When Gemini cannot see Google Keep, the cause is usually a disconnected Workspace app, the wrong Google account, an administrator restriction, an unsupported account or location, or a temporary service problem. Reconnect Google Keep, verify the account and Workspace settings, then test with a short typed prompt such as Create a note in Google Keep titled Test with the text Gemini connection test. If the Keep option is still absent, allow for Google’s staged rollout, which can take up to 15 days after availability is announced.
What Gemini can do with Google Keep
Google’s Gemini integration can work with Keep notes and lists when the Google Keep/Workspace connection is enabled for your account. Supported actions include:
- Create a new Keep note.
- Create a named list with several items.
- Add items to an existing list.
- Find Keep notes and lists.
- Use a Keep note as context for another task, such as generating a story or song based on that note.
To identify Keep explicitly, put @Google Keep in the prompt. Google’s examples include Create a note called [note name], Create a list called [list name] with [item 1, item 2, …], Save this to Keep, and Add [item 1, item 2, …] to my list called [list name].

The integration does not support every Keep operation. Google lists sharing notes or lists, viewing images and drawings, and adding an image as unsupported actions. A prompt that depends on one of those operations can fail even when the connection itself is healthy.

Identify the failure before changing settings

Fix a missing Google Keep option
1. Sign in to the account that owns the Keep content
- Open Gemini on the web or in the Gemini mobile app.
- Check the profile picture or account switcher.
- Select the same Google account that contains the Keep notes and lists you want to use.
- If you use a work or school account, do not assume that a personal account’s access settings apply to it.
Gemini can only use content available to the account and apps currently connected in that session. If Workspace is not connected, Gemini may present a connection flow; complete it before testing again.
2. Verify Connected Apps
- Open Gemini’s settings.
- Go to Connected Apps.
- Look for the Google Workspace or Google Keep connection and turn it on if it is available but disabled.
- If it is already enabled, disconnect and reconnect it, then sign in again when prompted.
- Start a new Gemini chat after reconnecting.
Google says availability of Connected Apps can vary by account type, Workspace edition, location, language, device, and the Gemini app being used. Therefore, the absence of a Keep entry is not necessarily a browser defect.
3. Check work and school administrator controls
For an organization account, an administrator must allow Workspace apps in Gemini. The administrator path in the Google Admin console is:

Generative AI → Gemini app → Apps → Workspace apps
The administrator must permit the relevant Workspace apps. Google also requires Gemini conversation history to be on for Workspace apps. If the control is unavailable to you, only your organization’s administrator can change it; reinstalling the mobile app will not bypass that policy.
4. Check eligibility and account restrictions
Access can be limited by account age, supported locations, organization policy, or whether Gemini is enabled as an additional service. A feature may therefore work in one Google account but not another account on the same phone or browser. Test the account that should own the Keep data, and ask an administrator to confirm the organization’s Gemini and Workspace-app policy.

5. Allow for staged availability
Google announced general availability of Workspace apps in Gemini on May 13, 2025, but visibility was gradual. Google said rollout could take up to 15 days. If your account, edition, location, and policy all qualify yet the option has not appeared, wait through that rollout window before treating the delay as a local failure.
Fix a prompt that fails after Keep is connected
Use Google’s troubleshooting order so that you can separate a bad prompt from a temporary service or connection issue.
- Retry the same request once. Google notes that temporary connection or server issues often resolve right away.
- Start a new chat. A conversation can retain a failed state, an incompatible attachment, or context that prevents the action.
- Remove attachments. Retry without the file, and verify that any remaining attachment uses a supported type and stays within Gemini’s limits.
- Switch to typed input. Test in a normal text prompt instead of voice mode or Gemini Live. This removes speech-recognition and live-session variables.
- Check the internet connection. Move to a reliable Wi-Fi or cellular connection and retry.
- Wait a few minutes during heavy traffic. A temporary capacity problem can affect action execution even when other Google services load normally.
- Refresh or restart. Refresh the browser tab, force-close and reopen the Gemini app, or restart the device if the app remains stuck.
Use explicit, small prompts while testing
Keep actions are easier to diagnose when each prompt asks for one operation, names the target, and uses the @Google Keep app tag.

Create and find a test note
- Send:
@Google Keep Create a note in Google Keep titled Test with the text Gemini connection test. - After Gemini confirms the action, send:
@Google Keep Find my Test note. - If both work, the connection and basic read/write permissions are functioning.
Test a list item
Send: @Google Keep Add milk to my Test list. This assumes a list named Test already exists. If it does not, create it first with a separate prompt such as @Google Keep Create a list called Test with milk.
These test sentences follow Google’s documented action patterns. They are deliberately short so that an attachment, ambiguous note name, or unrelated request cannot obscure the result.
Separate dependent actions
Do not begin with a request that combines Keep with several other Workspace actions. If one required app is disabled, Google says neither action may complete. First create or find the Keep item, then run the second action in a new prompt. This also shows which app caused the failure.

Understand common Gemini messages

Tell a Google outage from a local configuration problem
Check the Google Workspace Status Dashboard when a previously working integration fails for many users or across both web and mobile. Google documented an incident in which some enterprise users could see Keep, Calendar, and Tasks extensions but could not use them because backend rollout configuration had not fully enabled the features. The affected window ran from October 21 to November 7, 2024; one specific outage lasted 23 hours and 1 minute and was resolved on November 7, 2024.
An outage is more likely when the same account fails in a fresh browser session and on another device, while other account settings remain unchanged. A local configuration problem is more likely when another account works on the same device, or when reconnecting the app immediately restores access. During a confirmed incident, repeated reinstallations and administrator changes will not repair Google’s backend; wait for the status update and retry afterward.

Prevent future Keep integration failures
- Keep notes and lists in the same Google account you select in Gemini.
- Leave Google Keep or Workspace enabled in Connected Apps when you need it.
- For managed accounts, confirm that the administrator still allows Workspace apps and that Gemini conversation history remains enabled.
- Use explicit prompts with
@Google Keep, a note or list name, and one action at a time. - When diagnosing a failure, remove attachments and use typed input before testing voice, Gemini Live, or complex multi-app requests.
- Remember that sharing, image and drawing access, and adding images are outside the documented Keep action set.
