Verdict in brief: The Hisense HRCD483TSW is a 483-litre PureFlat Slim French-door refrigerator/freezer for the Australian market. Its appeal is the combination of a relatively narrow 794 mm cabinet, a convertible 92-litre My Fresh Choice compartment, a water tank, automatic ice maker and Wi-Fi. The critical buying questions are whether your kitchen can provide the required ventilation and delivery clearance, whether the flexible compartment matches how your household stores food, and whether those features justify the current displayed price of A$1,899.
The specifications are well documented, but a definitive performance score is not available publicly. The exact model appears on CHOICE with a 2025 test year, while its expert rating and detailed temperature, noise, running-cost and reliability results require membership. This review therefore separates verified specifications and practical fit advice from performance claims that have not been independently published.
What is the Hisense HRCD483TSW?
The HRCD483TSW is sold in Australia as the 483L PureFlat Slim French Door Silver. It has two upper refrigerator doors, a lower freezer section and a separate My Fresh Choice compartment that Hisense says can be changed between refrigerator and freezer settings. The model number matters: similar-looking variants such as HRCD483TS, HRCD483TBW and HRCD483E can have different finishes or specifications, so check the complete suffix on the product page and your invoice.
Hisense lists frost-free operation, an inverter compressor, Wi-Fi connectivity, a door alarm, an electronic water dispenser, an automatic ice maker, Super Freeze and Super Cool modes. These are manufacturer-listed functions, not independent test findings. Claims about improved freshness, lower energy use, durability or odour control should be treated as claims unless a published test measures them.

What are the HRCD483TSW’s main specifications?
The following figures come from Hisense Australia’s model specification sheet dated 23 July 2024. Dimensions are net cabinet measurements unless marked as packaged.
| Specification | HRCD483TSW figure | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| Total advertised volume | 483 L | Hisense’s headline capacity; do not calculate it by simply adding the compartment figures below. |
| Fresh-food volume | 304 L | Refrigerator storage. |
| Freezer volume | 60 L | Dedicated freezer storage. |
| My Fresh Choice volume | 92 L | Convertible area that Hisense describes as switchable between fridge and freezer settings. |
| Water tank | 3.5 L | The sheet lists a tank; it does not establish that a plumbed water connection is required or supported. |
| Net dimensions (W × H × D) | 794 × 1,785 × 698 mm | Use these for cabinet and doorway planning, then add the specified ventilation gaps. |
| Packaged dimensions (W × H × D) | 842 × 1,885 × 744 mm | Use these when checking delivery doors, lifts, stairwells and turning space. |
| Specified clearance | 50 mm each side, 50 mm at rear, 100 mm above | These are Hisense’s cabinet ventilation clearances. |
| Australian energy rating | 4.5 stars | Australian rating scheme; do not compare it directly with a different country’s label. |
| CEC claimed energy use | 344 kWh/year | CEC figure from the Australian specification sheet. |
| PAEC energy use | 341.073 kWh/year | A separate PAEC figure; it is not interchangeable with the CEC number. |
| Acoustic specification | 38 dB(A) | Published product specification, not the locked independent noise result. |
| Warranty | 3 years | Hisense states a three-year warranty; confirm the applicable terms for your purchase location. |
The detailed source is the Hisense HRCD483TSW specification sheet. Keep the CEC and PAEC labels with their numbers when comparing electricity estimates.
How much storage do you really get?
The advertised total is 483 litres, while the sheet separately lists 304 litres of fresh-food space, 60 litres of freezer space and 92 litres in My Fresh Choice. Those three numbers add to 456 litres, not 483 litres. The difference does not prove an error: the headline total includes other listed storage categories and should be reported as the manufacturer’s total rather than reconstructed from the three compartment figures.
For planning, treat the 304-litre fresh-food section as the fixed refrigerator allocation, the 60-litre freezer as dedicated frozen storage and the 92-litre section as capacity whose role changes with your settings. A household that regularly buys frozen food may use My Fresh Choice as extra freezer space; a household that cooks mostly fresh meals may keep it as refrigerator space. Changing modes can improve flexibility, but it also means the effective fridge/freezer balance is a choice you must manage rather than a permanently fixed layout.
The sheet also lists two vegetable crispers and two adjustable fresh-food shelves. Those details are more useful than the headline litre figure when you assess everyday organisation: measure the height of bottles, meal containers and produce bins you actually use, and check that the door storage and shelf positions suit them. Published litres do not show how much of each compartment remains accessible after shelves, drawers and ice-making hardware occupy space.
Will the 794 mm cabinet fit your kitchen?
It can fit a narrower opening than many full-width French-door refrigerators, but the cabinet width is not the complete installation footprint. Hisense specifies 50 mm of clearance on each side, 50 mm behind and 100 mm above. Allowing only the cabinet width would leave no stated ventilation margin and could prevent the doors or drawers from opening fully.
Measure the fixed installation space
- Measure the opening at the floor, worktop height and ceiling height; walls and cabinets are not always perfectly parallel.
- Reserve at least 50 mm on both sides, 50 mm behind and 100 mm above, following the manufacturer’s specification rather than assuming a tight built-in fit.
- Check the swing of both French doors and the pull-out freezer and convertible compartment. Nearby walls, handles or islands can block usable opening even when the cabinet itself fits.
- Confirm that power access remains reachable without crushing the cord or reducing the rear gap.
Measure the delivery route
Use the packaged dimensions of 842 × 1,885 × 744 mm for the delivery route, not the smaller net cabinet dimensions. Measure the front door, security door, hall, lift, stair turns and the final kitchen approach. Also check for low ceilings, handrails and tight corners where the delivery team may need to tilt or rotate the carton. These are general appliance-delivery checks, not a model-specific clearance test, so ask the retailer how the unit will be unpacked and whether doors can be removed if the route requires it.

How do the water dispenser and ice maker work?
The specification sheet lists a 3.5-litre water tank, an electronic water dispenser and an automatic ice maker. That combination indicates a tank-based water arrangement, but the available product information does not confirm every installation detail or state that the refrigerator can be connected to household plumbing. Do not order a plumbing kit or assume a permanent water line is supported until the installation instructions for your exact model confirm it.
A tank has a practical trade-off: installation can be simpler where no water line exists, but the household must refill it. Before buying, check where the tank is accessed, how much clearance is needed to remove it, and whether the dispenser location works when the doors are opened. The public specifications do not state refill frequency, filter type, ice-bin capacity or a cleaning schedule, so obtain those details from the manual or Hisense support.
Automatic ice production is convenient, but it uses part of the freezer layout and can be slower when the compartment is heavily loaded or the tank is empty. Treat “automatic” as a feature description, not a guarantee of a particular ice output. If ice availability is critical, ask for the model’s documented production rate and operating conditions before purchase.
Which smart and cooling features are included?
| Feature listed by Hisense | What it offers in principle | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| My Fresh Choice | A 92-litre compartment that can be configured as refrigerator or freezer space. | The useful capacity split depends on the mode you select; the sheet does not provide independent temperature-performance results for each mode. |
| Super Cool | A temporary rapid-cooling setting for the refrigerator section. | Exact duration, temperature target and reset behaviour are not stated in the public sheet. |
| Super Freeze | A temporary rapid-freezing setting. | Follow the manual for activation time and when to switch back to normal operation. |
| Inverter compressor | Variable-speed compressor technology listed for the model. | An inverter label alone does not establish a measured energy saving or reliability advantage in your kitchen. |
| Wi-Fi | Connected control or monitoring functions supported by the appliance platform. | The public specifications do not identify supported app features, network requirements or how long software support lasts. |
| Door alarm | Alert when a door is left open. | Check the manual for alarm delay and mute controls. |
| Frost-free operation | Automatic management of frost so routine manual defrosting should not be needed. | Frost-free does not remove the need to clean seals, shelves, tanks or the ice system. |
These functions are most valuable when they match a specific routine. My Fresh Choice helps if your freezer demand changes seasonally; Super Cool and Super Freeze are useful after loading a large shop; Wi-Fi matters only if the app’s alerts or controls fit your habits. If you will never use connected features, do not assign them a value simply because they appear on the specification list.

How efficient and quiet is it?
Hisense’s Australian sheet gives a 4.5-star rating, 344 kWh per year under the CEC measure, 341.073 kWh per year under PAEC, and 38 dB(A). CEC and PAEC are different labelled figures, so retain both when estimating consumption. To estimate electricity cost, multiply the relevant annual kWh figure by your electricity tariff; the result will vary with tariff, ambient temperature, door openings and the selected refrigerator/freezer mode.
The 38 dB(A) figure is a product specification. It should not be presented as the result of an independent acoustic test, and it does not predict how noticeable compressor starts, fans, ice drops or cabinet vibrations will be in your particular room. Open-plan kitchens should be judged by the retailer’s return policy and an independent test result if one is available.
Do not compare the 4.5-star Australian label with a star rating from another country without checking that the test method and jurisdiction match. Likewise, a claimed annual kWh number is not a guarantee of your household’s bill.

What does the independent CHOICE review establish?
CHOICE lists the exact HRCD483TSW as tested in 2025 and shows selected specifications, including a displayed price of $1,899 and a three-year warranty. Its public page does not expose the Expert Rating or the detailed results for temperature stability, temperature evenness, measured noise, 10-year running cost, reliability or owner satisfaction; those fields are restricted to members. Consequently, the public record supports saying that the model has been tested, but not assigning it a score or declaring it a proven performer.
This distinction matters when you see retailer descriptions that repeat manufacturer features. A test year is evidence that a review programme included the model, not evidence that the model passed a particular threshold. If you have CHOICE membership, read the full result and check its test conditions before using it to compare this refrigerator with another model.
What warranty and support information is available?
Hisense states a three-year warranty for the HRCD483TSW. Confirm the warranty document supplied with your Australian purchase, because coverage can depend on proof of purchase, installation conditions, authorised service procedures and the precise model suffix. The public product information does not establish additional years for the compressor, labour exclusions, response times or treatment of accessories such as the ice system.
Keep the invoice, model label and serial number. When requesting service, describe the compartment mode, temperature setting, alarm state and whether the issue affects cooling, dispensing, ice production or Wi-Fi. Those details help support staff distinguish a setting or installation question from a hardware fault.
What price and availability should you expect?
Hisense Australia displayed A$1,899 and an in-stock status when the product page was retrieved. CHOICE also displayed $1,899 on its review page. Both figures are time- and location-sensitive: they do not establish a permanent recommended price, a retailer-wide price or delivered cost. Recheck the Hisense Australia product page and the retailer’s checkout for current stock, delivery charges, installation fees and any recycling or stair-delivery surcharge.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteCompare the delivered total rather than the ticket price alone. A lower appliance price can disappear if delivery cannot handle the packaged dimensions, if a difficult route attracts a surcharge or if you need extra work to provide the specified ventilation gaps. Conversely, a slightly higher delivered price may be worthwhile if it includes room-of-choice placement and removal of packaging.
Who is the HRCD483TSW best suited to?
It makes the most sense when:
- Your opening can accommodate a 794 mm cabinet plus the stated side, rear and top clearances.
- You want French-door access but cannot fit a much wider refrigerator.
- Your storage needs vary and a 92-litre convertible compartment is more useful than a permanently fixed split.
- A tank-fed dispenser and automatic ice maker suit you better than arranging a confirmed plumbed connection.
- You value Wi-Fi, rapid-cooling modes and a door alarm enough to use them.
Think twice when:
- Your kitchen has no way to provide the 100 mm top gap or 50 mm rear gap.
- You need a large dedicated freezer and would rarely use the convertible compartment as refrigerator space.
- You require independently verified noise, temperature or reliability results before buying; the public CHOICE page does not provide those figures.
- You expect a plumbed dispenser, a specific ice output or a particular app feature that the public specifications do not confirm.
- Your delivery route is tighter than the 842 × 1,885 × 744 mm packaged envelope.
How should you compare it with another refrigerator?
Use the same evidence categories for both models. A bigger headline capacity is not automatically more useful if it comes from inaccessible shelves, a small dedicated freezer or a flexible compartment you will not use.

| Comparison question | What to record for each model | Why it changes the decision |
|---|---|---|
| Will it fit? | Net width, height and depth; required side, rear and top clearances; packaged dimensions. | Determines cabinet fit and whether delivery is practical. |
| How is capacity counted? | Total volume, fresh-food volume, dedicated freezer volume and any convertible volume. | Reveals whether two advertised capacities are genuinely comparable. |
| What will it consume? | Energy-rating jurisdiction and annual kWh, keeping each label’s methodology. | Prevents misleading star-rating or running-cost comparisons. |
| How was it measured? | Independent temperature, noise and reliability results under comparable test conditions. | Separates manufacturer claims from tested performance. |
| How do water and ice work? | Tank or plumbing, refill access, filter requirements and ice-system documentation. | Changes installation effort and daily maintenance. |
| What support is included? | Warranty length, service terms and exclusions. | Affects risk over the ownership period. |
| What is the real price? | Current delivered price, installation, removal and route surcharges. | Ticket prices can omit substantial delivery costs. |

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What should you check before placing the order?
- Write down the exact model code HRCD483TSW and finish, then compare it with the seller’s invoice and the carton label.
- Measure the installation opening and mark the 50 mm side, 50 mm rear and 100 mm top zones.
- Measure the route using the packaged dimensions, including the narrowest doorway and sharpest turn.
- Decide whether 92 litres of My Fresh Choice will normally be refrigerator or freezer space.
- Confirm how the 3.5-litre tank is filled and removed, and ask the seller for the manual if plumbing compatibility matters.
- Check whether the retailer’s quoted price includes delivery, difficult access, unpacking, packaging removal and old-appliance collection.
- Save the specification sheet, invoice and warranty information for future service calls.
What are the most likely buying mistakes?
Confusing headline and compartment capacity
Do not describe the 304 L, 60 L and 92 L figures as a 456-litre refrigerator. The advertised total is 483 L, and the manufacturer’s categories do not sum to that headline number.

The published sheet identifies a 3.5-litre tank but does not confirm a household water-line connection. Verify the installation method for the exact model before preparing plumbing.
Using cabinet dimensions for delivery
The carton is wider, taller and deeper than the net refrigerator. A route that fits 794 mm at the final location may still fail at an 842 mm doorway or a tight turn.
Treating a test listing as a test result
CHOICE’s 2025 test year is public, but its rating and detailed measurements are not. Do not turn the existence of the page into an invented score.
Comparing the wrong suffix
HRCD483TS, HRCD483TBW, HRCD483E and other variants are not interchangeable evidence. Confirm that every specification, price and warranty reference is for HRCD483TSW.
What is the bottom-line buying advice?
The HRCD483TSW is a sensible candidate for an Australian kitchen that can meet its ventilation and delivery requirements and can make real use of a convertible 92-litre compartment. Its listed 4.5-star rating, 344 kWh/year CEC figure, 38 dB(A) specification, tank-fed dispenser, automatic ice maker and three-year warranty provide a clear specification package. The decision is less clear if you need independently verified quietness or temperature stability, a confirmed plumbed water connection, or a large permanently dedicated freezer, because the public evidence does not settle those questions.

Frequently asked questions
Does the HRCD483TSW include a water filter?
The publicly listed specifications identify a 3.5-litre tank, electronic dispenser and automatic ice maker, but they do not state a filter model or replacement interval. Ask the seller or consult the exact user manual for filter type, access and ongoing costs before relying on filtered-water performance.
Can I install it tightly between two cabinets?
Hisense specifies 50 mm of clearance on each side, so a zero-gap installation would not follow the published installation requirement. Even if the doors appear to open, insufficient ventilation can also make service access and heat dissipation more difficult; have the installer confirm the finished opening against the manual.
Is the 2024 specification sheet outdated because CHOICE tested it in 2025?
The dates describe different documents: the specification PDF carries a 23 July 2024 filename date, while CHOICE lists a 2025 test year. A later test year does not automatically change the manufacturer’s dimensions or capacity, but it is sensible to check for a revised sheet if a retailer lists a different suffix or specification.
What if I need more freezer space later?
My Fresh Choice can be configured as freezer space according to Hisense, giving you a way to change the balance without buying another appliance. Remember that using it as a freezer reduces refrigerator capacity, and the public material does not state the mode-change time or exact operating limits; obtain those instructions before depending on it for seasonal bulk storage.
