It is an editorial selection—not a scored or independently tested ranking—so treat the list as a starting point and check each extension’s current Chrome Web Store listing, permissions, data practices, and feature limits before installing.
What Google’s 2025 roundup actually says
Hafsah Ismail, Product Manager for Chrome, introduces the list with: “Here are some of this year’s best extensions for intelligent and personalized browsing.” Google also says, “AI transformed the browser this year, turning Chrome into a proactive assistant.” That second statement is Google’s framing, not a quantified research finding.
The article selects 10 extensions but discloses no common scoring system, head-to-head testing, accuracy results, adoption figures, or measured learning outcomes. “Favorite” therefore means Google’s editorial recommendation, not proof that an extension is best for every user.
The 10 extensions, organized by task
| Category | Extensions | Google’s stated use |
|---|---|---|
| AI browsing companions | Monica; Sider; HARPA AI; QuillBot | Chat with PDFs, summarize pages, draft content, automate web tasks, monitor changes, track price drops, paraphrase, check grammar, and generate text. |
| Work and learning | Fireflies.ai; Bluedot; QuestionAI; eJOY | Record, transcribe, and summarize virtual meetings; explain complex topics; and teach vocabulary in context while browsing. |
| Creativity and comparison | Adobe Photoshop; Phia | Bring Photoshop editing tools into the browser and compare prices across shopping sites. |
Monica and Sider
Google describes both as tools that let you chat with PDFs, summarize webpages, and draft content without leaving your workflow. They fit readers who routinely move between source documents, browser pages, and writing tasks. The roundup does not compare their output quality, supported models, document limits, or privacy terms.

HARPA AI
Google presents HARPA AI as combining artificial intelligence with web automation. Its examples include tracking price drops and monitoring changes in data. Those uses may appeal to researchers and shoppers who need recurring checks, but the roundup does not establish which sites, alert schedules, or automation limits are supported.
QuillBot
Google says QuillBot provides paraphrasing, grammar checking, and AI text generation. It is aimed at revising and producing copy inside the browser. Google supplies no independent assessment of accuracy, originality, language coverage, or how its plans divide features.
Fireflies.ai and Bluedot
Both are described as meeting tools that record, transcribe, and summarize virtual conversations. Before using either for a meeting, confirm participant-consent requirements, recording indicators, supported conferencing services, retention controls, and the vendor’s handling of uploaded audio and transcripts. None of those details is established by Google’s roundup.

QuestionAI
Google calls QuestionAI an on-demand tutor for explaining complex topics. It may be useful for first-pass explanations or follow-up questions, but the article reports no accuracy testing, curriculum alignment, citation standard, or learning-outcome evidence.

eJOY
Google describes eJOY as a way to learn vocabulary in context during everyday browsing. Readers should verify which languages, media sites, exercises, and progress features are currently supported rather than assuming every language-learning function is included.
Adobe Photoshop
Google says Adobe brought Photoshop editing tools into the browser and identifies Adobe as a close partner in this context. The roundup does not specify the browser feature set, account requirements, storage limits, export options, or whether particular tools require a paid Adobe plan. Check Adobe’s current terms before relying on it for production work.
Rank #3
- Storage: 16GB Flash Memory
- OS: Chrome OS
- Screen Size: 11.6"
Phia
Google describes Phia as a shopping assistant that compares costs across sites and presents a best-price result for consideration. Price comparisons can vary with country, retailer coverage, shipping, taxes, coupons, timing, and product matching, so treat a displayed result as a lead to verify—not a guarantee of the lowest final price.
What a Chrome extension is—and what installation means
Google’s Chrome Web Store help explains that extensions are software additions to Chrome. They can add features to existing web apps, provide relevant links or information, send notifications, or appear as address-bar shortcuts. The store can list items at no charge, but that does not mean every extension’s complete feature set or associated service is free.
Store availability depends on browser language and location. A listing in Google’s “Favorites of 2025” collection confirms Google’s recommendation at the time of publication; it does not guarantee that an extension remains available, keeps the same features, or suits every region.

How to choose among Google’s picks
- Start with the job. Choose meeting capture for Fireflies.ai or Bluedot, tutoring for QuestionAI, contextual vocabulary for eJOY, browser image editing for Photoshop, price comparison for Phia, or writing and page assistance for the AI companions.
- Check the current listing. Confirm compatibility, required permissions, supported languages and sites, account requirements, subscription boundaries, and the date of the latest update.
- Review data handling. AI assistants, meeting recorders, and document tools may process page contents, files, prompts, audio, transcripts, or shopping activity. Read the vendor’s privacy policy and retention controls before submitting sensitive material.
- Test on low-risk work first. Compare summaries against the source, inspect transcripts for errors, and verify shopping results at checkout. Do not treat an unverified AI answer or price result as authoritative.
- Remove what you do not use. In Chrome, open the Extensions menu, choose “Manage extensions,” and disable or remove extensions that no longer have a clear purpose.
What this list does not prove
- It does not establish that these are the fastest, most accurate, safest, or highest-rated Chrome extensions of 2025.
- It does not provide a shared test dataset, scores, benchmarks, or independent user-outcome measurements.
- It does not establish that any extension is free beyond whatever the store listing says for installation; services may have separate limits or paid tiers.
- Google’s description of Adobe as a close partner is not evidence of an affiliate arrangement, commission, or endorsement beyond inclusion in the roundup.
- The roundup concerns browser software; it does not require a Chromebook, accessory, physical product, or other hardware purchase.
Source and date
The list comes from Google’s “Our favorite Chrome extensions in 2025,” by Hafsah Ismail, published December 3, 2025. Definitions of extensions and availability caveats come from Google Chrome Web Store Help, “What is the Chrome Web Store?” accessed September 27, 2026. Because listings and vendor policies can change, use those dates as context and verify the live information before installation.
The Bottom Line
Google’s 10 picks are best read as a task-based shortlist: select the tool that matches your workflow, then independently verify its current listing, permissions, privacy terms, and limits.
