What is EpiLert?
The Epilepsy Foundation’s device-pipeline listing identifies “EpiLert Seizure Alert Device” as a wearable and associates it with Biolert LTD. The listing was updated October 4, 2021. That establishes how the device was described in that historical listing; it does not confirm that EpiLert is currently sold or establish its design, how it detects events, who receives alerts, or which seizures it is intended to detect.
A focused search of EpiLert’s official domain, epilert.io, did not surface current product details. As a result, there is not enough verified information to describe EpiLert’s present-day features or recommend it as a specific device.
Does an epilepsy bracelet detect seizures or notify someone?
Some wearable seizure-detection devices are intended to detect particular seizure types and send alerts, but that general category description cannot verify what EpiLert does. No current EpiLert documentation establishes its detection method, alert timing, recipient, connectivity, or accuracy. Do not assume that a bracelet detects every seizure or guarantees that someone will respond.

The ILAE/IFCN clinical practice guideline supports clinically validated devices as an adjunct for selected patients when detection of generalized tonic-clonic seizures (GTCS) or focal-to-bilateral tonic-clonic seizures (FBTCS) is indicated. It reports uncertainty about whether alerts lead to meaningful clinical outcomes and does not recommend current devices for other seizure types in clinical use. How EpiLert differs from Epitel’s REMI
EpiLert and Epitel are different names and products. Epitel describes REMI as a wearable, wireless EEG monitoring platform. Its Vigilenz software marks previously recorded EEG sections for physician review; Epitel says it does not mark records in real time or provide a diagnosis. Those descriptions concern Epitel’s products, not EpiLert. Epitel’s REMI product information also says REMI received FDA clearance in 2021.

Epitel reports that REMI Vigilenz validation involved 50 patient records, more than 2,600 hours of recorded EEG, and 87 known electrographic seizures, referring to its January 2024 Instructions for Use. These are vendor-described REMI figures, not EpiLert evidence and not a measure of EpiLert’s performance.
Check product identity and evidence before choosing a device
A similarly named product or a general FDA listing is not proof of EpiLert’s regulatory status. The FDA record surfaced for this topic is for EpiMonitor by Empatica, not EpiLert; it gives a substantially equivalent decision date of February 15, 2024. That status must not be attributed to EpiLert. The FDA 510(k) database can be used to check a product’s identity and record.

If you are evaluating a seizure-detection device, look for documentation that answers these questions for the exact model and market:
- Which seizure types have been clinically validated for detection?
- Whether alerts are real-time, who receives them, and what happens if an alert is missed or not acknowledged.
- Independent evidence about missed events and false alarms, rather than only promotional claims.
- How the device connects, where it is worn, and whether its comfort, age range, and availability fit the intended user.
- Its regulatory status and whether the supporting evidence is independent clinical research or a vendor statement.
For EpiLert, the available sources do not provide enough current information to answer these questions. A clinician can help determine whether a clinically validated detector is appropriate for a particular person and seizure type.

Is a medical ID bracelet an alternative?
A medical ID bracelet for epilepsy can communicate emergency information, such as a diagnosis or contact details, but it is identification jewelry—not an automatic seizure detector and it does not send an alert when a seizure occurs. It may be useful for a different purpose than a wearable detector. Search for “medical ID bracelet for epilepsy” if the goal is to make key information visible to people providing assistance.
