  1. Open the Google Home app and select your Nest Doorbell camera.

  2. Open the camera’s settings and choose Doorbell theme.

The preview is an in-app way to hear a tone before changing the setting; you no longer have to apply a sound and physically ring the doorbell just to find out how it sounds. The feature was reported on September 30, 2026, and its rollout may vary by app version, device, or region. The available sources do not establish a complete compatibility list.

What themes can you preview?

The feature covers standard and seasonal themes already listed in Google Home; it is not a new ringtone catalog or a new doorbell model. Standard themes are the everyday choices, while seasonal themes are offered for limited periods. Google says seasonal themes appear at different times of year, so the options shown in the app can change with the calendar. Google’s Nest camera and doorbell settings help page says an enabled seasonal theme greets visitors with its unique sound and the doorbell automatically returns to its default tone after the holiday.

Seasonal options depend on timing

In its September 30, 2026 report, 9to5Google said the Oktoberfest theme was then available through October 9. That is a dated example, not a standing annual schedule for every theme or region. The sources do not establish the full 2026 schedule. If a Halloween or holiday sound is missing, it may simply not be available yet; its absence alone does not show that the doorbell is broken.

Google has previously highlighted seasonal examples such as “The Twelve Days of Christmas,” “The Dreidel Song,” and “Auld Lang Syne” in its holiday ringtone overview. Those examples are not confirmation that each sound is currently offered. Google Nest’s 2022 ringtone article also explains that short tones help avoid keeping visitors waiting: UX designer Benjamin Decker described a design rule of no more than 10 seconds.

Do you need a Nest Hub or a new doorbell?

No Nest Hub is needed to preview or select a theme; the preview workflow is in the Google Home app. A Nest Hub is an optional connected display that can show a visitor when someone rings the doorbell, as described in Google’s Nest Doorbell holiday ringtone overview. The feature concerns Nest Doorbell settings, so owners can use it without buying a new doorbell.
