Deezer is the only service in this comparison with a documented listener-facing control intended to remove fully AI-generated music from search. Deezer announced on 13 October 2026 that a global on/off toggle would arrive before the end of 2026. Spotify’s current approach uses AI Persona badges, AI Credits and recommendation rules, while Apple Music’s official specification provides optional supplier metadata for disclosing material AI use. Neither cited Spotify nor Apple documentation describes a Deezer-style switch that hides all fully AI-generated tracks from search. The distinction matters: a synthetic artist identity, a song made partly with AI, and a recording generated entirely by AI are different things, and each service handles them differently.
Can I block AI-generated songs on Deezer?
Deezer’s announced toggle is designed to exclude fully AI-generated tracks, albums and related artists from search results. It is not a blanket block on every recording that used an AI tool. Deezer says music made by human artists who used limited AI assistance is treated differently from a work generated entirely by AI.

What the planned Deezer toggle removes
The company said the switch would be introduced globally before the end of 2026. With it enabled, search is intended to omit fully AI-generated tracks and albums and the related artist profiles. The announcement describes a search-result exclusion, not deletion of the underlying catalog. It also does not say that the setting removes tracks from recommendations, playlists or an existing library in every circumstance.

Because rollout was still in progress when Deezer made its 13 October 2026 announcement, availability can depend on when the feature reaches a particular account. The announcement did not publish a permanent menu path or a country-by-country schedule. Once the rollout reaches you, look for the announced on/off setting in Deezer’s controls; if it is absent, the account may not have received the feature yet.

What Deezer already does without the switch
Deezer began its AI-detection program in January 2025. Detected tracks remain available to listeners, but Deezer says they receive an AI label and are excluded from algorithmic recommendations and editorial playlists. That means a track can still be played when someone finds it directly, even though it should not be promoted through Deezer’s recommendation surfaces.
In the January 2025 launch announcement, Deezer said its detector found roughly 10,000 fully AI-generated tracks per day, about 10% of daily deliveries at that time. In its October 2026 update, the company reported that more than 42 million AI-generated tracks had been excluded from recommendations between January 2025 and August 2026, and that more than 14 million albums had been tagged. Deezer also said it was receiving nearly 90,000 fully AI-generated tracks per day, exceeding 50% of total daily deliveries on peak days. Those are Deezer’s own platform counts, not an independent census of the entire streaming industry.
How Deezer’s detector and labels should be interpreted
Deezer launched a free detector in June 2026 that can scan playlists from 20 major streaming platforms. Deezer reports 99.8% accuracy for that tool. The published figure is a company claim, and the announcement does not provide an independent, apples-to-apples benchmark against Spotify or Apple Music. It also does not establish how the detector performs on every genre, language, model or mixed human-and-AI production.
Recommended Free Tools
A separate Deezer and Ipsos blind test in 2025 found that 97% of respondents could not distinguish fully AI-generated music from human-made music. In the same survey, 80% agreed that fully AI-generated music should be clearly labeled, and 73% said they wanted to know if a service recommended fully AI-generated music. Those findings explain the emphasis on labels and user choice, but they do not measure detector accuracy.
Deezer CEO Alexis Lanternier described the policy as “shaping a future based on transparency and choice, with respect for artists, song writers and music fans.” He also said users would be able to remove this content and focus on human creators and creations if they wished. The practical limit is the definition of “this content”: Deezer’s stated target is fully AI-generated music, not every track that contains an AI-assisted element.

Does Spotify have an AI-music filter?
Spotify’s documented tools identify and disclose AI involvement, but the cited announcement does not describe a listener-controlled switch that removes all fully AI-generated tracks from search. Its main product distinction is between an AI-generated artist identity and AI use in a particular recording.
What an AI Persona badge means
Spotify announced AI Persona badges on 11 August 2026, with rollout beginning in mid-September. A badge identifies an artist profile that may represent an AI-generated identity. Artists can disclose the status themselves, while Spotify can review profiles and apply a badge. When Spotify applies a badge after review, it says the artist receives notice and an opportunity to appeal.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →The badge concerns the public identity presented by the profile, not proof that every song on that profile was generated by AI. A human performer could use synthetic artwork, a virtual persona or other technology without every recording being fully machine-generated; conversely, a profile without an AI Persona badge is not established by this policy as proof that all of its music was made without AI.
How Spotify treats AI Personas in discovery
Spotify says AI Personas will not be included by default in editorial or algorithmic recommendations. There is an important exception: a listener who follows an AI Persona may still encounter that music. This is recommendation treatment rather than a global search exclusion, so it gives Spotify a different control boundary from Deezer’s announced toggle.
What Spotify AI Credits add
Spotify also describes AI Credits, which allow artists to disclose how AI was used in the creative process. The credit can provide context about production without asserting that the artist identity is synthetic or that the entire sound recording was generated by a model. Spotify’s related initiatives include Verified by Spotify, SongDNA and Artist Profile Protection. These are attribution, provenance or identity tools; the cited announcement does not present them as a universal listener filter.

Does Apple Music label AI-generated songs?
Apple Music’s cited official mechanism is an optional supplier metadata field, not a documented consumer-facing filter. Apple Music Specification 5.3.27 defines an <ai_transparencies> block that suppliers can use when AI affects a material portion of a composition, sound recording, music video or artwork.
What the Apple specification actually says
The specification allows suppliers to mark material AI use in the delivered metadata. It also states that if the tag is omitted, none is assumed. In other words, omission means the package carries no AI-transparency tag under that specification; it is not independent confirmation that no AI was used.
The cited Apple document does not establish that Apple Music independently detects AI-generated recordings, displays a consistent listener label in every client, or lets subscribers filter AI music from search and recommendations. Those capabilities should not be inferred from the existence of the metadata field. Apple’s approach, as documented here, depends on information supplied with the content package rather than a published consumer switch.
What is the difference between Deezer, Spotify and Apple Music?
The services operate at different layers: Deezer targets the recording and search result, Spotify distinguishes the artist identity from the creative process, and Apple documents a delivery-metadata field. Comparing them as if they offered the same kind of “AI label” produces misleading conclusions.
| Comparison point | Deezer | Spotify | Apple Music |
|---|---|---|---|
| Listener control | Announced global toggle excludes fully AI-generated tracks, albums and related artists from search before the end of 2026 | No cited global exclusion toggle; badges and recommendation treatment are documented | No listener filter is stated in Apple Music Specification 5.3.27 |
| What is identified | Fully AI-generated music; limited AI assistance in human work is treated differently | AI-generated artist identity through AI Persona, plus creator-supplied AI Credits about process | Material AI use disclosed by supplier metadata for a composition, recording, video or artwork |
| Discovery treatment | Detected tracks are excluded from algorithmic and editorial recommendations; the toggle affects search | AI Personas are excluded from recommendations by default, but followed profiles may still appear | Discovery treatment is not established by the cited specification |
| Detection or disclosure model | Deezer detection, AI labels and a listener toggle | Artist self-disclosure, Spotify review, AI Persona badges and AI Credits | Optional supplier-delivered metadata; omission means no transparency tag is assumed |
Which service lets you avoid AI music most directly?
If your priority is avoiding fully synthetic recordings in search, Deezer is the clearest choice once its announced toggle is available on your account. It is the only service in this comparison that has documented a listener-facing exclusion aimed specifically at fully AI-generated tracks and albums. Spotify can reduce recommendation exposure to profiles identified as AI Personas, but it does not document a universal search switch. Apple’s documented option is disclosure metadata, not filtering.

Choose Deezer when search exclusion is the priority
Deezer’s model is the most direct for a listener who wants a binary choice. Turn the announced control on when it appears, and searches are intended to omit the defined category of fully AI-generated music. Keep the scope in mind: a human-made track that used an AI vocal editor, mastering assistant or another limited tool is not automatically covered by Deezer’s stated rule.
Choose Spotify when identity and process context matter
Spotify’s badges answer a different question: does this profile present an AI-generated artist identity? AI Credits can answer how AI participated in making a work. That combination may be more informative for listeners who want context rather than a blanket exclusion, but it requires reading the profile or credit information and accepting that a followed AI Persona can still enter recommendations.
Use Apple’s metadata as a disclosure signal, not a block
Apple Music’s specification can carry a supplier’s disclosure about material AI use, which may help downstream services display information consistently. It does not, in the cited document, promise that every relevant recording is tagged or that listeners can hide untagged or tagged music. Treat the field as one transparency signal among the metadata delivered with a release.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What counts as fully AI-generated music versus AI-assisted music?
Fully AI-generated music is the category Deezer says its detector and announced toggle target: the track or album is generated entirely by AI rather than being a human performance or composition that merely uses a limited automated tool. AI-assisted music includes human-created work where software helps with tasks such as editing, arrangement, mastering, sound design or another part of production. The available data does not provide a universal industry test for the boundary, so labels can differ by platform policy and supplier disclosure.

Apple’s <ai_transparencies> field similarly refers to material AI use in specified creative assets. Deezer’s filter is narrower: it is about fully generated tracks and albums, while the service says limited AI use by human creators is not the target.

What are the limits of these AI-music policies?
- Different objects are being labeled. Deezer focuses on recordings and albums, Spotify’s AI Persona focuses on an artist profile, and Apple’s field covers supplier metadata for several asset types.
- Search and recommendations are not the same. Deezer’s announced toggle affects search, while its existing detection policy and Spotify’s Persona policy address recommendation systems. A track absent from recommendations may still be reachable directly.
- Company figures are not a common benchmark. Deezer’s 99.8% detector accuracy, delivery counts and tagged-album totals come from Deezer. No independent apples-to-apples test covering all three services is established here.
- Labels do not prove the entire creative history. A Persona badge does not prove that an individual recording is AI-generated, and Apple’s omitted metadata does not prove that no AI was used.
- Policies can change quickly. Deezer’s toggle was announced for rollout before the end of 2026, and Spotify’s badge rollout began in September 2026. Check the current service documentation and account controls when making a decision.
How should listeners use these labels in practice?
- Define what you want to avoid. Decide whether your concern is fully synthetic recordings, synthetic artist identities, any material AI contribution, or simply undisclosed content.
- Check the control’s scope. On Deezer, the announced setting is limited to fully AI-generated tracks, albums and related artists in search. On Spotify, read the AI Persona and AI Credit information separately. On Apple Music, look for transparency metadata supplied with the release.
- Separate direct access from discovery. Recommendation exclusion does not equal catalog deletion. Deezer says detected tracks remain available, and Spotify says followed AI Personas may still appear.
- Record the date of the policy you rely on. Rollouts and labeling rules are changing during 2026, so an option described in an announcement may not yet be visible in every account.
Bottom line: which approach is strongest?
Deezer has the strongest documented answer for listeners who want to exclude fully AI-generated music from search, provided the announced toggle has reached their account. Spotify offers the richest documented distinction between a synthetic artist identity and AI use in a creative workflow, but not a universal exclusion switch. Apple Music provides an optional supplier disclosure field and no documented listener filter in the cited specification. None of the three systems, on the evidence available here, should be treated as a complete guarantee that every form of AI involvement will be identified.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will Deezer’s toggle delete AI-generated songs from my playlists?
Deezer’s announcement describes excluding fully AI-generated tracks, albums and related artists from search results. It says detected tracks remain available to listeners, but it does not specify whether the new setting removes items already saved in every playlist or library view.
Can a song have AI Credits on Spotify without an AI Persona badge?
Yes. AI Credits describe how AI was used in the creative process, while an AI Persona badge concerns the apparent identity of the artist profile. They address different questions and are not interchangeable labels.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesDoes missing Apple Music AI metadata prove a song was made by humans?
No. Apple Music Specification 5.3.27 says omission means no transparency tag is assumed in the delivered package. That is a metadata state, not an independent finding about the recording’s production.
Are Deezer’s AI-music percentages an industry-wide estimate?
No. Deezer’s counts of detected tracks, tagged albums and daily deliveries describe activity on Deezer’s own platform. They should not be read as a census of all streaming services or all music released globally.
