Tournament-legal controller or fight stick
Bring the device you already know how to use and confirm the game-specific rules before traveling. Published event materials report all eight tournaments on PlayStation 5, with The King of Fighters XV using the PlayStation 4 version on PS5 in three-character teams. Because game pages and restrictions can change, open the live rules page for your title before packing. For example, reported restrictions for Street Fighter 6 include Dynamic controls and the Training Room stage; verify those details in the current ruleset.
A standard PlayStation DualSense or DualSense Edge is explicitly legal on PS5. A licensed PS5 arcade stick is also appropriate when it complies with the input rules. Leverless devices are permitted when their SOCD cleaning and button mapping follow Evo’s “one mechanism, one game input” requirement; a device is not legal merely because it is expensive or marketed for tournaments.
Wired connection and spare cable
Default Evo practice is wired operation. Pack a USB data cable that you have already used successfully with the controller, plus a tested spare if the cable detaches. A charge-only cable can power a device while failing to transmit inputs.

The DualSense and DualSense Edge are the PS5 wireless exception, but using them wirelessly is still a poor tournament-day choice because the player remains responsible for controller functionality. A pad with its batteries removed and USB power connected, or a controller communicating through a USB dongle, is treated as wired. Do not arrive expecting live Bluetooth play.
Converter rules
Use a converter only when your device needs one to communicate with the tournament console. Brook converters are allowed under Evo’s general rules. Cronus Max Plus and Titan One are banned, so leave them at home. Test the complete chain—controller, converter, cable, and PS5—before departure rather than discovering a compatibility problem at check-in.
Backup input
A second legal pad can save a tournament run if a stick or cable fails. It should be familiar, not a brand-new controller bought on the way to São Paulo. Evo’s malfunction procedure can impose a round or game loss after a pause; a replacement is useful only if you can produce it quickly and it is legal.

What ticket and registration documents do I need?
Competing requires three separate things: the event ticket, a per-game fee, and a completed competitive registration. A pass by itself does not place you in a bracket.

Competitors need the 3-day Competitor Pass, valid Friday through Sunday, purchased through Pixta at pixta.me/maru-division/evo-brazil-2027. Add R$50 per game and complete the corresponding start.gg registration. Entering Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8, for example, means two game entries totaling R$100 in addition to the pass.
The organizer has not published an official competitive-registration closing date. A representative told Teoria Geek that entries usually close about four weeks before the event, so do not wait for the venue weekend. Save the confirmation email and a screenshot of the start.gg page showing your player name and games; keep the screenshot available offline.

These are the official Evo Brazil figures checked October 2026. Solidarity tickets require a donation of 1 kg of non-perishable food, excluding salt and sugar. Half-price buyers should carry the Brazilian statutory documents proving meia-entrada eligibility. Limited box-office stock may exist, but it is not a safe plan.

Under-18 competitors have an additional championship-specific authorization. A parent or legal guardian must sign it, with cartório recognition or a gov.br electronic signature, and present it at the Evo Command Center in the Green Pavilion. This is separate from the authorization for unaccompanied venue entry. Mortal Kombat 1 is age-rated 18 in Brazil; family authorization does not automatically make a minor eligible for that tournament.
What should spectators pack instead?
Spectators can omit the fight stick, cable, converter, and game-entry confirmation. Pack the ticket for each day, official ID, a phone with the confirmation saved offline, a power bank, rain protection, and comfortable closed shoes. If you bought a solidarity ticket, bring the required 1 kg of sealed non-perishable food; if you have a half-price ticket, bring the eligibility documents.
Re-entry is not automatic. Check the current event policy before leaving the pavilion, especially if you plan to return after going back to a hotel. Carry payment cards or cash for the food court, Artist Alley, and official store; unauthorized selling inside the event is prohibited.
What should I wear in São Paulo in March?
Late March is still warm, humid, and rainy rather than a cool, dry autumn. The 1991–2020 INMET normal for the Mirante de Santana station is a 28°C maximum, an 18.9°C minimum, and 229.1 mm of March rain. A secondary 1991–2020 compilation gives a 28°C maximum, 19.4°C minimum, 160 mm of rain over 13 days, and 75% humidity; the rainfall totals conflict, so the official INMET station normal is the safer planning figure.
- Wear breathable T-shirts or quick-dry tops for queues and walks.
- Pack a compact umbrella or light waterproof jacket. A waterproof pouch or bag liner protects your phone, documents, and controller during a sudden storm.
- Use comfortable closed shoes with grip. Expo floors are hard, and wet sidewalks can become slippery.
- Bring a light hoodie or jacket for strong indoor air conditioning.
- Pack sunscreen if you will queue outside; São Paulo’s summer UV index can reach 11 or higher.
- Skip a heavy winter coat. It is unnecessary for the expected March temperatures.
Afternoon storms can flood streets and increase ride-hailing delays. The Metro is generally the more dependable wet-weather option, but leave time for walking and station transfers.
How do I protect a fight stick at the venue?
Maru Division and Evo do not provide individual insurance, maintenance, or surveillance for unattended personal equipment. The owner is responsible for transporting, assembling, guarding, and retrieving consoles, sticks, monitors, cables, and adapters.

What can security stop at Expo Center Norte?
Expect bag inspection. Leave the following at your hotel or home:
- Firearms, ammunition, explosives, fireworks, knives, box cutters, pointed scissors, metal swords, and other cutting or piercing objects.
- Realistic weapon replicas, airsoft equipment, rigid simulacra, and dangerous cosplay mechanisms. Harmless props may be admitted only at security’s discretion, and there is no guaranteed cloakroom for refused items.
- Outside alcohol, glass bottles, risky containers, illicit drugs, laser pointers, water guns, hazardous aerosols, heavy metal accessories, and dangerous chains.
- Drones, recreational bicycles, skates, scooters, and hoverboards. Mobility aids for people with disabilities are exempt.
- Animals other than legally protected assistance animals.
The default food rule allows only industrially packaged food and drinks in their original sealed packaging, subject to inspection. Exceptions cover infant feeding, medical needs, health conditions, and accessibility requirements. Indoor smoking is prohibited; vaping is governed by Brazilian law and event rules.
Do I need a console for the BYOC area?
No, not for official pools. The event’s BYOC community area is separate from official tournament stations and refers to Bring Your Own Console community play. After security inspection, participants may be allowed to bring consoles, controllers, game media, cables, and accessories, but permission to carry an item inside does not guarantee access to organizer power, network, tables, monitors, or technical support.
If you are organizing or joining a community bracket, bring the console, an approved surge-safe power setup, and your own monitor if the area requires one. Stay with the hardware. Community mini-tournaments are not official Evo competitions, offer no official ranking or prize, may not charge entry fees, and cannot use the Evo brand commercially without authorization.

The event site does not publish a street number for the pavilion. Navigate to “Expo Center Norte, Pavilhão Verde, São Paulo” and follow venue signage rather than relying on an unofficial address. If you walk from a hotel during a storm, keep the phone and controller in waterproof protection.
How should I prepare the controller before match day?
- Connect the exact controller-and-cable combination to a PS5 and confirm every button, direction, and menu input.
- If using a converter, update or configure it before traveling and test it on the target console.
- Pack the spare cable and backup pad in the same carry-on, not in checked luggage.
- At the station, plug in before the button check and remove batteries from wireless pads when the rules require wired operation.
