Eligibility for a Google AI Pro trial depends on the offer you are using, your country, age, Google Account type, qualifying purchase or student status, and sometimes an existing Google One subscription. A personal Google Account and valid payment method are commonly required.
Most trials convert to a recurring paid Google AI Pro subscription automatically. In the documented Pixel and U.S. student offers, the stated post-trial price is $19.99 per month, subject to then-current pricing, taxes and the offer terms. Cancel through Google One before the trial ends if you do not want that charge.
What determines whether you qualify
There is no single Google AI Pro trial open to every Google user. Google applies the rules attached to each promotion, so the same account can be eligible for one route and ineligible for another. Check the offer page displayed when you try to redeem it; that page controls the current duration, geography, deadline, qualifying product and price.
Account type
You must sign in with a personal Google Account for the documented offers. A work, school or other managed account may not qualify under the personal-account requirement. Use the account that will own the Google One membership, because the subscription and its benefits attach to that account.

Age and feature restrictions
Google’s age rules vary by feature rather than applying one universal age threshold. Many advanced Gemini capabilities, Gemini features in Gmail and Docs, AI Studio and Flow require the user to be at least 18. The Gemini app and some other capabilities generally require the user to be over 13, or above the applicable age in the user’s country. A promotion can impose a separate age rule: the Pixel device offer, for example, requires a U.S. resident who is 18 or older.
Existing Google One memberships
Google says current Google One members who subscribed through a third-party partner or Pixel Pass cannot sign up directly for an AI Pro plan. Promotion terms can also exclude Google One add-on subscribers, people already on a higher tier, family members who are not the family plan manager, and third-party or affiliate subscriptions. If your account is already billed through another seller, review that seller’s instructions before attempting redemption.
Payment method
A valid payment method is commonly required even when the trial price is zero. Google uses that payment method for the subscription after the promotional period unless you cancel. A failed, expired or removed payment method can interrupt conversion or create a billing problem, so verify it before claiming the offer.
Current documented trial routes
The following routes and dates are stated in Google’s published 2026 material. They are separate promotions, not a guarantee that one account can stack or combine them.

Pixel 11 Pro family offer
Google Store terms describe six months of Google AI Pro at no cost when you purchase and activate an eligible Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL or Pixel 11 Pro Fold. The offer is limited to U.S. residents aged 18 or older and requires a valid payment method. Redemption must occur by October 31, 2027, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time.

The terms exclude Google One add-on subscribers, users on a higher tier, family members who are not the plan manager, and subscriptions obtained through a third party or affiliate. Buying a qualifying phone therefore does not by itself guarantee eligibility; your account and existing billing arrangement must also satisfy the exclusions.
Googlebook offer
Google Store terms describe a Google AI Pro trial for users who purchase and activate an eligible Googlebook on or after October 1, 2026. The listed markets are Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States. The redemption deadline is March 31, 2027, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time.

For this route, Google states that the subscription will charge $19.99 per month, or the then-current subscription fee, after the trial ends. Any applicable offer is deducted, and applicable taxes are added. Because the terms do not establish one universal duration in the material available here, rely on the duration shown during your own redemption flow.
U.S. college student offer
In an August 19, 2026 announcement, Google said eligible college students in the United States can claim one year of Google AI Pro for free. Google valued the offer at $19.99 per month. A valid payment method is required, and redemption ends December 31, 2026.
The student promotion automatically charges $19.99 per month after the free year unless you cancel. Google describes students outside the United States as eligible for Google AI Plus in more than 140 markets, with separate terms; that statement does not make the U.S. AI Pro offer available worldwide.

What to check before you redeem
Use this checklist on the exact Google Account and device involved in the promotion:
- Confirm that the account is a personal Google Account, not an account managed by an employer or school.
- Check your age against both the promotion’s rule and the age requirement for the features you intend to use.
- Verify the country or residence requirement. The Pixel route is U.S.-only; the Googlebook route lists eight countries; the student AI Pro route is U.S.-only.
- Confirm that the qualifying device was purchased and activated within the dates stated by its offer.
- Check whether you already have Google One, especially a plan billed through a third party or Pixel Pass, an add-on subscription, a higher tier or a family membership where you are not the plan manager.
- Add or verify a valid payment method before completing redemption.
- Record the trial end date and redemption deadline separately. The date by which you must claim an offer is not necessarily the date your personal trial ends.
- Read the offer screen for the current monthly price, taxes, applied discounts and any additional bundle conditions.
How auto-renewal works
Google One’s Terms of Service state: “At the end of the trial period, and to the extent permitted by applicable law, you will be automatically charged the price of the subscription each billing period if you provided a valid form of payment to the seller, and will continue to be charged until you cancel your subscription.”
In practical terms, entering a payment method changes a free trial into a subscription that is scheduled to become paid. Google One subscriptions have an indefinite term and are charged at the beginning of each billing cycle, such as monthly or annually. The Pixel and U.S. student examples state $19.99 per month after the trial, but that is not a permanent worldwide price: the charge is subject to the then-current subscription fee, applicable taxes and the specific offer terms.
Do not assume that deleting the payment method, removing the app or letting the qualifying device go unused cancels the membership. Use the cancellation control in Google One and keep the confirmation. If you redeem multiple promotions, each offer’s terms determine whether they can coexist; the published material does not establish that trial periods stack.
How to cancel before the first charge
Google directs users to manage cancellation from Gemini settings. The labels can vary slightly by device, but the documented path is:

- Open Gemini and go to Settings.
- Select Manage subscription. This opens your Google One settings.
- Choose Cancel membership.
- Follow the confirmation prompts until Google confirms the cancellation.
Cancel before the displayed trial end or next billing date to avoid the automatic charge. Save the confirmation email or take a screenshot of the cancellation status. If you cannot see the cancellation option, make sure Gemini is signed in to the same personal Google Account that redeemed the offer and that you are the plan manager rather than a family member.
Cancellation versus deleting Google One
Google’s general terms say cancellation normally preserves access for the remainder of the current billing period. Deleting Google One can remove access immediately, so it is not the same action as scheduling cancellation. During a free trial, the practical result depends on the offer and the account screen; read the confirmation message before accepting it if you need the benefits to remain available until the stated end date.
What you lose when AI Pro ends
When the trial or paid membership ends, Google lists the loss of Pro-only Gemini chats and features, expanded Drive, Gmail and Photos storage, direct Google expert support, and Gemini in Gmail and Docs. Plan your storage and workflows before cancellation: files or mail that exceed the lower post-membership storage allowance may require cleanup or another storage plan.
Google also lists a YouTube Premium Lite individual plan as a benefit under the relevant bundle conditions. YouTube Premium Lite is unavailable during the free AI Pro or AI Pro Student trial; it becomes available after conversion to paid service when the bundle conditions are met. It is an individual benefit for the plan manager and is not shared with family members. Ending AI Pro removes that benefit according to the applicable bundle terms.

Choosing between offers
If you have more than one possible route, compare the terms rather than choosing only by the headline duration. A longer trial can be less useful if your country, account type or existing Google One billing arrangement makes you ineligible.

Common problems and fixes
“I bought the device, but the offer is missing.”
Check that the device is an eligible model, was activated within the offer’s qualifying period, and is signed in to the personal account you intend to use. For the Pixel promotion, verify U.S. residence, age 18 or older and the exclusion rules for existing Google One plans, higher tiers, family members and third-party subscriptions.
“Google says I already have Google One.”
Determine how the existing membership is billed. Google specifically says third-party-partner and Pixel Pass members cannot sign up directly for an AI Pro plan. A family member who is not the plan manager can also be excluded from the Pixel offer. Do not cancel an existing plan blindly; review its seller and the new promotion’s terms first.
“I expected the trial to stay free because I removed the app.”
Uninstalling Gemini does not cancel a Google One subscription. Follow Gemini Settings > Manage subscription > Cancel membership and confirm that cancellation is recorded.

That can be normal when cancellation has been scheduled rather than ended immediately. Google’s general terms normally preserve access through the current billing period. Check the membership page for the date access ends; deleting Google One is treated differently and may remove access immediately.
Bottom line for avoiding an unwanted charge
Redeem only after confirming the route’s country, age, account, qualifying-purchase or student requirements and deadline. Treat every trial as scheduled to become paid once a payment method is entered. For the documented Pixel and U.S. student offers, budget for a possible $19.99 monthly charge plus taxes after six or 12 months, and cancel in Google One before the displayed billing date if you do not want to continue.
