YMTC NAND is definitively used in YMTC’s own ZHITAI SSDs and has also been documented in selected drives from Acer Predator, Hiksemi/HikVision, Lexar, TeamGroup, and Yottamaster. The qualification matters: third-party manufacturers can change NAND by capacity, production batch, or hardware revision. Treat the list below as model- or sample-level evidence, not a promise that every drive sold under a model name contains YMTC flash. The clearest native example is the ZHITAI TiPro9000; independent teardowns and reviews document YMTC in the other examples.
There is no authoritative, current inventory audit covering every US SKU, and no reliable global percentage for SSDs using YMTC. The practical approach is to identify the exact capacity and revision, then rely on an official specification, teardown, or review of that specific unit.

Which SSD brands and models have documented YMTC NAND?
Six model families have the strongest published evidence, but the evidence type differs. ZHITAI is backed by YMTC’s own product information; the other examples come from teardowns or independent reviews of particular capacities and samples.

ZHITAI is YMTC’s consumer-storage brand, making the TiPro9000 the least ambiguous example. YMTC’s product material identifies YMTC Xtacking 4.0 3D NAND flash architecture in the drive. That is a manufacturer-level statement rather than an inference from a controller or marketplace listing.

Hiksemi/HikVision CC700 HS-SSD-CC700 2TB: teardown-confirmed TLC
TechInsights’ teardown of the 2TB CC700 found a YMTC Xtacking 3.0 232-layer 1Tb TLC die, identified as EET1A. This is high-confidence physical evidence for that tested 2TB drive.
The finding does not establish that every CC700 capacity, later production batch, or other Hiksemi model uses the same flash. Treat the 2TB teardown as a reference point and check the revision of the unit you are buying.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsAcer Predator GM7: YMTC, with layer-count variation
Tom’s Hardware identified YMTC TLC in its Predator GM7 sample and described the flash as Biwin-binned and packaged YMTC TLC. Its reviewed 1TB specification listed sequential performance of 7,400 MB/s read and 6,300 MB/s write. The same review’s 2TB specification carried a 1,300 TBW endurance rating.
GM7 evidence is also a warning about revisions: another review examined a 232-layer sample, while the Tom’s Hardware sample used a revised 128-layer design. The model name therefore does not uniquely identify one NAND generation. Capacity, production date, and package markings can all matter.

Lexar NM790: credible review evidence, but not an official guarantee
Tom’s Hardware reported that Lexar had shifted toward YMTC flash and that its NM790 sample appeared to use 232-layer TLC. The evidence is credible at the sample level, yet the review explicitly cautioned that flash type could vary and Lexar did not officially confirm the newer NAND in that report.
For an NM790 purchase, record the exact capacity and hardware revision shown on the label or box. A review of one capacity should not be read as proof that every NM790 sold later or in another capacity has identical NAND.
TeamGroup MP44Q 2TB: documented 232-layer QLC
PC Gamer’s specification table for its 2TB MP44Q sample lists “YMTC 232-layer 3D QLC NAND.” This is high-confidence evidence for that reviewed drive, and it is important to distinguish QLC from the TLC examples in the list.
The same review lists 7,000 MB/s sustained read, 5,900 MB/s sustained write, and 1,000 TBW for the 2TB model. Those figures belong to the reviewed configuration; they should not be transferred automatically to another capacity or revision.
Yottamaster T7400 TitansFlow: 232-layer TLC in a reviewed model
The SSD Review identified YMTC 232-layer 3D TLC NAND in its T7400 TitansFlow sample. The review describes a family spanning 512GB, 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB, and lists 7,400 MB/s read and 6,500 MB/s write specifications.

Because the identification is review-based rather than a universal bill of materials, confirm the exact capacity and return terms with the seller. Current retail consistency should not be assumed solely from the T7400 name.
How certain is each YMTC identification?
Evidence quality ranges from an official product statement to a physical teardown to a review of one retail sample. That distinction tells you how broadly the finding can be applied.
| Evidence level | Models | What it establishes |
|---|---|---|
| Official manufacturer information | ZHITAI TiPro9000 | YMTC identifies its Xtacking 4.0 NAND architecture in its own product. |
| Physical teardown | Hiksemi/HikVision CC700 2TB | The examined 2TB unit contained a specific YMTC 232-layer TLC die. |
| Independent review sample | Acer Predator GM7, TeamGroup MP44Q 2TB, Yottamaster T7400 | The reviewed configuration contained the stated YMTC TLC or QLC flash. |
| Review inference with an explicit variation warning | Lexar NM790 | The tested sample suggested YMTC 232-layer TLC, but the brand did not confirm every unit. |
Use “documented in this model or sample” as the accurate wording. “This brand always uses YMTC” is broader than the available evidence supports.
Which generations and NAND types are represented?
The examples cover both 128-layer and 232-layer YMTC NAND, and both TLC and QLC cell types. Layer count describes the 3D stack; TLC and QLC describe how many bits each cell stores. They are separate characteristics.
| Drive or sample | Layer generation | Cell type | Published figure or context |
|---|---|---|---|
| Acer Predator GM7 sample reviewed by Tom’s Hardware | 128-layer | TLC | 1TB: 7,400 MB/s read and 6,300 MB/s write; 2TB: 1,300 TBW |
| Hiksemi/HikVision CC700 2TB teardown | 232-layer | TLC | YMTC Xtacking 3.0 1Tb die EET1A |
| TeamGroup MP44Q 2TB review sample | 232-layer | QLC | 7,000 MB/s read, 5,900 MB/s write, 1,000 TBW |
| Yottamaster T7400 review sample | 232-layer | TLC | 7,400 MB/s read and 6,500 MB/s write; 512GB to 4TB listed |
TLC generally offers more write endurance and more predictable post-cache behavior than QLC at a comparable controller design, but the actual result depends on firmware, overprovisioning, capacity and thermal conditions. Do not infer performance or lifespan from “232-layer” alone.

Can the SSD controller prove that a drive uses YMTC NAND?
No. A controller identifies the flash interface and manages the NAND; it does not uniquely identify the NAND manufacturer. The Maxio MAP1602/MAP1602A family, for example, has appeared with both YMTC and Micron flash.
The Biwin Black Opal NV7400 illustrates the risk. Tom’s Hardware found Micron flash in its reviewed 2TB unit and noted that the same controller is commonly paired with either YMTC or Micron, so controller-based shopping claims are unreliable.
- Use the controller as one clue, never as proof of NAND origin.
- Require evidence tied to the exact capacity and revision.
- Prefer an official specification, a clear teardown, or a named review that identifies the flash package.
How can you verify YMTC NAND in a specific retail drive?
When NAND provenance affects your purchase, verify the individual unit rather than relying on a brand reputation.
- Identify the exact configuration. Record capacity, model code, label revision and, when available, firmware version. A 1TB and 2TB drive can use different dies or package layouts.
- Look for model-specific evidence. Match the capacity and revision to an official specification, teardown or independent review. A review of a different capacity is supporting context, not confirmation.
- Check the flash package marking. A teardown photo or service inspection that identifies a YMTC die is stronger than a retailer’s generic “3D NAND” description. Opening a drive can affect warranty, so use published teardown evidence unless you accept that risk.
- Separate TLC from QLC. Confirm the cell type because MP44Q-style QLC behavior and endurance expectations differ from TLC examples such as the GM7 or T7400 samples.
- Buy with a return option. NAND can change without a new retail name. A return window protects you if the delivered revision does not match the documented sample.
What should you compare besides the NAND brand?
YMTC provenance is only one purchasing variable. Compare the complete drive configuration and the workload it must sustain.
- Sustained writes: advertised peak speeds usually describe a short burst or SLC-cache operation. Look for source-reported behavior after the cache is exhausted.
- Endurance and warranty: compare TBW and warranty terms for the same capacity. The 1,300 TBW GM7 and 1,000 TBW MP44Q figures are not interchangeable because they refer to different drives and configurations.
- Thermals: high-end PCIe drives may throttle without adequate airflow or a motherboard heatsink. Check whether the reviewed layout is single-sided or double-sided before selecting a laptop or compact system.
- Capacity-specific hardware: NAND packages, controller channels and cache size can change between 512GB, 1TB, 2TB and 4TB versions.
- Evidence quality: rank an official bill of materials or physical teardown above an unsupported marketplace statement.
Is there a complete list of SSDs that use YMTC?
No complete, current list is established by the available evidence. NAND sourcing changes over time, and a single model can ship with different flash by region, capacity, batch or revision.

There is also no authoritative figure for YMTC’s percentage of the global SSD market. The defensible list is therefore a curated set of documented examples, not a census. If a seller cannot identify the exact revision, treat “YMTC NAND” as unverified.
How these examples were selected
The list prioritizes identifiable products with evidence attached to a specific model or sample. Selection favors, in order, official YMTC product information, physical teardown findings, and independent reviews that name the NAND die or layer/cell type. Models with only a shared controller, a generic “3D NAND” listing, or an unsupported marketplace claim were excluded.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is YMTC NAND the same thing as QLC or TLC?
No. YMTC is the NAND manufacturer, while TLC and QLC describe how many bits each flash cell stores. A YMTC drive can use TLC, as in the documented GM7, CC700 and T7400 samples, or QLC, as in the MP44Q sample.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Will two capacities of the same SSD model perform identically?
Not necessarily. Manufacturers can change die counts, channel configuration, cache allocation and even NAND generation between capacities, so a 1TB review cannot certify a 4TB unit.
Can software identify the NAND maker without opening the SSD?
Some diagnostic utilities may expose flash identification codes, but the available evidence does not establish one universal, reliable software method for every controller and firmware. A capacity-matched teardown or review remains the safer confirmation.
Does 232-layer NAND automatically last longer than 128-layer NAND?
No. Endurance depends on cell type, process, controller, error correction, firmware and warranty policy. The documented examples include both 232-layer TLC and 232-layer QLC, which have different write characteristics despite sharing a layer count.
