On PS5, you need PlayStation Plus to play Minecraft Dungeons II online. PlayStation’s official listing says PS Plus is required for online play and specifically mentions PS Plus Essential for online co-op. Online play is optional, so you can play solo or use couch co-op without using the online multiplayer feature.
When PlayStation Plus is required
PlayStation’s US listing for Minecraft Dungeons II states that PS Plus is required for online play. It describes online co-op for up to four players and names PS Plus Essential in its promotion of that feature. The listing does not compare every PS Plus tier or explain regional subscription terms, so it does not establish that Essential is the only qualifying tier.

When you can play without online multiplayer

In practice, the deciding factor is whether you want to connect with other players online. If you are playing alone or with people locally on the same console, you do not need the online feature for those modes. For a group that includes players joining remotely, online play requires PS Plus.
What account details are confirmed
PlayStation’s listing says a PlayStation account is required for online features. The account requirements documented for the original Minecraft Dungeons should not automatically be applied to the sequel: Minecraft’s FAQ about the original game mentions a PSN account, PS Plus, and a Microsoft account, but it is not sequel-specific. See Minecraft’s account FAQ for the original Minecraft Dungeons for that game’s requirements.
