Fortnite Sprites are seasonal creatures whose abilities and uses change between modes and seasons. In Chapter 6 Season 1, you could throw Air and Water Sprites or exchange items with an Earth Sprite, then take a Sprite to a Shrine to earn a Boon. In later modes, Sprites became collectibles you could carry into future matches. Their exact locations and available abilities depend on the season and mode.
What Sprites are in Fortnite
Epic introduced Sprites in Battle Royale Chapter 6 Season 1 as magical creatures roaming the island. The original trio—Air, Water, and Earth—each had a different interaction. These are season-specific mechanics, not a verified list of every Sprite available in Fortnite now. Epic’s Chapter 6 Season 1 announcement described them as “the living representation of Magic returned to the Island.”
Chapter 6 Season 1 Sprite abilities
| Sprite | How you used it | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Air Sprite | Throw it | Creates an updraft wind vortex that can lift players into a glider redeploy, damage builds, and launch vehicles. |
| Water Sprite | Throw it | Creates a healing fountain that restores health and shields to nearby players. |
| Earth Sprite | Give it items | Accepts items in exchange for a reward. |
These effects are documented for Chapter 6 Season 1; the official announcement does not establish that they remain available in the live game or work the same way in later seasons.
How Sprite Shrines and Boons worked
In Chapter 6 Season 1, bring a Sprite to a forgotten Sprite Shrine to revitalize it and receive a Boon. Epic listed four Boons with separate effects:

That season’s announcement also said Boons could be found in Chests or dropped by bosses, were consumed on pickup, and persisted after elimination. Those details are specific to Chapter 6 Season 1 and should not be assumed to describe later Boon systems.
How later Sprite systems changed
Season 3: Runners collection loop
In its June 5, 2026 announcement for Fortnite: Runners, Epic described a different approach: find a Sprite in a match, extract it to add it to your collection, then take collected Sprites into future matches so their powers are available from the beginning. The announcement gave shields, temporary invisibility, and bonus burst damage as example powers. Read Epic’s Runners announcement for that mode’s details.
Sprite Garden in Chapter 7 Season 4
Epic’s August 20, 2026 Chapter 7 Season 4 announcement said Sprites from Season 3: Runners remained available in Sprite Garden, where players could play with them and show their collections. This is a mode-specific continuation, not evidence that the original Battle Royale Sprite Shrine loop returned. See Epic’s Chapter 7 Season 4 announcement.

Batman Sprite variant
A separate DC Sirens announcement on July 16, 2026 described a Batman Sprite that granted a midair Bat Cape and increased the frequency of rare Sprite finds in Battle Royale chests. That is a named seasonal variant; it is not a generic effect shared by all Sprites. Epic’s DC Sirens announcement provides the variant details.
Where to find Sprites
For Chapter 6 Season 1, Epic said Sprites roamed “all over” the island. Its Runners announcement said Sprites were across that mode’s new island. Neither statement supplies a verified list of exact spawn coordinates, guaranteed landing spots, or current spawn rates. Because the map and Sprite mechanics can change by season and mode, check the current in-game map and mode information rather than relying on an old route.
How to choose or use a Sprite
First identify the season and mode you are playing: a Sprite you throw or trade in one season may instead be something you extract and carry into future matches in another. Then match its effect to what you need—mobility, healing or support, an item exchange, offense, or concealment. Official announcements provide examples, but do not establish a current cross-mode ranking, numerical strength, duration, rarity, or drop-rate comparison.
