No. Google’s Dark Web Report is no longer available. Google stopped scanning for new dark-web breaches on January 15, 2026, and says the report and its related data were deleted on February 16, 2026. The old headline is out of date: Google’s tool was a monitoring service, not a way to search dark-web sites through Google Search.
What Google’s Dark Web Report did
Google introduced the report in the US in March 2023 as a Google One benefit. Users could create a monitoring profile containing details such as a name, address, email address, phone number, and Social Security number. Google checked for matching information in dark-web data and notified users when it found a match. The launch announcement describes the feature and its notifications: Google’s 2023 announcement.
That was not a normal Google Search query into dark-web websites. Google’s launch post described the dark web as a part of the internet that requires specialized software to access and is not indexed by search engines. The report looked for matches in data; it did not make dark-web pages searchable in Google.
The original announcement presented the tool as a US Google One benefit. 9to5Google later reported that it became available to all Google account holders in July 2024, which helps explain why some users remember it as a general Gmail-address check: 9to5Google’s rollout and shutdown report.

When Google shut it down
- January 15, 2026: Google stopped scans for new dark-web breaches.
- February 16, 2026: The report became unavailable, and Google says all associated report data was deleted.
Google’s Search Help page explains the decision: “While the report offered general information, feedback showed that it didn’t provide helpful next steps.” Google said it would focus instead on tools with clearer, actionable ways to protect personal information. Historically, the feature required a consumer Google Account; Google Workspace and supervised accounts were not eligible. That eligibility information does not provide a way to activate the discontinued report.

What to do if your email appeared in a breach
A dark-web match means information matched what the report monitored; by itself, it does not establish that someone accessed your account. Secure the affected account and any other accounts that reused its password:
- Review account security: Run Google’s Security Checkup and review recent security activity, recovery options, and signed-in devices.
- Change exposed or reused passwords: Use a unique password for each account. Google Password Manager and its Password Checkup can help identify weak or compromised saved passwords; see Google Password Manager.
- Strengthen sign-in: Use a passkey where supported, or another strong authentication method, and make sure recovery information is current.
- Watch for targeted messages: Be cautious with unexpected emails or texts that use your personal details or urge you to open a link, share a code, or approve a sign-in.
Dark-web monitoring and Google Search removal are different

Results about you is not a replacement for dark-web monitoring. A removal request concerns Google Search results; it does not establish that information has been removed from a breach source or the dark web.
