Choose the Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold if Google’s foldable software features, its stated IP68 protection, and a brighter-screen claim matter most. Choose the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra if a slimmer, lighter carry and the hardware advantages reported in the available comparison matter more. Neither phone has a decisive battery-life or speed advantage established by controlled, same-condition tests in the available sources, so treat those as open questions if they are your top priorities.

One naming and availability caveat matters: the comparison below covers the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra as named by Android Central, but the Samsung source available for this article did not provide model-specific official details. Confirm the exact model name, specifications, and local availability with Samsung or a retailer before buying.

At a glance: how the two foldables compare

These are large-screen foldables with broadly similar listed US starting prices in the cited snapshots, but they emphasize different strengths. Google’s published claims favor protection, screen brightness, and Pixel-specific software and camera tools. The comparison’s reported Samsung measurements favor portability, while its processor and camera specifications differ substantially. The figures below are not all derived from the same type of source: Pixel specifications are attributed to Google where available, and Samsung model details to Android Central’s editorial comparison.

Buying factor Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra What it means
US price snapshot $1,899 reference price on Google Store; “From $1,049” with an eligible trade-in $1,899.99 for the 256GB model, as reported by Android Central Similar listed starting prices, but the Pixel’s lower advertised figure requires an eligible trade-in. Offers and stock can change.
Ingress protection IP68, stated by Google IP48, reported by Android Central The published ratings favor Pixel for dust protection. Neither rating guarantees a phone will avoid damage.
Peak display brightness Up to 3,600 nits; Google says both displays are 20% brighter than last year’s model 3,000 nits, reported by Android Central These are published specifications and claims, not a same-condition brightness test.
Folded thickness and weight 10.1mm and 239g, reported by Android Central; Google separately describes it as nearly 10% lighter and about 1mm thinner than Pixel 10 Pro Fold 8.9mm and 215g, reported by Android Central The reported Samsung dimensions favor a thinner, lighter carry.
Main camera and zoom 48MP main camera; telephoto up to 30x Super Zoom, according to Google 200MP main camera and 3x telephoto, as reported by Android Central Megapixel counts and maximum zoom alone do not determine which phone takes better photographs.
Battery information 4,750mAh reported by Android Central; Google states over 24 hours of battery life 5,000mAh reported by Android Central Capacity and manufacturer duration claims are not controlled endurance results.
Charging 30W wired and up to 25W Qi2.2 wireless, according to Google Not stated in the cited comparison The cited specifications do not establish a like-for-like charging-speed winner.
Processor and memory Tensor G6 and 16GB RAM, according to Google Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and 12GB or 16GB RAM, reported by Android Central Chip and memory specifications alone do not establish real-world speed; exact-device benchmarks would be more useful.

Which phone should you buy?

Pick the Pixel 11 Pro Fold if protection and Pixel features are your priorities

  • You want Google’s officially stated IP68 dust and water protection rating rather than the IP48 rating Android Central reports for Samsung.
  • You value Pixel software features such as Magic Capture and the foldable multitasking tools Google promotes.
  • You want Google’s stated screen-brightness figure of up to 3,600 nits, while recognizing it is not a controlled comparison against Samsung’s screen.
  • You expect to use the Pixel camera’s advertised options, including its 48MP main camera and up to 30x Super Zoom, and will judge output by actual photos rather than megapixel counts.

Pick the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra if portability is the deciding factor

  • You place high value on a thinner, lighter folded device: Android Central reports 215g and 8.9mm for Samsung, compared with 239g and 10.1mm for Pixel.
  • You prefer the hardware configuration reported for Samsung, including a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and a 200MP main camera.
  • You are comfortable checking Samsung’s official regional listing to confirm that the model name and specifications match the comparison before you order.

Wait for independent results if battery life or gaming speed is decisive

The available figures do not settle which phone lasts longer in everyday use or performs better in demanding games. Google’s “over 24 hours” is a manufacturer battery-life statement, while battery capacities are specifications rather than runtime measurements. Android Central describes Samsung as faster, but the cited material does not establish that conclusion with a controlled, same-condition performance test. Look for independent battery and benchmark results for these exact models and software versions before making either factor the deciding reason to spend.

Price and value: similar US list figures, different conditions

Google Store’s US page shows the Pixel 11 Pro Fold at a $1,899 reference price and advertises it “From $1,049” after an eligible trade-in. The lower number is conditional: it is not the price every buyer can expect, and the trade-in value depends on eligibility and offer terms. Check the live listing for the device, storage, trade-in requirements, and any current promotion before checkout.

Android Central’s August 12, 2026 comparison lists the Samsung 256GB model at $1,899.99. That is an editorial price snapshot, not a universal price or a guarantee of current availability. It may differ by retailer, region, storage configuration, and time. For a fair purchase comparison, compare the same storage tier, sales tax, carrier terms, trade-in value, and final checkout price—not just the largest advertised discount.

On the supplied US price figures, the listed base prices are close enough that the practical value question is which phone’s strengths you will use. A discount should not override a meaningful difference in handling, protection rating, software, or local support.

Durability: Pixel publishes the stronger ingress rating

Google states that the Pixel 11 Pro Fold has IP68 dust and water protection. Android Central reports IP48 for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. On the published ratings, Pixel has the stronger dust-protection classification. IP ratings describe protection under specified test conditions; they are not promises that a device is waterproof, immune to dust, or covered for liquid damage. Follow the manufacturer’s care and warranty terms rather than treating either rating as permission to expose a foldable to avoidable risks.

Google also describes a new gearless hinge and a glass-fiber composite back. Those are design details, not proof that the phone will survive a drop or last longer than Samsung’s. Google’s Justin Savich, a group product manager, characterized the rating in the launch announcement: “Pixel 11 Pro Fold maintains the same high standard we set last year for durability, with an impressive IP68 dust and water protection rating.” That statement is Google’s product claim, not an independent durability test.

Displays: brighter claimed peak output does not settle viewing quality

Google says both Pixel 11 Pro Fold displays reach up to 3,600 nits and are 20% brighter than the previous year’s Pixel foldable. Android Central lists 3,000 nits for Samsung. The Pixel’s stated peak figure is higher, but these specifications do not tell you how the screens compare at a particular brightness setting, in sunlight, or during sustained use. The sources do not provide a controlled, side-by-side measurement under matching conditions.

If outdoor visibility is important, look for independent measurements of both exact devices or try them in person under similar lighting. Also consider the inner-screen experience that a peak-brightness number cannot capture, such as reflections, crease visibility, viewing angles, and the apps you use. Those comparative details are not established by the cited specifications.

Handling: Samsung is reported thinner and lighter

Android Central reports the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra at 215g and 8.9mm thick when folded, versus 239g and 10.1mm for the Pixel 11 Pro Fold. On those reported measurements, Samsung is 24g lighter and 1.2mm thinner. Google separately says the Pixel is nearly 10% lighter and about 1mm thinner than the Pixel 10 Pro Fold; that is a comparison with its predecessor, not with Samsung.

Those differences matter most when you carry the phone folded, use it one-handed, or keep it in a pocket for long periods. A thinner and lighter body is not automatically more comfortable for every person: Google’s comparison coverage notes that some users may prefer the Pixel’s more rounded feel. If possible, handle both devices in store, including opening and closing them and reaching across the outer screen. Measurements are a useful starting point, not a substitute for grip preference.

Cameras: compare the photos, not the headline megapixels

Google lists a new 48MP main camera, a telephoto camera with up to 30x Super Zoom, Magic Capture, and Camera Looks. Android Central reports a 200MP main camera and 3x telephoto for Samsung. Those specifications describe different hardware and advertised features, but they do not predict which camera will deliver better results in the moments you care about. Megapixel count is not a direct measure of overall image quality, and maximum zoom does not establish detail or usability at every zoom level.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

There is also a hands-on comparative finding to consider: TechRadar’s review comparison said Pixel photos were not consistently better than Samsung’s. That is a reviewer’s observation, not a controlled camera-lab result or a guarantee about every scene. Read its August 20, 2026 Pixel review alongside sample images if camera performance is central to your decision.

Think about how you shoot: moving children or pets, indoor scenes, portraits, distant subjects, or quick snapshots. Then compare samples from both phones in those situations. Pixel’s named software tools may be a reason to choose it if you will use them, but the cited sources do not establish that one camera system wins in every setting.

Battery and charging: the available specifications are not endurance tests

Android Central reports a 4,750mAh battery for Pixel and 5,000mAh for Samsung. Google says the Pixel offers over 24 hours of battery life and supports 30W wired charging and up to 25W Qi2.2 wireless charging. These numbers are not directly interchangeable: battery capacity does not determine runtime on its own, and a manufacturer duration claim is not a controlled test against a competitor.

The cited comparison does not state Samsung charging specifications, so it cannot support a charging-speed winner. If charging standards matter, verify Samsung’s exact model and local official specification sheet before buying. For wireless charging, also check that a charger explicitly supports the relevant Qi2.2 capability and is compatible with the phone; Google identifies a Qi2.2 wireless charging capability, but that alone does not validate any particular accessory.

Software and performance: choose features by use, speed by testing

Google identifies Tensor G6, 16GB RAM, Gemini Intelligence design, and foldable multitasking features for the Pixel 11 Pro Fold. Android Central reports the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and either 12GB or 16GB RAM, and characterizes Samsung as faster. The processor and memory configurations are useful facts, but neither a chip name nor a RAM number tells you how quickly your preferred games, camera processing, or multitasking workflow will perform on the finished device.

Choose Pixel for software when its specific foldable features fit your routine—for example, if you expect to use its multitasking options or Magic Capture. Choose based on actual performance evidence if you care about sustained gaming, demanding apps, or long-term responsiveness. The available sources do not supply a controlled benchmark comparison for these exact phones, so avoid treating a general claim of speed as a guarantee for every task.

What to verify before ordering

  1. Confirm the exact Samsung model. The Samsung-specific figures here come from Android Central, while the Samsung Mobile Press page available for this comparison was generic and did not confirm model details. Check Samsung’s official product page for the model name, storage, specifications, and availability in your market.
  2. Check regional variants and stock. Model names, supported configurations, and availability can differ by market. Confirm the version offered by the seller is the one you intend to compare.
  3. Compare checkout prices. Recheck current Pixel Store offers and trade-in eligibility, and verify Samsung’s price for the same storage tier. Add taxes and any carrier or financing conditions before judging value.
  4. Decide how much weight to give IP ratings. Read each manufacturer’s care and warranty terms; a protection rating does not ensure coverage for accidental damage.
  5. Look for exact-device tests where the specs do not answer your question. For endurance, gaming speed, charging behavior, and camera output, favor independent results that identify the tested model and conditions.
  6. Check accessories for exact compatibility. Google names a Pixel 11 Pro Fold case with an integrated hinge cover. Verify that the case is currently available and fits the exact phone variant. For chargers, confirm the required USB-C output or Qi2.2 support rather than relying on a generic “fast charging” label.

Verdict by buyer type

The Pixel 11 Pro Fold is the clearer fit for a buyer who prioritizes Google’s stated IP68 rating, Pixel foldable features, and its published brightness and camera-tool claims. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is the stronger fit for someone who prizes the thinner, lighter dimensions reported by Android Central and prefers its reported hardware configuration. The available evidence does not justify declaring a universal camera, battery, or performance winner. Make those priorities conditional on exact-model tests and confirmed local product details, rather than inferring a result from capacity, megapixels, or processor names alone.
