The Hisense HRCD483TBW is a 483-litre French-door refrigerator aimed at Australian kitchens that want broad fresh-food storage, a flexible compartment and a non-plumbed ice-and-water dispenser. Its strongest specifications are the 304-litre fresh-food section, 92-litre multi-use zone, Wi-Fi connectivity and relatively shallow 698 mm cabinet depth. The trade-offs are only 60 litres of conventional freezer capacity, a 4.5-star energy label, and a price that varies considerably by retailer and date. Hisense listed it at $1,899 AUD and in stock on 21 October 2026, while a dated EveryModel snapshot recorded a lowest tracked price of $1,497 on 21 September 2026. Treat both as historical checks, not guaranteed current quotes. This review explains the layout, installation requirements, running-energy figure, dispenser arrangement and evidence limits so you can decide whether this exact model suits your household.
Is the Hisense HRCD483TBW worth buying?
It can be a good fit if you prioritise refrigerator and flexible storage over a large dedicated freezer, need a French-door layout under 800 mm wide, and are comfortable checking the exact dispenser configuration before delivery. It is less compelling for a freezer-heavy household or anyone shopping primarily for low energy consumption: the model is labelled at 344 kWh per year and 4.5 stars, while EveryModel found 17 of 20 similarly sized refrigerators used less energy.
The model-specific evidence is strongest for configuration, dimensions, labelled energy use and manufacturer features. There is no hands-on testing or long-term ownership assessment behind this review. CHOICE lists a 2025 test of the HRCD483TBW, but its detailed rating and performance results are available only to members, so no independent cooling, temperature-stability or noise verdict should be inferred.

How much usable storage does the layout provide?
The headline 483-litre capacity hides an important split: most of the volume is above-freezing or flexible storage. Hisense’s exact-model specification allocates 304 litres to fresh food, 60 litres to the freezer, 92 litres to a multi-use compartment and 27 litres to ice making.
Fresh-food compartment: 304 litres
The 304-litre fresh-food section is the model’s main capacity advantage. French doors place frequently used chilled items at waist and chest height, reducing the need to open a full-width door. Check shelf height and door-bin clearance in the showroom or manual if you regularly store tall bottles, large trays or wide platters; the published litre figure does not describe the usable shape of every shelf.
Dedicated freezer: 60 litres
Sixty litres is modest for a 483-litre family refrigerator. It may suit households that buy frozen food in small quantities, but bulk shoppers should compare the freezer volume—not total capacity—against alternatives. Do not assume the 92-litre multi-use zone is equivalent to permanent freezer storage; its intended mode and temperature range must be confirmed in the local manual.
Multi-use zone: 92 litres
The 92-litre compartment is the model’s flexibility feature. Hisense lists My Fresh Choice among the functions, allowing the zone to be configured for a different storage purpose. Because the available data does not establish exact temperature ranges, conversion times or food-safety limits, follow the supplied instructions before switching modes and allow the compartment to reach its target temperature before loading temperature-sensitive food.
Ice-making volume: 27 litres
Ice-making volume is listed separately at 27 litres. That figure should not be treated as ordinary shelf space: it represents the capacity allocated to the ice system in the manufacturer’s specification.
How efficient is the HRCD483TBW?
The Australian specification label gives the HRCD483TBW an annual consumption of 344 kWh and a 4.5-star rating. CHOICE displays the same 344 kWh/year claimed-use figure for its 2025 listing. These are standardised label values, not a promise of the electricity used in your kitchen.

At an electricity rate of 32 cents per kilowatt-hour, EveryModel calculated approximately $110 per year from the 344 kWh figure. That is EveryModel’s arithmetic under its stated tariff assumption, not a published household bill. To estimate your own cost, multiply 344 by your electricity retailer’s per-kWh rate, then remember that ambient heat, door openings, temperature settings and the use of the flexible compartment can change actual consumption.

EveryModel’s dated comparison found a median of 203 kWh/year among 20 refrigerators within 60 litres of this model’s size, with 17 using less than the HRCD483TBW. This is a third-party comparison set, not a universal market ranking. When comparing another refrigerator, check both its labelled kWh/year and its capacity split; a lower total may reflect a much smaller appliance, while a larger freezer may better match your needs.
Will it fit in a kitchen or through a doorway?
The cabinet measures 794 mm wide, 1785 mm high and 698 mm deep. Hisense calls for 50 mm of clearance on each side, 50 mm behind and 100 mm above. A nominal 794 mm opening is therefore insufficient if the specified side ventilation must be maintained; plan the required cavity width and any door-opening space before ordering.
Measure the installation opening
- Measure width at the floor, mid-height and near the top; walls and cabinetry are not always square.
- Allow the specified 50 mm on both sides, 50 mm at the rear and 100 mm above, unless the current manual gives a revised instruction.
- Check that skirting boards, handles, islands and adjacent appliances do not block the doors or drawers.
- Confirm the floor can support the loaded refrigerator and that the appliance can be levelled.
Measure the delivery route
Measure the front door, security door, hallway turns, lift, stair landings and the final kitchen opening. Include packaging and the angle needed to turn the cabinet. Cabinet dimensions alone do not establish that a delivery crew can reach the installation site. Ask the retailer whether doors can be removed for transport and whether that service is included.
Does the water and ice dispenser need plumbing?
A retailer listing describes the HRCD483TBW as having a non-plumbed ice-and-water dispenser, meaning it is intended to draw from an internal refillable reservoir rather than a fixed water line. That can simplify installation and avoid paying for plumbing, but it also means regular manual refilling and less continuous dispensing than a plumbed model.
Confirm the exact local unit with the seller before purchase. French-door models in the same family are not interchangeable, and a retailer description is not a substitute for the model’s current manual. A customer comment praising the dispenser is anecdotal and does not establish reliability, flow rate, filtration performance or broader owner satisfaction.

What features does Hisense include?
Hisense lists Wi-Fi connectivity through ConnectLife, My Fresh Choice, Super Cool and Super Freeze. These features are useful in principle, but their practical value depends on your home network, phone compatibility and willingness to use an app.
ConnectLife and Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi can provide remote status or control functions through the manufacturer’s platform. The published specifications do not establish which notifications are available in Australia, whether every function works without an account, or how long software support will continue. Treat connectivity as an optional convenience rather than a reason to accept a poor physical fit or unsuitable capacity.
Super Cool and Super Freeze
These modes are designed for periods when you add a large amount of warm food. Use them according to the manual’s timing and loading guidance; leaving high-power modes active unnecessarily can increase energy use. The available evidence does not provide independent measurements of pull-down speed.
Inverter compressor
Hisense specifies an inverter compressor. Inverter systems vary their speed rather than operating only at a fixed rate, but the specification does not prove a particular noise level, service life or energy result in your home.
How noisy is it, and what warranty applies?
Hisense lists a 38 dB noise level and a three-year warranty. Both figures are manufacturer-stated specifications. A 38 dB label can be reassuring for an open-plan room, but perceived sound depends on room acoustics, floor vibration, compressor cycling and the individual unit; it is not an independent test result.
The three-year warranty is a useful baseline, yet the surfaced information does not establish labour coverage, sealed-system terms, response times, spare-parts availability or service coverage outside the applicable region. Read the current Australian warranty document and keep proof of purchase. Ask who performs repairs in your postcode before paying for delivery and installation.

What did independent testing say?
CHOICE lists the HRCD483TBW as tested in 2025 and shows the claimed 344 kWh/year specification. The detailed expert score and performance results are member-only on the surfaced page. It is therefore accurate to say that a 2025 CHOICE test listing exists, but not to claim a public test rating, measured temperature stability, measured noise result or freezer-performance verdict.

Hisense Australia displayed a price of $1,899 AUD and in-stock status on 21 October 2026. Stock, delivery charges and regional availability can change. EveryModel recorded a lowest tracked price of $1,497 from retailer checks dated 21 September 2026. That lower figure is a historical third-party snapshot, not a current offer or a guarantee that installation is included.
Compare the delivered total rather than the shelf price. Include freight to your postcode, removal of the old refrigerator, unpacking, positioning, door reversal or removal, and any plumbing work if the seller confirms a different dispenser configuration. A slightly higher delivered price can be better value if it includes difficult-access delivery and compliant installation.
How should you compare it with other French-door refrigerators?
Use the same dimensions and energy basis for every candidate. The HRCD483TBW’s 344 kWh/year should be compared with the other model’s labelled annual kWh, not with an estimated bill from a different tariff.
| Comparison point | What to check | Why it matters for this model |
|---|---|---|
| Freezer versus flexible storage | Dedicated freezer litres and whether a flexible zone can operate as a freezer | The HRCD483TBW has 60 L dedicated freezer capacity and 92 L multi-use capacity. |
| Energy | Annual kWh and star rating on the same national label system | Its 344 kWh/year is above the 203 kWh/year median in EveryModel’s 20-model comparison. |
| Physical fit | Width, height, depth, ventilation and door swing | The cabinet is 794 × 1785 × 698 mm before required clearances. |
| Water and ice | Plumbed or reservoir-fed, refill effort and filtration | A retailer describes this unit as non-plumbed; verify the exact regional configuration. |
| Warranty and service | Length, exclusions, labour, sealed-system coverage and local repair network | Hisense states three years, but detailed service terms were not established. |
| Delivered cost | Current price, freight, installation and old-appliance removal | The observed $1,899 and $1,497 figures come from different dates and sources. |
Be careful with model-family comparisons. Hisense’s HRCD483E, for example, is listed with a 5.5-star rating and a different freezer arrangement. Those specifications must not be transferred to the HRCD483TBW.
What should you check before placing the order?
- Confirm the model code. Check that the invoice and carton say HRCD483TBW, not another HRCD483 variant.
- Verify the current configuration. Ask the seller whether the dispenser is non-plumbed, what the reservoir capacity is and which accessories are included.
- Measure the cavity and route. Apply the 50 mm side, 50 mm rear and 100 mm top clearances, then measure doors, turns and stairs.
- Decide whether 60 litres of freezer space is enough. If you batch-cook or store frozen goods, treat the multi-use zone as uncertain until the manual confirms its freezer operation.
- Check the delivered price. Get freight, installation, access surcharges and old-appliance removal in writing.
- Read warranty terms. Confirm Australian coverage, service contacts, exclusions and proof-of-purchase requirements.
- Recheck availability on the day of purchase. The manufacturer’s stock and price are time-sensitive.
What are the main risks and how can you avoid them?
- Insufficient freezer space: compare the 60-litre dedicated freezer with your actual weekly frozen-food volume rather than relying on 483 litres total.
- Ventilation blocked by cabinetry: draw the appliance and clearance envelope on the floor plan before ordering.
- Delivery failure: provide route measurements and photographs to the retailer; do not assume a standard delivery includes difficult access.
- Wrong family model: match every specification to the TBW suffix because nearby HRCD483 models differ.
- Unexpected dispenser maintenance: confirm the reservoir-based arrangement and plan for regular refilling and cleaning.
- Overstated energy savings: use the 344 kWh/year label with your tariff; do not treat the approximately $110 estimate as a universal bill.
- Assumed independent performance: distinguish CHOICE’s 2025 listing from its member-gated results and avoid treating manufacturer noise or compressor claims as laboratory measurements.
Who should buy the Hisense HRCD483TBW?
Choose it when a relatively slim French-door cabinet, large fresh-food section, flexible 92-litre compartment and reservoir-fed dispenser match your priorities. It is also worth considering when a verified sale price brings the delivered cost close to the dated $1,497 market snapshot.

Look elsewhere when your household needs a large dedicated freezer, when energy consumption is the deciding factor, or when your kitchen cannot provide the specified ventilation and door-opening space. The model’s specifications are clear enough to make that decision, but current stock, local warranty service and the exact dispenser arrangement still need confirmation from the seller.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does a 4.5-star refrigerator rating mean in Australia?
The star label is a comparative energy-efficiency rating within Australia’s appliance-labelling system; it is not a guarantee of a particular annual electricity bill. Use the accompanying 344 kWh/year figure with your own retailer’s tariff when estimating cost.
Can the 92-litre multi-use compartment safely replace a freezer?
The compartment is intended to be flexible, but the available specifications do not state its full temperature range, conversion time or food-safety limits. Check the HRCD483TBW manual and allow the zone to reach the selected temperature before storing frozen food.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Will a 38 dB refrigerator be silent in an open-plan kitchen?
No refrigerator is completely silent. The 38 dB figure is a manufacturer specification, while perceived sound also depends on floor vibration, room acoustics and compressor cycling; there is no independent acoustic measurement established here.
What should I ask the retailer about installation?
Ask for written confirmation of delivery-route requirements, clearance compliance, levelling, packaging removal, old-appliance removal and whether door removal is available. Also confirm the local warranty contact and whether the dispenser is reservoir-fed on the exact unit being supplied.
