The SitePoint example uses four fields—id, name, price, and tags—with the first three required, a nonnegative price, and tags stored as strings. Here is a valid JSON example and what its structure does and does not establish.
A sample products JSON file
Save this as products.json:
{
"products": [
{
"id": 101,
"name": "Wireless Keyboard",
"price": 49.99,
"tags": ["computer", "wireless"]
},
{
"id": 102,
"name": "USB-C Hub",
"price": 29.5,
"tags": ["accessory", "usb-c"]
}
]
}
This example places records in a products array so an application can process multiple products. Each record has a numeric ID, a string name, a numeric price, and an array of string tags. The wrapper property is one practical way to organize the file; it is not identified as a required part of the SitePoint example’s field schema.
What the example fields mean
id: a number that identifies the product in this example; marked required by the source.name: a string containing the product name; marked required.price: a number; marked required, with a minimum value of zero in the displayed schema.tags: an array of strings for labels such as category or keywords.
These are illustrative data-shape rules, not a complete commerce model. The tutorial does not specify a JSON Schema dialect, establish standards compliance, or define production requirements such as currency, inventory, tax, or unique-ID enforcement. In particular, a numeric price alone does not say which currency it represents.
How to create and validate the file
- Create a plain-text file named
products.jsonin your project. - Enter valid JSON using double quotes around property names and string values. Separate properties with commas, but do not add a comma after the final property or array item.
- Represent multiple product records as objects inside an array, as in the example above.
- Check that each record follows the field rules your application expects: numeric
id, stringname, nonnegative numericprice, and an array of stringtags. - Parse the file in the application and handle malformed JSON or missing data rather than assuming every file is valid.
The cited tutorial provides a schema-like illustration but does not name a validator or prescribe a particular validation workflow.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
How to read the file in an application
To use the records, an application reads the text and parses it as JSON, then accesses the array and its fields. SitePoint describes parsing JSON with languages including JavaScript, Python, and PHP, and displaying the resulting data in a web application. Those are general examples from the tutorial, not language-specific implementation instructions or a tested integration.
For example, the structure above lets application code iterate over products, display each name and price, or use tags to label a record. The exact file-loading method depends on where the file is stored and how the application is built.

Additional fields shown in the tutorial’s FAQ
SitePoint’s FAQ also gives explanatory product-object examples with an ID, name, description, price, and SKU, and notes that multiple records can be arranged in an array. These are separate illustrative examples, not fields in the page’s initial schema-like example. Add fields such as description or sku only when your application needs them and define their expected types consistently.
What this JSON file is—and is not
JSON is a text representation suitable for sharing structured product information or configuration data between application components. The SitePoint page also mentions conversion to XML or CSV. It does not provide evidence for performance or security comparisons, establish that a flat file is appropriate at a particular scale, or show a complete production database design. Treat the sample as a starting structure for records, not as a substitute for deciding how your application stores, validates, and manages product data.
