Yes—vMix can send video to a YouTube live event you scheduled in YouTube Studio. But no, vMix does not provide time-of-day scheduling for a full 24/7 programming lineup. For a scheduled event, you start the stream from vMix and then select Go Live in YouTube Studio when its preview is ready. For continuous playback without fixed program start times, vMix PlayList or List can loop videos.
What “scheduled live stream” means in this workflow
A scheduled YouTube event and an automated 24/7 channel schedule are different things. YouTube Studio lets you schedule a live event for a future time; vMix can send its output to that event. That does not make vMix a time-of-day scheduler that automatically starts different programs at set times.
vMix’s knowledge-base article, “Does vMix support scheduling?” (updated January 17, 2025), says: “vMix is primarily designed for live streaming single events and as such does not support time of day scheduling.”
How to send vMix to a scheduled YouTube event
- Create and schedule the event in YouTube Studio. Set up the live stream and choose the option to schedule it for a future time.
- Copy the event’s stream key into vMix. In vMix, select the YouTube Live destination and enter the key associated with the scheduled event. Keep the key private.
- Start streaming from vMix. This sends vMix’s output to YouTube; it does not by itself publish the event to viewers.
- Check the preview in YouTube Studio, then select Go Live. The documented workflow includes this Studio action to begin the public event. vMix says you can start sending the stream before the scheduled time.
See vMix’s YouTube Live instructions for the stream-key process. The guide was updated April 9, 2025. YouTube’s interface and account requirements can change, so confirm the current controls in Studio.

Can vMix keep a video playing continuously?
For a simple loop that does not need programs to begin at specific clock times, vMix’s PlayList and List features can provide continuous playout. vMix describes these as ways to play inputs or a list of videos sequentially and loop them—not as a time-based programming scheduler.
PlayList
The vMix User Guide describes PlayList controls for looping and for configuring individual items, including starting position, duration, transition, and transition duration. It can automate switching tasks or play videos sequentially. See the vMix PlayList guide.

List
vMix’s scheduling guidance also points to List for playing a video list as a single input, with loop and randomize behavior. It notes that List avoids loading every video at once, which can use system resources. Neither List nor PlayList supplies fixed start times for a channel lineup.
Which setup fits your 24/7 plan?
| What you need | What the documented workflow supports |
|---|---|
| Stream vMix output to one future YouTube event | Schedule the event in YouTube Studio, configure vMix with its stream key, start streaming from vMix, then select Go Live in Studio when the preview is ready. |
| Keep videos looping without exact program start times | Use vMix PlayList or List for sequential playback and looping. |
| Automatically start specific programs at specified times across a 24/7 lineup | vMix says it does not provide time-of-day scheduling for this. |
These are distinct capabilities: an event scheduled in YouTube Studio is not the same as an automated, channel-wide programming schedule.

What about vMix Scheduler?
vMix’s scheduling article mentions an open-source third-party project called vMix Scheduler, but says it is no longer maintained, may not work with current vMix versions, and is not supported by vMix. Treat it as an unverified option rather than a dependable current solution unless you independently confirm compatibility with your setup.
