For Enshrouded 1.0 on PC, start with the game’s automatically selected graphics preset, then adjust settings against scenes you actually play: an open vista, a Shroud-covered area, a fight, and—if you have one—a large, brightly lit base. There is no verified universal “best” preset or official per-setting FPS benchmark. The detailed settings mix below is a community-published starting point, not a measured result; change one control at a time and judge smoothness, clarity, and control together. This guidance reflects the October 15, 2026 full release and the October 21 AMD V-Sync hotfix, rather than unchanged early-access advice.
At a glance
This is a first-pass configuration to compare with your own preset, not a guaranteed performance profile. The proposed values come from one community settings list; confirm the available options and wording in your current game menu. “Checked” refers to the version context of this guide, not a claim that each setting was benchmarked.

How should I tune Enshrouded for smoother exploration and combat?
Use a repeatable A/B comparison: establish a baseline, inspect the same kinds of scenes, and change just one option before deciding whether to keep it. That helps separate an actual improvement from the natural differences between a quiet clearing, a foggy Shroud, and a crowded fight.

Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Start with the current preset. Let the game select its updated graphics preset, then note the resolution and visible options. Keep the monitor’s intended display resolution for the initial comparison so you can assess a setting change without simultaneously changing the whole image.
- Choose a repeatable route or location. Compare an open view with distant terrain, a Shroud or fog-heavy area, and an encounter with enemies. If a large, light-filled base is part of your play, include it; the number of lights and enclosed surfaces can make it behave differently from a wilderness scene.
- Record what is bothering you. Is the issue irregular motion, delayed-feeling control, visual blur, distracting flicker, or poor target selection? Those are not interchangeable problems, and a graphics reduction will not necessarily fix a control or network issue.
- Try the suggested mix as a starting hypothesis. On supported NVIDIA hardware, compare DLSS Quality if that option is available. Apply the other candidate values in the table one at a time rather than treating the entire mix as a proven preset.
- Repeat the same scene after each change. Keep a change if it improves the problem you care about without making the image or combat harder to read. If it does not help, restore the previous value before trying something else.
- Only then consider a more substantial reduction. If the actual scene still misses your smoothness goal, lower one demanding-looking option at a time, or compare an upscaling or render-scale option if your current menu offers one. Recheck distant scenery and fog as well as motion.
In other words, “smoother” should mean a more consistent experience in the scenes that matter to you, not a number inferred from someone else’s hardware. The selected sources establish no official numeric FPS improvement or controlled per-setting result.
Which graphics settings matter most in different scenes?
The value of a setting depends on what the scene asks the renderer to show. Use the scene—not a blanket rule from an older build—to decide what to adjust first.
Open vistas and distant terrain
Keep distant-detail options at the suggested Quality level initially, especially if exploration depends on seeing terrain and buildings clearly. The 1.0 release added brick rendering for more detailed distant terrain and buildings, alongside lighting and atmosphere changes. Reducing distant details may make the view less useful or attractive, and the evidence here does not show that turning them down delivers a particular FPS gain.
Watch for distant shadow flicker if you compare Performance graphics settings. Keen Games says some distant shadow flickering may remain at those settings, so a flickering view is not necessarily evidence that a higher detail setting is malfunctioning. The studio’s 1.0 notes describe the rendering changes in its release changelog.
Shroud, fog, and changing biomes
Compare Fog at Balanced as a starting point, then inspect whether you can still read the scene comfortably. Fog is part of the game’s atmosphere, not just an isolated performance control: the 1.0 update introduced biome-specific atmosphere and height fog. A setting that looks acceptable in a clear area may affect visibility or mood differently inside the Shroud.
If the image seems too soft or unclear, do not assume the cause is fog alone. Check the overall resolution and any active upscaling option, then change one control and compare the same view. The available evidence does not establish a universal balance that preserves identical visibility across every biome.

Large bases and point lights
Use a large, lit base as its own comparison scene if you spend time building. An old rule to minimize Point Light Shadows may now sacrifice visual quality unnecessarily: Keen Games says the 1.0 rework drastically reduced their performance impact, especially in bases with many lights. The community candidate is Ultra Quality, but that recommendation has not been measured across hardware; lower it only if your own repeatable comparison shows a worthwhile improvement.
This is a notable reason not to carry early-access advice forward unchanged. A setting’s visual and performance trade-off can shift when the game’s rendering changes.
Water, foliage, and ambient detail
For the community starting mix, try Water Quality and keep Small Foliage at Balanced. Indirect Lighting, SSAO, and Reflections are also proposed at Balanced, while Contact Shadows are proposed On. Treat these as individual candidates: if water, vegetation, or near-object shading is not part of the problem, there is no reason to lower it preemptively.
Should I use DLSS or lower the resolution?
On a supported NVIDIA setup, DLSS Quality is the supplied community list’s image-quality-first upscaling suggestion. It is not a universal option: do not look for DLSS as an AMD or Intel setting, and do not assume every PC build exposes the same upscaler or render-scale controls.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Begin by retaining the monitor’s intended resolution. If the game still falls short in a repeatable scene, check the current menu for an available upscaling or render-scale option and compare its effect. Upscaling can change the balance between rendered detail and smoothness, so inspect fine scenery and combat readability—not just motion—before keeping it. The material available for this guide does not establish a specific FPS uplift, a frame-generation setting, or exact menu paths for these options.
Can combat feel smoother without increasing FPS?
Yes. Target selection, aim assistance, and camera behavior affect how controllable a fight feels, even though they do not increase the number of frames rendered. Version 1.0 added separate automatic target-selection behavior for melee and ranged combat, plus additional controller and wand options.

Automatic target selection
Review the separate melee and ranged automatic target-selection behaviors if attacks keep favoring the wrong enemy. Because they are distinct, adjusting one does not necessarily change the other. Choose based on how you want the game to select a target, rather than expecting a graphics change to correct the behavior.
Controller aim assistance
Controller users can configure aim snap assist and stick aim assist. These can affect how aiming feels and how readily it tracks or settles on a target. If combat feels imprecise, compare the relevant control settings before reducing visual quality; their purpose is control behavior, not rendering performance.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesWand free aim
Wand users can select a free-aiming mode under Gameplay > Combat, according to Keen Games’ 1.0 notes. This is useful to know if the default aiming behavior does not match how you want to place attacks; it is separate from frame pacing.
Camera comfort
The accessibility settings include an option to reduce camera inertia. Keen Games says it may help with motion sickness. A camera that feels more comfortable can make exploration and combat easier to follow, but this is a comfort adjustment rather than a graphics-performance fix. The developer describes these additions in the 1.0 release changelog.
Does V-Sync cause stuttering in Enshrouded?
Not universally. Compare V-Sync enabled and disabled on your own setup if motion feels uneven, but do not assume turning it off is the right answer for every PC. Keen Games’ October 21, 2026 hotfix 1.0.0.3 specifically says it improved stuttering with V-Sync enabled on AMD graphics cards.
Some players around launch reported better results with V-Sync off, while other reports described quite different overall performance. Those are anecdotes, not controlled comparisons, and they predate or may not reflect the AMD-specific hotfix. For the official update detail, see the 1.0.0.3 hotfix changelog.

- Compare V-Sync on and off in that same scene, then repeat the comparison in a different type of area if you regularly play there.
- Keep whichever state provides the better experience on your system; if neither changes the symptom, look beyond V-Sync rather than repeatedly switching unrelated graphics controls.
Why can the game stutter after an update?
Shader compilation can make startup or the first moments after an update feel rough, and that does not by itself establish sustained poor performance during play. Keen Games says 1.0 made shader compilation after a game or graphics-driver update faster, but not removable: “A small amount of compilation time is unavoidable, however.”
Allow compilation to complete before judging the game’s ongoing frame pacing. If uneven motion persists after that, return to a consistent scene and assess V-Sync and individual graphics controls separately. The developer’s statement appears in its 1.0 release notes.

The Steam listing gives the following minimum and recommended PC requirements. These are published requirements, not benchmark results; they do not promise a particular FPS or quantify the benefit of replacing a component.

| Requirement tier | Graphics examples | Memory | Storage | Additional note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum | GTX 1060 or RX 580, each specified with 6 GB VRAM; Intel Arc A380 | 16 GB RAM | 60 GB available | 6 GB VRAM annotation applies to the named GTX 1060 and RX 580 examples, not every listed card |
| Recommended | RTX 2070 Super, RX 6700 XT, or Arc A770 | 16 GB RAM | 60 GB available | SSD advised |
Requirements are from Keen Games GmbH’s Steam listing (checked for the October 2026 1.0 context). Meeting the listed minimum is not proof that every area will feel equally smooth, and the listed cards should not be read as a current buying recommendation.
When is an SSD or RAM upgrade relevant?
If the game is installed on a drive that does not meet the recommended SSD advice, a compatible internal SSD may be a sensible storage upgrade for the system, but the listing does not promise that one will raise in-game FPS. Check motherboard or system compatibility, physical form factor, interface support, and available installation space before buying; the requirements page does not specify a particular SSD model or interface.
The listing specifies 16 GB RAM for both tiers. If your PC has less than that, addressing the requirement may be appropriate, but no specific FPS improvement is established. A RAM kit must match the motherboard and system’s supported type and configuration; compatibility matters more than choosing a kit based only on capacity.

Is Steam Deck Verified a frame-rate guarantee?
No. Keen Games announced that Enshrouded 1.0 was Steam Deck Verified on October 23, 2026, but that status does not establish a stable frame-rate target for every area or setting. It is a compatibility designation, not a published FPS benchmark. The announcement is available from Keen Games.

Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →How do I tell a graphics problem from a network or streaming problem?
Start by identifying how you play. Cloud streaming and online/server conditions are different from local rendering: a graphics setting on your PC will not fix every delay caused by a streamed connection or network path. Keen Games’ FAQ lists GeForce NOW availability and names GPortal as a server-rental partner, but neither fact establishes that cloud play or renting a server will raise a client PC’s local FPS.
If motion or input feels wrong only while streaming or playing online, compare with a local, repeatable scene where possible before lowering graphics settings. Keep the diagnosis specific: local visual rendering, cloud-stream delivery, and co-op network behavior are separate sources of symptoms. Availability may vary by region and service, so consult the official FAQ for the game’s current service information.
How we picked these starting points
The settings guidance prioritizes the distinctions established for the October 2026 1.0 release: scene-dependent rendering, the visual role of distant detail and fog, the changed cost of point-light shadows, frame pacing on AMD systems after the V-Sync hotfix, and combat controls that are independent of FPS. The detailed quality mix is included because it gives readers a concrete A/B baseline, but it remains one community user’s proposal—not a controlled benchmark, an official preset, or a ranking of guaranteed performance.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Enshrouded 1.0 support HDR?
Keen Games says the 1.0 release added HDR calibration for compatible displays. That confirms HDR calibration was introduced, but does not mean every monitor supports HDR or establish a particular HDR menu path.
Recommended Free Tools
Will renting a co-op server increase my FPS?
No FPS increase is established by the game’s server-rental information. A hosted server concerns multiplayer hosting; local rendering performance is still a separate issue.
Can early-access performance advice still apply to the 1.0 release?
Some basic troubleshooting may still be useful, but recommendations tied to rendering cost need rechecking because 1.0 changed lighting, fog, and distant-world rendering. In particular, Keen Games says point-light shadows became much less costly in the update.
