Cyberpunk 2077 saves cannot be transferred into The Witcher 3, and The Witcher 3 saves cannot be transferred into Cyberpunk 2077. Each game has its own cross-progression system for moving saves between supported platforms of that same game. A linked CD PROJEKT RED account helps sync those saves; it does not merge the games or convert one game’s save into the other’s.
Does Cyberpunk 2077 cross-save with The Witcher 3?
No. The games have separate save systems and separate cross-progression instructions. A Cyberpunk 2077 character, inventory, quest progress, achievements, and world state do not become The Witcher 3 data, and Witcher 3 progress does not become a Cyberpunk save.
Cross-progression is a same-game feature: it can carry a Cyberpunk save between supported versions of Cyberpunk 2077, or a Witcher save between supported versions of The Witcher 3. There is no documented save-conversion process between the two titles.

How do the two games’ cross-progression systems compare?
The basic idea is similar in both games: connect the same CD PROJEKT RED account and use the cloud save on another supported platform. The scope and compatibility rules remain specific to each game.

There are small differences in how the games describe the cloud behavior. Cyberpunk 2077 says cross-progression provides the latest save for every save type, including Quick, Auto, and Manual saves. The Witcher 3’s instructions say its latest saves are automatically uploaded to the cloud and then made available through Load Game on another platform. In either case, the process is about continuing the same game elsewhere—not carrying every kind of progress into another title.
Neither system removes the need to check the destination version. A supported platform, the same account, and compatible game content all matter. A save can exist in the cloud and still fail to load if the destination lacks required expansion content or has a mismatched mod setup.
How do I move a Cyberpunk 2077 save to another platform?
Use the in-game cross-progression feature, not a Witcher 3 save or a separate account merge. CD PROJEKT RED says the feature provides the latest save for every save type, including Quick, Auto, and Manual saves.
- Update Cyberpunk 2077 on the platform holding the save and on the destination platform. Cross-progression is available only across supported versions of the game.
- On the original platform, open Load Game and select the Cross Progression control.
- Connect the game to your CD PROJEKT RED account and create a save. Use the account you will sign into on the destination platform.
- Open Cyberpunk 2077 on the destination platform, sign in to that same account, and find the cloud save through Load Game.
The important handoff is the save created after connecting the original game to the account. If you only link an account but do not create a save, the expected cloud save may not yet be available to load on the other platform. Afterward, look for it within Cyberpunk 2077’s Load Game menu; it will not appear as a Witcher 3 save or as a shared file outside the game.
The feature syncs the game’s latest saves across supported platforms; it does not make progress portable into The Witcher 3. CD PROJEKT RED notes that regional restrictions can limit cross-progression on some console versions, so a missing save is not always an account-linking problem.
How do I move a Witcher 3 save to another platform?
The Witcher 3 uses its own cloud-based cross-progression. Its latest saves are automatically uploaded to the cloud and can be accessed from Load Game on another platform after you connect the same CD PROJEKT RED account.

- Launch the game on the destination platform and connect the same account.
- Open Load Game and select the available cross-progression save.
Nintendo Switch players should use the cross-progression feature introduced in update 4.04 to carry saves between platforms. CD PROJEKT RED says that this replaced the earlier GOG and Steam cloud-save integration for this purpose.
For PS4-to-PS5 transfers, CD PROJEKT RED directs players to the cross-progression process introduced in update 4.0. The PS4 version must be updated to patch 4.04 for that process. This is a Witcher 3 version and platform-generation procedure; it is not a route for moving a Witcher save to Cyberpunk 2077.
As with Cyberpunk, check for the save inside the destination game’s Load Game menu after signing in. The same account must be used on both ends, and the destination still needs to contain the game content that the save requires.
What does a linked CD PROJEKT RED account actually do?
The account is the sign-in layer used to access a game’s cross-progression feature across supported platforms. It does not make Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 save formats interchangeable, and linking it should not be mistaken for combining game progress.
CD PROJEKT RED also describes the account as supporting My Rewards digital goodies. That is separate from cross-progression: the account connection is not a save conversion or a way to turn a reward into a save from the other game.
For cross-progression, consistency is the practical rule: sign in to the same account in the same game on the original and destination platforms. If the accounts differ, the destination may not show the cloud save you expect. If the save is visible but cannot be loaded, check content and mods as well; account linking alone cannot resolve an edition mismatch.
Can an edition or expansion mismatch stop a save from loading?
Yes. The destination installation needs the game content required by the save. If a save depends on an expansion or DLC that is missing from the destination, the save may not load; installing the required content is the first compatibility check.

CD PROJEKT RED’s guidance for both titles is that the game needs to have the same required content present to load a cross-progression save. The rule is not that every edition must have an identical label: a base-game save can load on the expanded edition in the examples below. The incompatibility runs the other way when the save relies on content absent from the base installation.

Cyberpunk 2077 and Phantom Liberty
A Cyberpunk 2077 save made with the base game, without the expansion installed, can load in the Ultimate Edition. The reverse is not supported: an Ultimate Edition save cannot load in a version that lacks the expansion’s required content. If moving a Phantom Liberty save, make sure the destination installation includes the expansion before troubleshooting the account or cloud sync.
If you are comparing editions before a move, Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition PS5 is relevant only as an edition that includes the expansion content needed by an applicable save. Its existence does not create a Cyberpunk-to-Witcher transfer, and the destination must still be a supported Cyberpunk 2077 version.
The Witcher 3 Complete Edition
A base-game Witcher 3 save can load in the Complete Edition. A save made in the Complete Edition cannot load in a base-game installation that lacks required expansions and DLC. Match the destination’s content to the save before treating it as a cross-progression failure.
The Witcher 3 Complete Edition is relevant when checking whether the destination has the expansions and DLC a save depends on. It does not provide a bridge to Cyberpunk 2077 or change the account requirement.

Can mods or regional restrictions affect cross-progression?
They can. Both games require the same mods to be enabled on both platforms for a modded save to remain compatible. A missing or incompatible mod can prevent a save from loading correctly.
In The Witcher 3, modded saves are marked with a mod.io cog icon. On console, Trophies and Achievements are disabled on modded save files. Separately, CD PROJEKT RED warns that Cyberpunk 2077 cross-progression may be limited for console versions affected by regional restrictions.

When checking a modded save, compare the active mod setup on the source and destination rather than assuming that an account sync will make different configurations compatible. The stated requirement is the same mods on both platforms. For a Witcher 3 console save, the cog icon is also a cue that the save is modded and that console Trophies and Achievements are disabled for it.
Why is my cross-progression save not showing up?
Check the likely compatibility and sign-in issues in this order. A cloud save can be unavailable because the account, game content, platform support, or mod setup does not match—not because the two games share a broken transfer.
- Confirm the game: A Cyberpunk 2077 save only belongs to Cyberpunk 2077; a Witcher 3 save only belongs to The Witcher 3.
- Check the account: Sign in to the same CD PROJEKT RED account on the original and destination platforms.
- Check the source save: For Cyberpunk, open Load Game and use Cross Progression, then create a save. For The Witcher 3, allow the latest save to upload through its cross-progression feature.
- Check destination content: Install the expansion or DLC required by the save. A base-game installation cannot load a save that depends on missing content.
- Check mods: Enable the same compatible mods on both ends. For The Witcher 3, look for the mod.io cog icon on a modded save.
- Check platform and region limitations: Cross-progression is for supported versions, and some Cyberpunk console versions may face regional restrictions. For Witcher 3 PS4-to-PS5 transfer, use the 4.0 process and ensure PS4 is on patch 4.04.
Work through those checks in order rather than changing several things at once: verify the title and account, make sure the source has produced or uploaded the save, then compare destination content and mods. If the save is still absent, confirm that both versions and the relevant platform configuration are supported. The available platform guidance specifically flags regional restrictions for some Cyberpunk console versions, so support should not be assumed for every console region.

Does Cyberpunk cross-progression work from PS4 to PS5?
