Hyphen is an iPhone App Store app, and its three common failure points are separate: a download problem belongs to the App Store, an opening problem belongs to the installed app or iOS, and a sign-in problem usually involves Hyphen’s passwordless email code. Start with the official Hyphen website and its App Store listing (ID 6774939168); do not use an unofficial IPA or APK. If the listing is missing, the download may be unavailable in your storefront rather than broken on your iPhone. For sign-in, use the one-time code sent to the account email—not your Apple Account password and not a six-digit co-parent or child-device pairing code.

What is Hyphen, and where should it be installed?
This guide covers Hyphen, the iOS co-parenting app at hyphen-app.com. It combines a shared calendar, secure messages, expense tracking, document storage, requests and approvals, and a parenting journal. The vendor describes it as private and court-friendly. It is not Microsoft Word hyphenation, a programming library, an Affinity dictionary or a Dell Data Domain username.
The documented installation route is the App Store button on the official site, which opens App Store ID 6774939168. The official site does not document an Android, Windows or Mac client, and there is no separate installer, dongle or physical product. Do not download a file from a random APK or IPA site.

Apple’s iTunes Lookup API returned resultCount: 0 for ID 6774939168 in the United States, United Kingdom and France on October 29, 2026. The Hyphen website still displays its App Store button, so availability, version, file size and minimum iOS requirement are currently unverified in Apple’s public catalog. If the official link does not resolve, save a screenshot and contact Hyphen rather than sideloading.
How do I fix Hyphen not installing or stuck downloading?
Hyphen does not publish its own installer. Your iPhone must be signed in to an Apple Account that can download apps, have a working connection and enough device storage, and meet the app’s current iOS requirement. Work through these checks in order.
1. Open the official App Store link
Open hyphen-app.com, tap Download on the App Store, and verify that the destination is App Store ID 6774939168. If App Store search shows nothing while the website button also fails, do not search for an unofficial package. The catalog result may be unavailable in your country or temporarily absent; send Hyphen support the storefront, iOS version and a screenshot.
2. Check Apple’s service status
When App Store downloads, Apple Account authentication or updates fail, check Apple’s System Status page. Apple’s App Store connection guidance, published July 15, 2026, covers “Cannot connect” messages, apps that load nothing and content that stops downloading. If Apple reports an outage, wait for the service to recover before changing the app itself.
3. Verify that the iPhone is online
Open Safari and load an ordinary website. On cellular, go to Settings → Cellular and make sure cellular data is enabled for the App Store. If Wi-Fi fails on every device, power-cycle the router; if other devices work, investigate the iPhone’s VPN, security or filtering software. Apple recommends testing another network, such as a personal hotspot, to rule out a school, work or public Wi-Fi filter.
4. Correct the date and time
Go to Settings → General → Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically. An incorrect clock can invalidate encrypted connections to Apple and to Hyphen’s authentication service. Apple identifies date and time as a connection check in its App Store and VPN/security guidance.
5. Update iOS
Open Settings → General → Software Update → Download and Install. Keep the iPhone connected to power and Wi-Fi while it updates. Apple’s iOS/iPadOS update guidance, published September 15, 2026, notes that a VPN or proxy can block update servers, so temporarily remove that obstacle if the update cannot be reached.

Go to Settings → General → iPhone Storage (the exact device label can vary). Use Apple’s Recommendations, then offload or delete unused apps. Offloading keeps an app’s documents and data while removing its program; deleting removes the app and its local data. You do not need to buy more iCloud storage to create free space on the iPhone. 7. Temporarily remove connection filters
Apple says third-party software that monitors network connections can block required connections. Look in Settings and in your installed apps for names containing VPN, Firewall, Antivirus, Protection, Security, Shield or Virus. Also search Settings for VPN, profile, firewall and filter. Turn the feature off or remove the profile, restart the iPhone, and retry the download. Apple’s security-software article was published December 8, 2025.
If the App Store remains unreachable, reset network settings only after recording Wi-Fi passwords and other network details: Settings → General → Transfer or Reset iPhone → Reset → Reset Network Settings. The reset removes saved Wi-Fi networks and VPN/network settings, then you must join Wi-Fi again.
8. Check Apple Account and restrictions
The Apple Account shown in the App Store must be allowed to download apps. Screen Time or content restrictions can hide or block an app, and a country or region mismatch can change which listings appear. Check Settings → [your name] → Media & Purchases and Settings → Screen Time → Content & Privacy Restrictions. Hyphen’s country-by-country listing availability is not confirmed while Apple’s public lookup returns no result for the app ID.

9. Retry on a different connection
Switch between home Wi-Fi, cellular data and a personal hotspot. A download that works on one network but not another points to a router, DNS filter, workplace policy or security service rather than Hyphen’s app package.
Why will Hyphen not open after installation?
An installed icon that crashes, does nothing or shows a cloud symbol usually needs the standard iOS app-recovery sequence. Hyphen has not published a crash-code matrix, so use these Apple-supported steps before contacting the vendor.
1. Restart the iPhone
Restart the iPhone completely, then try Hyphen again. If the app opens but stalls while loading account data, restart the modem or router as well. Apple lists restarting as a first-line remedy for connection failures.
2. Quit and reopen Hyphen
Follow Apple’s current guide, Quit and reopen an app on iPhone. The gesture differs by iPhone model and iOS version; Apple’s guide provides selectors for iOS 27, iOS 26 and iOS 18, so use the instructions that match your phone rather than an old button combination.

An offloaded app keeps its icon but removes its program until it can be downloaded again. Open Settings → General → iPhone Storage → Hyphen. If the page says the app was offloaded, tap the icon to redownload it, or choose Delete App and install it again from the official App Store link.

4. Update iOS and Hyphen
Install any available iOS update. Once the Hyphen listing is visible, open the App Store, tap your account picture and install an available Hyphen update. Operating-system and app updates can contain compatibility and crash fixes, but Hyphen has not published version-specific release notes.
5. Delete and reinstall cleanly
Go to Settings → General → iPhone Storage → Hyphen → Delete App, restart the iPhone, and download Hyphen again from the official link. Deleting removes related local data. Hyphen’s account data is associated with your email sign-in, but you should not assume that a local-only draft survives deletion. After reinstalling, request a fresh email code and sign in again.
6. Check hidden apps and Screen Time
iOS can lock or hide an app, and Screen Time can restrict App Store downloads or app use. Review the App Library’s hidden area and Settings → Screen Time → Content & Privacy Restrictions. A hidden or restricted icon can look like an installation or opening failure.
7. Use the correct child-device flow
Hyphen’s optional location feature uses a secondary phone for a child. A parent installs Hyphen on that child device and pairs it with a six-digit code generated in the parent account. The child phone is not a second parent login; expecting to sign in there as the parent can make a correct pairing flow appear broken.
How do I fix Hyphen not signing in?
Hyphen uses passwordless authentication. Its Terms of Service state: “You must be at least 18 years old and a parent or legal guardian to create an account. You are responsible for keeping access to your account secure and for the activity that takes place under it. Sign-in is passwordless, using a one-time code sent to your email address; keep access to that email secure.” There is no Hyphen password to reset.
1. Request the code for the account email
Enter the email address that owns the Hyphen account and request a new one-time code. Do not enter the password for your Apple Account; Apple Account authentication only controls App Store downloads. Use the newest code, because one-time codes expire.
2. Search every relevant mailbox folder
Check Inbox, Spam or Junk, Promotions and any quarantine or filtering service. Confirm that the address has no spelling error and that you can receive new messages. Mail-provider delays can make an older code arrive after a newer one; when that happens, use the latest code.

Code requests and account synchronization need internet access to Hyphen’s authentication service. Apply the connection checks above: test Wi-Fi and cellular, disable a VPN or content filter that blocks the route, verify automatic date and time, and try a different network. Safari working for ordinary sites does not prove that a filter permits every service Hyphen needs.

4. Keep the two six-digit codes separate

Paste the household code only into the co-parent onboarding or co-parent screen. Enter the email code only in the sign-in flow.
5. Check age and guardian eligibility
Hyphen requires an account creator to be at least 18 and a parent or legal guardian. An under-18 user or someone who is not a parent or guardian can encounter a blocked account-creation flow that looks like a technical sign-in failure.
6. Do not treat a subscription as authentication
Hyphen Premium on the homepage and Hyphen Pro in the Support FAQ and Terms refer to the Apple-billed subscription. A lapsed subscription can hide Premium features, but it is not documented as a requirement for email-code sign-in. If you need to manage billing, use Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on the iPhone.

7. Refresh a damaged keychain token
Hyphen’s Privacy Policy says authentication tokens are stored in the iOS keychain. A phone restore, Apple Account switch or damaged keychain can leave a stale token. Hyphen does not publish a separate keychain-reset procedure; a clean uninstall and reinstall followed by a fresh email code is the practical recovery step. Do not delete the app until you have considered any local drafts that have not synced.
What if Hyphen’s service, authentication or sync is down?
Hyphen’s Privacy Policy says it uses Supabase for its database, authentication and file storage in the European Union, Apple Push Notification service for notifications, and RevenueCat plus Apple for subscription status and payments. Optional calmer-rewording uses Anthropic on the server and is not required for account sign-in. A problem with authentication or file sync can therefore affect sign-in even while the App Store is working.
Hyphen does not publish a public status page, error-code list or official step-by-step installer FAQ. If several networks fail, the email code never arrives, or a fresh installation cannot complete onboarding, record the time, iOS version, exact message and a screenshot and contact support. The vendor’s documented channel is contact@swishlive.com; Hyphen says, “We’re here to help. Most questions get a reply within one business day.”

The homepage advertises Hyphen Premium at €4.99 per month; the Support FAQ and Terms call the same paid tier Hyphen Pro. This is an Apple App Store subscription, not a credit-card form inside Hyphen. Hyphen’s Terms say: “Some features are available through Hyphen Pro, an auto-renewable subscription billed through your Apple App Store account. Payment is charged at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; you manage and cancel subscriptions in your App Store account settings. Any free trial is clearly presented before purchase. Refunds are handled by Apple in accordance with App Store policy.”

What privacy and account details matter when troubleshooting?
Hyphen’s Privacy Policy, last updated June 11, 2026, lists “Email address, display name” for the account and describes sign-in as “passwordless, by one-time email code” for identifying you to your co-parent. It states: “We do not sell your data, and we do not use advertising or third-party tracking SDKs.”
The same policy says: “Your data is stored on servers located in the European Union (Frankfurt, Germany). Connections are encrypted in transit, access is protected by per-household security rules, and authentication tokens are stored in the device’s secure keychain.” The Terms of Service and Privacy Policy were both last updated June 11, 2026. The Terms are governed by French law, without prejudice to local consumer rights, and Hyphen is an organizational tool rather than legal advice.
When should I contact Hyphen or Apple?
- Contact Apple: the App Store or Apple Account is unavailable, Apple’s System Status page reports an outage, or another App Store app also cannot download.
- Contact Hyphen: App Store ID 6774939168 is missing from the official link, a clean installation repeatedly crashes, an email code never arrives on multiple networks, or your account, billing or data needs attention.
- Email: contact@swishlive.com. Include the iPhone model, iOS version, country or storefront, the exact step that fails, the time it happened and screenshots. Remove private message contents and any unrelated personal information before sending.
Hyphen states that account and data deletion requests also go through this email address and are actioned within the legally required timeframe. There is no documented in-app live chat.

What should you check before trying again?
- Use the official Hyphen site and App Store ID 6774939168; never sideload an IPA or APK.
- Separate the Apple Account used to download the app from Hyphen’s email one-time code used to sign in.
- Keep the co-parent household code and child-device pairing code out of the login field.
- Check Apple service status, network filters, automatic date and time, iOS updates and available device storage.
- After deleting and reinstalling, expect to request a fresh email code and do not assume unsynced local drafts remain.

What claims has Hyphen published about its service?
Hyphen’s homepage states that more than 50K families trust Hyphen, more than 1M messages have been sent securely, more than 5M events have been organized and the app has a 4.8 average rating. These are vendor marketing figures from 2026, not independently audited download, rating or crash-free statistics. Apple’s public catalog did not return the app listing for the United States, United Kingdom or France on October 29, 2026, so those figures cannot be independently confirmed through that catalog check.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does deleting the Hyphen app cancel Hyphen Pro or Premium?
No cancellation path is documented through deleting the app. Because the subscription is billed by Apple, open Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions to manage renewal; contact Hyphen separately if you want the account or its data deleted.
Why can an email verification code arrive after the newer code?
Mail providers can delay or reorder automated messages. Request one new code, check spam and quarantine folders, and use the newest message before contacting support; older one-time codes may have expired.
Is Hyphen intended to provide legal advice for a custody dispute?
No. Hyphen’s Terms describe it as an organizational tool, not legal advice. Preserve records according to your own legal adviser’s instructions and treat the app’s court-friendly description as a product claim, not a legal guarantee.
What information should I remove from a support screenshot?
Crop out unrelated conversations, children’s personal details, full email addresses and any household codes that are still valid. Leave the error text, the Hyphen screen, iOS version and time visible so support can identify the failure.
