The DIY Advanced Arduino Colloidal Silver Generator is presented as an electronics project that automates electrolysis. Its creator describes PWM-based variable-current limiting, automatic electrode polarity reversal, and a timer intended to stop at a target ppm. Those are claimed device features—not independent evidence that the output concentration is accurately measured, the product is safe, or it has medical value. The health distinction matters: the U.S. National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) says colloidal silver has not been shown safe or effective for treating any disease or condition.
What the Arduino project says it does
Mirko Pavleski’s video, published October 21, 2023, describes a generator based on electrolysis and an Arduino controller. The description says the design includes PWM-based variable-current limiting, automatic polarity reversal at the electrodes, and a timer that switches the device off when a desired ppm concentration is reached. - Current control and polarity reversal: The description identifies these as automation features, but does not establish how well they work or what protections the circuit provides.
- Target-ppm shutoff: A stop condition based on a target value does not, by itself, show that the value is being measured accurately. The available project information does not independently validate the measurement method or resulting concentration.
The description does not establish a specific Arduino board model, a verified output concentration, or a validated method for characterizing the finished liquid. An Arduino development board is the relevant category if you are considering the controller component, but no particular model can be identified as required or tested from the available information.
What a ppm setting can—and cannot—tell you
A controller reaching a programmed endpoint is not the same as independently confirming what is in the liquid. In this project, the stated target ppm is a device feature; it is not a verified concentration, a safe-dose recommendation, or evidence of a health outcome. Do not treat an on-screen value, timer, or automated stop as proof that a batch has a known composition or is safe to use.

The project description does not provide independent output characterization or validation of the claimed endpoint measurement. It also does not establish that electronic controls remove the health risks associated with colloidal silver.
Health risks and evidence
NCCIH defines colloidal silver as tiny silver particles suspended in a liquid and says health-related claims lack supporting evidence. Its guidance states: “Silver has no known functions or benefits in the body when taken by mouth, and it is not an essential mineral.” NCCIH says colloidal silver is not known to be safe or effective for treating any disease or condition. Known concerns
- Argyria: Silver can build up in body tissues and cause bluish-gray skin discoloration that is usually permanent. NCCIH describes this as the best-known serious side effect.
- Medicine interactions: Colloidal silver may reduce absorption of some medicines, including certain antibiotics and thyroxine.
- Other possible harms: NCCIH notes some evidence of kidney, liver, or nervous-system problems.
NCCIH reports no clinical evidence that colloidal silver prevents or treats COVID-19. A few studies of nasal spray for chronic sinus infections did not show meaningful improvements. Do not ingest or inhale a home-generated product, use it instead of medical care, or delay seeking advice from a health care provider because of an unproven product.
U.S. regulatory context
For U.S. readers, FDA’s rulemaking history records an August 17, 1999 final rule classifying over-the-counter products containing colloidal-silver ingredients or silver salts offered to treat or prevent disease as nonmonograph under 21 CFR 310.548. This is a specific regulatory context for OTC drug products marketed for disease treatment or prevention; it is not a complete statement of the law for every product, claim, or jurisdiction. In an August 14, 2020 warning letter, FDA and FTC addressed unsupported COVID-19 claims tied to an Amazon Associates promotion of colloidal silver. The letter said the disease claims made the promoted product an unapproved new drug and directed the recipient to stop promoting it for COVID-19 uses. An affiliate link does not make an unsupported health claim acceptable. Read the warning letter.

Approach the video as a description of an automation project, not as a validated recipe for producing a safe or medically useful substance. Before evaluating a build, separate features the creator claims from details that would need independent documentation:

- Which controller board and circuit components are actually specified?
- How is current limited, and what electrical protection and isolation are documented?
- How is electrode polarity reversal implemented?
- What instrument or method measures the claimed concentration, and has that method been independently validated for the output?
- Is there independent characterization of the finished liquid?
The video description names PCBWay as a sponsor, but that does not validate the circuit or the liquid it produces. No tested generator comparisons or independently confirmed performance figures are established by the available sources.
