What are Eternatus’s stats and battle identity?

A Best Buddy can reach 5,067 CP according to RotomLabs’ current figure, but the buddy boost does not change the underlying investment decision. It is a small CP increase on top of a very large level-50 resource requirement.

Poison Jab + Dynamax Cannon for general damage
Poison Jab gives Eternatus its Poison-role fast move, while Dynamax Cannon supplies the signature charged attack. This is the recommended all-purpose raid combination when you want one Eternatus to contribute strong damage without committing exclusively to a Dragon roster. Choose Dragon Tail with Dynamax Cannon when Eternatus is being built specifically as a Dragon attacker. Poison Jab changes the matchup profile rather than simply making Eternatus better or worse. It improves some Fairy-oriented matchups but gives up several wins against Steel, Ground, Dragon, and other bulky targets. Choose the fast move according to the opponents you expect to face, the coverage your teammates provide, and whether you are building for raids as well as PvP.
Master League also magnifies the cost of an incomplete build. A level-40 Eternatus may be useful in some limited contexts, but the league’s level and XL expectations mean you should plan the entire project before spending. Those event details make timing relevant: a player planning to invest should consider whether the event can supply resources before buying Candy with rare items or committing to level 50.

Do not treat level 50 as a trophy requirement. The right stopping point is the highest level needed for the battles you actually enter. A raid-only player may value a strong attack breakpoint without needing a full Master League XL build. Without the signature move, Eternatus loses the move that anchors its strongest cited raid combinations, its recommended Master League set, and its Adventure Effect. Your XL budget is already committed
The cited level-50 estimate uses 8,900 Candy XL in addition to 520,000 Stardust and 9,980 ordinary Candy. If those resources would displace a Pokémon you use every week, Eternatus should remain a future project. Rarity is not a substitute for a battle role.
You cannot name the battles it will enter
A high Attack stat is valuable only when converted into damage, matchup wins, or Max Battle utility. If you are not planning raids, Master League, or Max Battles where Eternatus’s moves matter, keep the resources for a defined target rather than powering it up on speculation.

Why does Eternatus have neutral damage from Fairy attacks instead of resisting them?
Poison normally resists Fairy, while Dragon is weak to Fairy. Eternatus has both types, so the resistance and weakness cancel to neutral damage. This makes Fairy matchups more important than a pure-Poison reading of its typing would suggest.
Can a Best Buddy Eternatus exceed the normal level-50 CP?
