Console storage capacity and the amount of space available are different things: installed games, apps, and other content may already use much of the storage. Check the free-space figure on your own console rather than assuming its advertised capacity is all available for a new game. The amount of room you need to free will depend on the official size shown for your platform and how much space is currently available—not on the console’s headline capacity alone.
Do not use GTA V’s install size as a proxy. It is a different game, and no verified GTA VI figure follows from it. How do you check and free space on PS5?
Start by checking how much space is available and which categories are using it. If installed games are the main issue, remove titles you no longer play or move them to storage that suits how you want to use them. There is no reason to start by deleting save files: installed games and saved data are separate categories with separate controls.
Check available storage
- Open Settings > Storage on the PS5.

Delete an installed game or app
- Go to Settings > Storage > Console Storage > Games and Apps.
- Select the unwanted installed game or app and choose the delete option.
- Check the free-space figure again under Settings > Storage.
Deleting an installation and deleting saved data are separate actions. Keep them that way: don’t remove saved data just to clear space occupied by installed games. Purchased games can be downloaded again from your game library, though you will need to download the game again to play it. Before deleting, make sure you are selecting the installed title or app in Games and Apps, not an item in the saved-data menus.
If you are short on room but want to keep a game for later, moving it can be preferable to deleting it outright. On PS5, Game Library provides a Move Games and Apps option for supported storage.
