There is no universal substitute, product sequence, or wear schedule: ask your operating surgeon which option suits your procedure and recovery stage.
What can you use instead of a faja after lipo 360?
The practical alternatives are other forms of compression—such as a post-surgical garment or adjustable abdominal binder—and, when your surgeon recommends them, foam padding or an abdominal board. These are not interchangeable by default. Your surgeon’s plan should account for the areas treated, your recovery, garment fit, and any other procedure performed at the same time.
The American Academy of Dermatology says liposuction aftercare may include a compression garment. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) describes an elastic bandage, support bra, or compression garment and advises patients to ask their plastic surgeon how long to wear it. AAD liposuction guidance and ASPS recovery guidance support compression as a possible part of care; neither identifies one faja replacement that is right for every patient.

For general liposuction aftercare, see MedlinePlus. One practice’s liposuction recovery instructions describe foam padding or an abdominal board for certain areas; that is an example of practice-specific guidance, not a standard requirement for all lipo 360 patients.

How to choose an option with your surgeon
Rather than choosing by product name or an assumed stage system, discuss the specific garment or accessory with your operating surgeon. Compare the options using these questions:
- Coverage: Does it cover the abdomen, flanks, and other areas treated in your procedure?
- Fit and adjustability: Can you wear it as directed without it digging in, leaving creases, or chafing?
- Comfort and skin tolerance: Can you tolerate it while following the care team’s plan?
- Practical use: When your care team permits, can you manage dressing changes, washing, and ordinary movement in it?
- Clinical compatibility: Has your operating surgeon approved this particular item for you and your current recovery stage?
Ask what to do if the garment feels wrong rather than tightening it or adding compression yourself. The Florida Plastic Surgery instructions specifically advise contacting the surgeon if a garment digs in, creates creases, or chafes.

Does a binder, board, or garment guarantee better results?
No. The available evidence does not establish that a particular item prevents seroma, guarantees smooth contouring, or speeds healing for every person after lipo 360. A 2024 systematic review examined compression garments after abdominoplasty, not lipo 360, so its findings should not be treated as a lipo-360-specific result. A 2023 practical review considered postoperative compression across plastic surgery and describes evidence that is not uniform. - Which garment or accessory do you recommend for the areas you treated?
- Is an abdominal binder suitable for my procedure, or should I use a different garment?
- Do you want me to use foam or a board? If so, where and at what point in recovery?
- How should the garment fit, and whom should I contact if it digs in, creases, or chafes?
- How long should I wear it, and when—if ever—should I change garments?
- Should I remove it for washing, dressing changes, or movement, and what instructions apply?
If you are comparing products, “post-surgical compression garment” is a useful category to discuss with the surgeon. Do not assume a consumer listing is suitable based on its label alone; have the care team confirm its design, sizing, and intended use.
