Hisense H9E Plus: At First Glance
For the past few years, Hisense has been consistent in offering electronics and televisions with great features and performances. To continue with this impressive legacy, Hisense released the H9E Plus in 2018.
The Hisense H9E Plus is one of the brand’s top 4K television for 2018, offering a decent picture quality and a reasonable port selection. Furthermore, this TV supports HDR and features the Android operating system.
However, as with most Hisense televisions, the Hisense H9E Plus comes with some questionable flaws. Do you wish to know more about this television and its flaws?

Hisense H9E Plus: Design, Dimension, and Weight
In terms of design, the Hisense H9E Plus has a modern look as well as thin bezels. These bezels surround the television’s display screen and they are made of plastic with a matte-black finish.

Moreover, at the center of the bottom bezel, you will find a white “Hisense” logo.
Turning to the back of the Hisense H9E Plus, you will discover a plastic panel with a black-matte texture. Furthermore, this plastic back panel features four holes that can accommodate a 400 x 200 VESA mount for wall-mounting this TV.
Moreover, if mounted on the wall, the Hisense H9E Plus should look awesome and won’t bulge out of the wall even a bit. This is due to the fact that the television’s plastic back panel is very thin, just like the bezels.
However, if you are not the kind who loves wall-mounting televisions, the Hisense H9E Plus comes with a pair of V-shaped legs. These legs are made of metal and they feature a silver finish.
Moreover, due to the metal build of these legs, they should support the Hisense H9E Plus very well without wobbling. Sadly, these legs are set very close to the edges of the TV.
In fact, they are nearly the full width of the TV. Therefore, if you don’t wall-mount the Hisense H9E Plus, you will require a fairly large table or desk to place it on.
Having said all that, let us quickly discuss the dimension and the weight of the television. To start with, the Hisense H9E Plus measures 1450.3 x 71.1 x 840.7 mm (W x D x H) and weighs 22498.1 g.

In my opinion, for a 65-inch television, this Hisense television isn’t particularly heavy. In fact, it weighs less than most 65-inch televisions in its category.
For example, the VIZIO M658-G1 weighs 24200 g and measures 1454.9 x 72.1 x 840.4 (W x D x H). Another example is the LG SM9000 which weighs 26399 g and measures 1455.4 x 63.5 x 835.6 mm (W x D x H).
In conclusion, the Hisense H9E Plus comes with a decent design with a pair of sturdy metal legs. Also, this TV features thin bezels and it weighs less than most of its competitors.
Therefore, it is ideal to rate the Hisense 65H9E a nine out of ten in this design review section.
Hisense H9E Plus: Display Features and Picture Quality
As hinted earlier, the Hisense H9E Plus comes with a 65-inch display. In addition to that, this television’s display offers a 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) resolution.
Therefore, as a display with 4K resolution, the Hisense H9E Plus’ 65-inch display should be able to deliver sharp and clear images. In addition to its 4K resolution, this television’s display is made with a VA panel.
As a result of its VA panel, this display offers an excellent contrast ratio of 5,363:1. For those who don’t know, a display contrast ratio is a ratio between the brightest white and the darkest black that the display can produce.
Moreover, a high contrast ratio means that the display can produce deep blacks. Thus, the display of the Hisense H9E Plus should be able to render deep blacks due to its high 5,363:1 contrast ratio.

As a result, the Hisense H9E Plus is ideal for viewing movies with lots of dark, shadowy, or shady scenes. Also, this television is extremely good in terms of watching movies in dark rooms.
Impressively, even though it features a high contrast ratio, the Hisense H9E Plus’ display supports local dimming. For clarity, the local dimming is a technique that enhances the contrast ratio of a display by dimming backlight zones.
Therefore, with local dimming, blacks rendered by the Hisense H9E Plus’ display will look darker than they would be without local dimming. As a result, improving the overall picture quality of the display.
The Hisense H9E Plus’ impressive display performance doesn’t end here as its display supports HDR (High Dynamic Range). Briefly, HDR is a picture technology that boosts the brightness and color accuracy of a display.
Therefore, when viewing HDR-compatible content on the Hisense H9E Plus’ display, images will look very lifelike and realistic. Just in case you don’t know, HDR-compatible content can be found on streaming apps like Amazon Prime Video.
Unfortunately, despite supporting HDR, the Hisense H9E Plus’ display offers average brightness. Specifically, this display comes with a maximum brightness of 282 nits.
Although this brightness is enough for watching movies in moderately-lit rooms, it isn’t ideal for viewing the TV in a bright room. Therefore, you are better off viewing the Hisense H9E Plus in dark or moderately-lit areas.

Moving on, because of its VA panel, the Hisense H9E Plus’ display has poor viewing angles. Thus, when viewing the television off-center, the display’s picture quality will reduce and colors will look washed out.

Hence, it is best you view the television directly from the center to avoid a non-satisfactory viewing experience.
On the plus side, the Hisense H9E Plus’ display comes with a fast response time of 13.5 milliseconds. As a result, this Hisense television is ideal for watching fast-motion content like fighting movies and sports.
In case you are curious, response time is the amount of time that a display takes to shift from a particular color to another.
That said, the Hisense H9E Plus’ display features an averagely-low input lag of 33.4 milliseconds. Honestly, this input lag is “low” enough for casual gaming.

Therefore, for a top-notch gaming experience, the input lag must be extremely low.
In summary, the Hisense H9E Plus has a 4K display that offers realistic picture quality and also supports HDR. Furthermore, this display has an impressive contrast ratio that makes it ideal for dark room viewing.
However, the display isn’t bright enough and it has poor viewing angles. As a result, in this display review section, I will be rating the Hisense H9E Plus an eight out of ten.
Hisense H9E Plus: Sound Features
The Hisense H9E Plus is pretty good when it comes to sound production and features. Specifically, this television features a pair of 15-watt speakers that offer excellent sound quality.
Furthermore, these speakers are capable of producing fairly loud sounds. Apart from being able to produce loud sounds, these speakers are also capable of delivering crisp and clear dialogue.
For those who don’t know what dialogue is, it is the sound produced when two or more individuals are conversing in a film or TV show. Unfortunately, the Hisense H9E Plus cannot produce a significant amount of bass.
This is due to the fact that the TV lacks a subwoofer. For this reason, I will advise you to purchase a soundbar alongside the television if you are the type that loves bass-heavy music or movies.

That said, the Hisense H9E Plus offers an excellent distortion performance. To give more details, this television scored 0.668% on the THD test.
Just to be clear, THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) is a sound test that evaluates the amount of distortion that a sound device can produce. Furthermore, on this test, a score of 1% or less means the sound device produces minimal to no distortion.
Well, as you can see above, the Hisense H9E Plus delivered a score that is significantly less than 1%. Therefore, even at the maximum volume level, this television will produce little to no amount of distortion.

Moreover, at a moderate volume level, distortion is totally absent from the television. In case you are curious, distortion in this context refers to the deformation of sound frequencies, resulting in a sound device producing disturbing sound quality.
In conclusion, apart from its lack of a subwoofer, the Hisense H9E Plus offers a brilliant sound performance. Moreover, this television comes with Dolby Digital Plus which enhances its sound production.
Therefore, in this sound review section, I will be rating the Hisense H9E Plus an eight out of ten.
Hisense H9E Plus: Ports and Connectivity Features
To start with, the Hisense H9E Plus comes with a good number of ports. However, like most Hisense televisions, all the ports are located directly on the back of the television.
Therefore, the ports may not be easy to access if the Hisense H9E Plus is mounted on the wall.

That said, the Hisense H9E Plus comes with four HDMI 2.0a ports. In addition to these HDMI ports, this television features one USB 3.0 port as well as one USB 2.0 port.
That’s not all, this Hisense television also comes with an Ethernet port, composite video inputs, a digital optical out, and an RF port. In terms of wireless connectivity, the Hisense H9E Plus features Bluetooth and 802.11 a/b/g/ac Wi-Fi Direct.
As one would expect, the Hisense H9E Plus comes with a voice remote control. However, the remote that this television feature isn’t a basic remote, it is a voice remote.
