Start with the exact message on screen and whether one server or every server fails. Check Steam News, the official WARDOGS Discord and the @WARDOGS account on X for an incident, install any pending update, and launch WARDOGS rather than WARDOGS Playtest. For a failed join, refresh the browser and try another Official and another Community listing before changing Windows settings. For lag or mid-match drops, run one match on wired Ethernet with downloads paused. If the message mentions Elytra, repair Elytra from the live game folder; deleting an old Easy Anti-Cheat folder does not repair the current client.
What should I check before changing Windows settings?
WARDOGS is a Steam Early Access PC game, so a client hotfix or service incident can look like a local network problem. The game supports up to 100 players divided among three teams, and the browser separates Official matches from Community-hosted matches. Identify the failure stage first; changing several settings at once hides the cause.
- Login or queue: Steam authentication or the service is not accepting players.
- Empty browser: filters, region, maintenance or a service problem can hide listings.
- Failed to join: the browser worked, but the selected instance rejected the final join.
- Rubber-banding: packet loss or loaded latency, not necessarily low frame rate.
- Freeze or stutter: a graphics-performance problem rather than network lag.
- Removed, kicked or anti-cheat message: server rules, account enforcement, Elytra or a client integrity problem.
Before dismissing a dialog, record the UTC time, server name or ID, region, Official or Community category, game version and a screenshot. This information makes a support report actionable.

Use this order: confirm the live game, update Steam, widen the browser search, then test another listing and category. Only after the failure follows every server should you change firewall, VPN or connection settings.

- Confirm the executable. In Steam, launch WARDOGS, not WARDOGS Playtest. For error 1147405309 (limited access), open Steam Account details > Licenses and confirm the released-game license. A Playtest invitation does not grant that license.
- Finish updates. Open Steam Downloads and complete any WARDOGS update. Then use Steam > Exit (including the tray), reopen Steam in Online mode and start the live client.
- Reset the browser search. In DEPLOY, choose Official or Community, clear the server-name search, select one nearby region, enable Show Empty and Show Full under Advanced Filters, widen player, level and cash limits, and press Refresh. Check each filter manually even after using Reset.
- Change the listing before Windows. Try another server in the same region, then one Official and one Community listing. If all nearby listings reject the join, change region once.
- Compare connections only when every server fails. Disable a VPN or proxy, allow the game through Windows Firewall, test a phone hotspot, and verify files after that comparison.
What does “Failed to join the desired session” (1147405300) mean?
This code means login and the browser succeeded but the selected match refused the final join. Refresh, select another listing in the same region, then try the other server category. If the error follows you across Official and Community servers, check Steam Downloads and restart Steam before deeper network work.
How do I fix “Server queue is full” (1147405316)?
The complete message is “Failed to join server. Server queue is full.” Choose another match or a listing with several free slots. A server showing 98/100 can fill before your request arrives, and the displayed player count does not reveal remaining queue capacity. No Windows setting or port-forwarding rule can add slots to that queue.
How do I fix JOIN TIMED OUT (1628505091)?
The message is “Failed to connect to the server in a reasonable time.” One timeout on one listing usually means a stale, dead or restarting instance. If every Official and Community listing in multiple regions times out while other players are connecting, follow this sequence:
- Disable any VPN or proxy for one test.
- Allow

What should I do with error 1147405308?
Current guides show 1147405308 as “Failed to authenticate with online services.” Restart Steam, install the current update and compare another connection. Launch-week reports also treated some cases as a version mismatch cleared by the hotfix, so updating covers both interpretations.
Why is the WARDOGS server browser empty?
An empty list is often a filter or region setting, but it can also occur during maintenance or a service incident. In DEPLOY, clear the name field, choose one nearby region, enable Show Empty and Show Full, widen all player, level and cash limits, and press Refresh. Then inspect Steam Downloads and current announcements. Do not assume a blank browser means every server is down.

What should I do if WARDOGS disconnects or removes me from a match?
Save the wording before closing the dialog. “Kicked from server,” an anti-cheat warning, an inactivity notice and a silent return to the menu have different causes.

If there is no ban text, rejoin the same server promptly. Players have reported returning to headquarters with the previous loadout while the match continued; if a friend remains in the instance, ask for a server invite so you can target that server again.
When removals repeat across servers, test Ethernet, then a phone hotspot, and restart the router. A third-party traffic-routing tool is not a required WARDOGS fix; if you already use one, compare one match with it and one without it rather than assuming it helps. A single player report about one such tool is anecdotal, not a general result.
How do I fix WARDOGS lag, rubber-banding and delayed hits?
Separate network symptoms from frame-rate symptoms. Rubber-banding, teleporting and delayed hit registration point to packet loss or loaded latency. A freeze or stutter that coincides with low FPS points to the graphics path. A sudden disconnect can be routing instability or a failed server instance.

- Connect the PC directly to the router with a Cat 6 Ethernet cable. For a laptop without a wired port, use a USB-C Gigabit Ethernet adapter.
- Pause Steam downloads, cloud synchronization, video uploads and other traffic for one diagnostic match.
- Measure latency while idle and while the connection is loaded. A large rise during uploads or downloads indicates bufferbloat or queueing.
- Check loss first to the home gateway and then beyond it. If loss remains on a quiet wired path, compare another online game and ask the ISP about the route before changing router ports.
- If loaded latency is the problem, enable the router’s documented SQM or smart-QoS feature and shape traffic slightly below the real line rate.
Wi-Fi retries can cause short freezes even when a speed test reports a high download rate. For the diagnostic match, move closer to the access point, prefer 5 GHz or 6 GHz, avoid a weak mesh backhaul and keep other devices quiet. A Bluetooth controller or headset that repeatedly drops can mimic network lag; test with a wired peripheral.

ComputerSluggish’s general recovery order is to power-cycle the router for about 30 seconds, restart the PC, allow Steam and WARDOGS through Windows Firewall, disable a VPN for one test and verify files before reinstalling. If several online games fail, run ipconfig /flushdns and netsh winsock reset, then restart Windows. These commands are later Windows-stack checks, not a substitute for testing the physical link.
What if the problem is low FPS rather than network lag?
Steam’s minimum requirements are a broadband connection, 16 GB RAM, 50 GB storage, Windows 10, an Intel Core i5-8600 or AMD Ryzen 5 3500, and an Nvidia GTX 1660 or Radeon RX 590. Those requirements do not guarantee a stable frame rate during a 100-player fight with destruction. Change one graphics setting at a time, starting with Global Illumination and Shadows. If diagnosing a crash, record whether Frame Generation is enabled; Season 1 notes included frame-generation crash fixes.
How do I repair the WARDOGS Elytra anti-cheat error?
Live WARDOGS uses Elytra kernel-level anti-cheat. Older posts refer to Easy Anti-Cheat because earlier builds used a different package; deleting an EAC folder that is not in the current installation does nothing.
“Anti-Cheat failed to login correctly” (1628505086)
- Check Steam News, Discord and X for a shared anti-cheat incident.
- Restart Windows to reload the Elytra service and driver.
- Verify files through Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files.
- Open the Elytra folder inside the live WARDOGS installation, run
Elytra-Setup.exeas administrator, choose Repair, restart Windows and launch from Steam.
Module will not download or install
Open Elytra-Setup.exe Properties, select Digital Signatures > Details > View Certificate > Certification Path and continue until Windows reports “This certificate is OK,” then run Repair. A hotspot test can reveal blocking by a school, workplace, ISP, VPN or proxy.
The anti-cheat service refuses the executable
Close Riot Vanguard from the tray, FACEIT Anti-Cheat and any other running anti-cheat, restart Steam, verify files and repair Elytra. Stop troubleshooting once the game reaches shader compilation or the main menu. Do not change BIOS settings for a generic disconnect: Bulkhead’s current policy says Secure Boot and TPM are not required, although that policy could change.
For WD-L020, install the current client first. Update 0.1.2 included a Windows 11 WD-L020 fix associated with KB5124010 in a published account. Former Playtest owners may also need to remove leftover Playtest files if they conflict with the live installation. Linux, SteamOS/Steam Deck and Bazzite are unsupported, so Windows Elytra steps do not establish Proton compatibility.

Is a Community-server kick different from a WARDOGS ban?
Yes. Community hosts rent and administer their own servers. Their administrators can kick or ban for any reason on that server, and Bulkhead does not review or overturn those decisions. Official matches are Bulkhead-operated; a restriction that follows you to every server is a game-wide issue instead.
Bulkhead enforcement can include a server restriction, temporary suspension, permanent account ban or hardware ban. A game-wide action blocks online play, including Community servers. Only permanent account bans are appealable: email appeal@bulkhead.com with your account name and platform. Bulkhead says a person reviews appeals and aims to respond within 30 days; detection evidence is not shared. Server restrictions, temporary suspensions and standalone hardware bans are not eligible for appeal. “Access Denied” or error 1147405307 can indicate a ban or suspension; use the WARDOGS Support Bot and the enforcement policy at wardogs.com/enforcement.
Unlockers, boosters and client-modifying “undetected” services violate the enforcement policy. Do not install them while diagnosing connection problems.
Why am I removed after standing still?
WARDOGS does not publish a first-party AFK duration. Screen Hype reported a community range of roughly three to five minutes with an inconsistent timer, so treat that as an observation rather than a guaranteed cutoff. If the dialog identifies inactivity, rejoin when you are ready to play instead of changing network settings.
How do I restore voice chat after a failed join?
The Season 1 launch changelog reported fixes for stale channels, voice loss after a failed join, push-to-talk targeting and re-login recovery. Update the client, then confirm the input and output devices, microphone permission, push-to-talk binding and the in-game communication status. A community workaround recorded by Screen Hype is to press the scoreboard VOIP key twice (default U) to toggle voice off and on.

Should I forward ports for WARDOGS?
No random port list is an official player-client fix. Bulkhead has not published a player-client UDP/TCP port list. If the server browser loads and another listing accepts a join, that part of the online path is already functioning. Focus on the documented Ethernet, firewall, hotspot and file-verification comparisons instead.

When should I keep waiting in a queue?
Keep waiting only when a current official notice says the queue is moving or service capacity is being restored. At launch on 10 September 2026, AllThingsHow documented a peak of 337,157 concurrent players and queue positions beyond 300,000; that dated event is not a standing instruction. During that incident, Bulkhead CEO Joe Brammer said, “I wouldn’t leave the queue, I’d just stay in.” The WARDOGS account separately warned, “We’re performing another restart. All players are about to be logged out. There will be temporary downtime whilst we get things back online.” Today, follow current Steam News, Discord and X notices rather than sitting in a six-figure queue without confirmation.
How do I verify files and report an unresolved problem?
- Open Steam Library > WARDOGS > Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files. “Local Files” is an older Steam label; use the current Installed Files tab.
- Reproduce the problem once after verification, noting whether another server or a hotspot worked.
- Send the build/version, exact message and code, UTC time, server ID/name, region, Official or Community category, operating system, CPU, GPU, RAM, driver version and steps already tried to the WARDOGS Support Bot in the official Discord or support@bulkhead.com.
- Attach
%LOCALAPPDATA%WardogsSavedLogsWardogs.log. Redact passwords, keys, recovery codes and other credentials.
Steam News has recorded several dated fixes: Launch Stability Hotfix #1 on 10 September 2026 targeted failed joins, unexpected kicks and long queues; Update 0.1.2 on 30 September addressed security issues and WD-L020; a security and stability hotfix was scheduled for 2 October at 08:00 UTC; and Season 02/Update 0.2.0 went live in October. These dates explain why updating is the first repair, but they are not a live outage feed.
What is the shortest decision path?
- One server fails: refresh, try another listing and compare Official with Community.
- Every server fails to join: update Steam, disable VPN/proxy, allow the executable through Firewall, test a hotspot and verify files.
- Rubber-band or delayed hits: test wired Ethernet with all background traffic paused; investigate loaded latency and packet loss.
- Freeze with low FPS: adjust Global Illumination and Shadows one at a time and check drivers.
- Anti-cheat code 1628505086: restart Windows, verify files and repair Elytra.
- Community-only kick: contact that server’s administrators; Bulkhead cannot reverse it.
- Access Denied or 1147405307 everywhere: check enforcement status and use the appeal route only for a permanent account ban.

Can a full WARDOGS server still show open slots?
Yes. The displayed player count does not show remaining queue capacity, and a listing at 98/100 can fill before your join request arrives. Choose another listing rather than changing firewall or router settings.
Does WARDOGS support Steam Deck or Linux?
No official support is stated for Linux, SteamOS/Steam Deck or Bazzite. The Windows Elytra repair procedure should not be treated as evidence that Proton will work.
What does a WARDOGS server ban affect?
A Community administrator’s ban applies only to that server. A Bulkhead suspension, permanent account ban or hardware ban blocks online play across Official and Community servers.
Where are WARDOGS logs stored?
The client log is at %LOCALAPPDATA%WardogsSavedLogsWardogs.log. Include it with the exact code, UTC time, server and connection comparisons, after removing credentials or recovery codes.
