Does the HONOR Magic9 have Google apps?
Google apps are not confirmed for the standard China-market Magic9 in the official information reviewed. HONOR’s instructions for enabling Google Play services apply to MagicOS 10, while its China store lists the Magic9 as running MagicOS 11, so the guide cannot be used as confirmation for this phone.
What HONOR’s MagicOS 10 guide says
HONOR’s China support article describes a setup for some MagicOS 10 devices: open Settings > Users and accounts, turn on the Google Play services switch, and use an overseas network. It also says Google apps can be downloaded through the App Market after enabling the service. HONOR warns that enabling Google Play services may increase power use.
This is useful context if you are familiar with HONOR phones sold for the China market, but it is not a Magic9-specific procedure. The guide does not say that the same switch, menu, or behavior exists in MagicOS 11 on model MLY-AN00. Do not assume that following the MagicOS 10 steps will add Google Play to the Magic9.

What to verify before buying or setting up the phone
- Ask the seller whether the exact phone includes Google Play services and the Google Play Store, rather than asking only whether it runs Android.
- Confirm that the seller is referring to the standard Magic9, model MLY-AN00, and identify the sales region. A different model number or regional edition may have different software.
- If you already own the phone, check its software version and the available account or service settings. A menu documented for MagicOS 10 may not appear on MagicOS 11.
- Ask whether the phone has Google services installed and working before purchase if access to a specific app matters. The reviewed official material does not establish that for this model.

Does the HONOR Magic9 get Android updates?
HONOR has announced a seven-year Android OS and security update commitment for its flagship Magic series, starting in EU markets. The announcement, made on March 3, 2025, is evidence of a regional commitment; it does not establish that the China-market standard Magic9 receives seven years of updates.
Why the seven-year announcement needs a regional qualification
The phrase “starting in EU markets” matters. It identifies where HONOR said the commitment would begin, not a guarantee for every device sold worldwide. A phone’s update policy can depend on its market and exact model, so applying the EU announcement to the China-market MLY-AN00 would go beyond what the announcement establishes.
HONOR’s MagicOS 11 materials say the Magic9 series launched with MagicOS 11. HONOR also publishes a China mainland upgrade plan, which cautions that timing and features vary by model. The reviewed material does not give the standard China-market Magic9 a specific support duration. A software launch version and an upgrade schedule do not, on their own, state how many years of operating-system or security updates a particular phone will receive.

- Find the full model number in the phone’s settings, on its box, or in the seller’s listing. For the China-store standard Magic9, the listed model is MLY-AN00.
- Identify the market where that particular phone was sold. Do not rely on an EU support announcement for a China-market device unless HONOR confirms it applies.
- Ask HONOR support or the seller for the promised end date or duration for both Android OS upgrades and security updates. These are related but distinct parts of a support policy.
- Check the relevant regional HONOR support or upgrade information for the exact model. If it gives only a rollout schedule, treat that as timing information rather than a promise of total support duration.
Before buying, a written model- and region-specific answer is more useful than a general claim that the Magic series receives long-term support. If the seller cannot provide one, the update duration for that unit remains unconfirmed by the reviewed official sources.

Does the HONOR Magic9 support eSIM?
HONOR’s current Global eSIM compatibility list does not name the standard Magic9. On the reviewed evidence, it is not safe to claim that the China-market MLY-AN00 has built-in eSIM support. HONOR also says compatibility can depend on the phone’s country of origin and the carrier.
HONOR’s eSIM page says: “Depending on the country of origin, eSIM may not be supported even if your device is listed above.” That qualification means a model name alone may not settle whether eSIM will work for a particular buyer. The phone’s regional variant and the carrier’s support both matter.
Check the phone and the carrier separately
- Phone: Ask HONOR or the seller to confirm eSIM support for the exact model number and sales region, not just for the Magic9 family.
- Carrier: Confirm that your carrier supports eSIM activation for that device and in your country. A carrier’s general eSIM service does not prove compatibility with every phone.
- Evidence: Look for the exact model on HONOR’s compatibility information and request confirmation if it is absent. Do not infer support from another Magic device.
A separate HONOR product page for the Magic9 Super Power Edition specifies two nano-SIM slots. That is a different product record and does not establish the standard Magic9’s SIM configuration. The standard China-store listing identifies MLY-AN00, but the reviewed material does not settle its eSIM support or SIM arrangement.
How can you avoid mixing up Magic9 variants?
Use the full model number and sales region as the starting point for every compatibility check. “Magic9” is not precise enough when official material describes a China-market standard model, a series-level update announcement, or a separate special edition.

For a purchase or a phone you already own, compare the information in these four ways:
- Identity: Does the seller or device show MLY-AN00, or a different model number?
- Software: Is the device running the software version named in the relevant instructions? HONOR’s Google Play setup article covers MagicOS 10; the standard Magic9 listing names MagicOS 11.
- Updates: Does HONOR’s commitment explicitly cover that sales region and model, and does it specify both OS and security support?
- eSIM: Is the exact phone variant confirmed by HONOR and supported by your carrier?
Do not carry specifications from the Super Power Edition over to the standard model, or treat a statement about the Magic series as a model-specific guarantee. If two product pages refer to different editions, compare them as separate devices.

Is Android 17 the same thing as Google Play support on the Magic9?
