use. The intended benefit is relevance: a supporter may receive a newsletter assembled for a segment or a subject line adapted to preferences. The public case description does not provide a measured engagement lift, explain every data field used, or establish that every F1 subscriber receives a unique message.

Matt Kemp, F1’s Senior CRM and Customer Services Manager, described the principle as engaging fans “on their terms” when their data is in the right place and the organization understands what they are doing. That is an organizational goal, not proof of a particular conversion or retention result. More than 827 million global fans is a figure published by Formula 1 and Salesforce in 2026; it is an attributed audience figure, not a count of people reached by any one personalized campaign.
Can AI explain the 2026 F1 technical regulations?
F1 and Salesforce announced an AI fan companion for F1.com for 2026. It is intended to answer questions about the 2026 technical regulations using trusted F1 sources, monitor trending questions, and help shape future educational content.

- Officially Licensed Replica – Authentic styling and branding from the original manufacturer
- Die-Cast Metal Construction – Durable metal body with detailed plastic components
- Highly Detailed Design – Realistic exterior styling and interior details
- Free-Rolling Wheels – Smooth movement for display or play
- Perfect for Collectors & Kids – Great gift for automotive fans
Grounding answers in trusted source material matters for a technical topic: it gives the companion a defined basis for responding instead of asking fans to accept an answer without context. The companion is also designed to serve an editorial purpose. Questions that repeatedly arise can point to regulations or concepts that need clearer explanation. That does not mean the announcement establishes that the companion will be infallible, replace the official regulations, or answer every question in every language.
F1 says its relationship with Salesforce has included unified fan profiles and personalized newsletters and communications since 2022. The companion therefore sits alongside an existing personalization effort rather than representing the only way F1 uses fan data. For a supporter, the intended difference is the ability to ask a question directly instead of waiting for a general explainer or finding a passage unaided.
How do F1 teams use AI and data in their own fan experiences?
Team initiatives have distinct purposes and should not be mistaken for a single championship-wide system. The announced examples span app engagement, marketing, guest check-in and accessible content.
What does Ferrari’s app partnership include?
IBM became Scuderia Ferrari HP’s official Fan Engagement and Data Analytics Partner beginning in 2025. The partnership applies current and historical data to custom insights, personalized content and a reimagined mobile app. Announced app features include a Race Centre, Italian-language support, race summaries, fan messages and interactive polls; additional features were planned during 2025.
These features mix forms of personalization and participation. A Race Centre and summaries help a supporter follow information; language support can make the app more usable for Italian speakers; polls and messages give fans a way to contribute. The announcement does not specify that each feature uses generative AI, so it would be inaccurate to label every app function an AI feature. The data partnership and planned personalization are the relevant AI-and-data context.
How does McLaren personalize its digital and in-person touchpoints?
McLaren’s Salesforce partnership describes audience segmentation, tailored marketing content, personalized app experiences, digital guest check-in, and offers for McLaren Plus subscribers. This is broader than an on-screen chatbot: the listed applications cover marketing, mobile interaction, an event-arrival process and subscriber offers.
The public description does not establish that every subscriber sees a different offer, what criteria determine a segment, or what data is used for each touchpoint. Those are important distinctions when judging how individualized an experience really is. Segmentation can tailor content for a group without creating a unique experience for each person.
How does Aston Martin use AI for language and accessibility?
Aston Martin describes Ai.lonso as a feature that reads selected articles in an AI voice of Fernando Alonso. At launch, it supported English, Spanish and French, with more languages planned. The example shows personalization through how content is delivered: a fan can listen to selected reading in a familiar voice and one of the supported languages, rather than receiving only a standard text page.
The announced scope is selected articles, not all Aston Martin content. “More languages planned” is an intention, not confirmation that those languages have since been added. Availability and supported languages can change, so readers should check the current product before relying on a particular option.

The table also highlights what public descriptions do not settle: whether personalization is individual or segment-based, exactly when a feature is available, and how a fan’s championship and team identities are reconciled. A fan may interact with F1 and several teams, but the announcements cited here do not explain whether those organizations share profile data. Do not assume that a preference supplied to one product automatically carries into another.
What should fans keep in mind about accuracy, privacy and availability?
Personalization depends on inputs and on the boundaries of the product. Before relying on an answer or expecting a feature to appear, distinguish between an announced capability, a stated use case and a result that has been independently measured.
- Separate estimates from race outcomes. A projected lap time for a fan-designed circuit is part of an interactive learning experience, not a result from an actual Grand Prix.
- Check the answer’s basis. The announced 2026 companion is meant to use trusted F1 sources. For formal rules or a consequential interpretation, consult the official material rather than treating an AI response as the authority.
- Look for individual versus group tailoring. Dynamic content for customer segments can be relevant without being unique to one person. Public descriptions do not disclose every segmentation rule or model input.
- Check current product details. Announced plans, launch language and language availability can change. Ferrari’s additional app features were planned during 2025, and Aston Martin described further narration languages as planned; those statements alone do not verify present availability.
- Do not infer performance impact from deployment. AWS/Amazon reported 23 data-driven F1 Insights appearing during broadcasts in 2025, but that is a broadcast figure, not evidence that personalized apps improved retention. The published examples do not include a controlled comparison of conversion or retention outcomes.
For a fan, the practical test is whether a feature makes a specific task easier: understanding a strategy trade-off, finding an explanation, following a team, participating in an app, or listening in a supported language. For F1 and its teams, the harder questions are whether the data is accurate and appropriately governed, whether shared identities are handled clearly, and whether a tailored experience remains useful rather than merely more targeted. The public product descriptions document capabilities and intentions; they do not answer every question about data governance or outcomes.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does F1 use AI to predict who will win a race?
The fan-facing examples described here focus on education, content and interaction, not a public winner-prediction service. A fan-designed track tool returns a projected lap time for its hypothetical circuit, which is different from predicting a Grand Prix result.

Can I use the F1 regulations companion before the 2026 season?
The announcement describes the companion as a 2026 F1.com offering, so it does not establish access before then. Availability can depend on F1’s current rollout and should be checked on F1.com.
Are personalized F1 newsletters based on data shared across every team?
The available descriptions do not establish a shared profile system spanning F1 and all teams. F1 and Salesforce describe unified fan profiles within their relationship, while individual team partnerships are discussed separately.
Is Ai.lonso available for every Aston Martin article?
Aston Martin described narration for selected articles rather than its entire content library. The launch description named English, Spanish and French; language and article coverage may depend on the current feature.
