What the Geekbench scores mean
Single-core performance is a useful indicator for short, lightly threaded actions such as opening an app, reacting to a tap or running a foreground web task. The Dimensity’s 1,042 score is only moderately ahead of 952, so a well-optimized Snapdragon phone may still feel responsive in ordinary use.
Multi-core results matter more when several tasks run at once, when an application exports or compresses content, or when a game and background services compete for CPU time. The four-performance-core Dimensity configuration reaches 3,014 versus 2,328 for Snapdragon, a much wider gap than in single-core testing.
How to read the AnTuTu result
AnTuTu combines CPU, GPU, memory and user-experience workloads. The Dimensity total of 925,061 is 301,597 points above the Snapdragon’s 623,464. Its GPU subscore of 145,500 versus 36,348 explains much of that difference; the CPU subscore is closer, at 340,697 versus 251,733.

Both chips use a 4nm manufacturing process, but they allocate their cores differently. Dimensity 7400 has twice as many high-performance cores, runs them at a higher peak frequency and uses four efficiency cores. Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 uses two performance cores and six efficiency cores.
| CPU detail | Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 | Dimensity 7400 |
|---|---|---|
| Process | 4nm | 4nm |
| Performance cores | 2 up to 2.3GHz | 4 Cortex-A78 up to 2.6GHz |
| Efficiency cores | 6 up to 2GHz | 4 Cortex-A55 |
Why Dimensity leads in multi-core work
Four Cortex-A78 cores give the Dimensity 7400 more simultaneous high-performance capacity. That layout is especially useful for sustained multi-threaded jobs and games that spread work across several cores. Snapdragon’s six efficiency cores can handle lighter background activity economically, but only two performance cores are available for demanding bursts.
Where the Snapdragon layout can still make sense
The Snapdragon design targets lower-cost 5G phones that spend much of their time on messaging, streaming, browsing and standby. A phone maker can tune scheduler behavior so routine work stays on efficiency cores and wakes the performance cores only when needed. The chip’s 4nm process supports that goal, but actual endurance depends on the complete phone rather than core counts alone.
Which chip is better for gaming and graphics?
Dimensity 7400 is the stronger gaming platform on the available evidence. It scores 850 high and 846 low in 3DMark Wild Life Extreme, compared with 191 high and 189 low for Snapdragon 4 Gen 4. Both phones posted high stability results—99.5% for Dimensity and 99% for Snapdragon—so the advantage is performance headroom, not a large stability difference in this test.

GPU hardware and game features
MediaTek identifies an Arm Mali-G615 MC2 GPU and includes HyperEngine gaming features in its platform description. Qualcomm’s brief identifies an Adreno GPU and lists API support but does not give a model number in the cited material. Without a named Adreno model, the 3DMark results are the clearest direct comparison of graphics capability.
A higher GPU score can provide more room for higher effects, steadier frame pacing or a higher rendering resolution, but it does not guarantee a particular frame rate. Game engine settings, the phone’s screen resolution, thermal limits and the developer’s device profile all influence the result. A Dimensity phone with a high-resolution display may render more pixels than a lower-resolution Snapdragon phone, changing the practical gap.

What sustained stability tells you
The near-identical 3DMark stability percentages indicate that neither tested handset collapsed dramatically between its best and worst run. They do not establish battery drain, long-session temperature or performance after an hour of play. Those are phone-level measurements that require a separate test.
What are the complete Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 and Dimensity 7400 specifications?

Which chip supports better cameras and video?
Dimensity 7400 has the higher listed camera and video ceiling: sensors up to 200MP and 4K30 capture. Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 supports up to 108MP still images and 1080p capture. Those are input and recording limits, not guarantees of better photographs.
Image quality still depends on the phone’s sensor, lens, image-signal processing, stabilization, software tuning and exposure choices. A 108MP or 200MP specification does not mean every phone records at that resolution in every mode. Qualcomm also lists hardware multi-frame noise reduction for Snapdragon 4 Gen 4, which can help compatible devices combine multiple exposures, but the final implementation is up to the manufacturer.
How do connectivity and display support compare?
Dimensity 7400 has the higher platform ceilings for cellular, local wireless and display output. It lists 5G Release 16 with up to 3.27Gbps downlink, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4. Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 lists sub-6GHz 5G with up to 2.5Gbps downlink and 0.9Gbps uplink, Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.1.
Dimensity supports either WFHD+ at 120Hz or FHD+ at 144Hz. Snapdragon supports FHD+ at 120Hz. The refresh-rate maximum is only useful when the handset actually includes a panel and software mode that enables it; manufacturers can choose a lower rate to reduce power use.
Peak modem speeds are theoretical platform limits. Carrier spectrum, signal quality, network congestion, regional bands and the phone’s antenna design determine what a user sees. The Snapdragon figure is explicitly for sub-6GHz operation, while the cited Dimensity specification identifies 5G Release 16 but does not provide a regional speed guarantee.
What do memory, storage and charging specifications mean in practice?
Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 specifies LPDDR5 memory up to 3,200MHz and a two-lane UFS 3.1 interface. Dimensity 7400 can be paired with LPDDR5 or LPDDR4x and lists UFS 2.2 or UFS 3.1. A particular phone’s RAM capacity and storage type can therefore matter nearly as much as the SoC label when apps reload or large games install.
Quick Charge 4+ is listed for Snapdragon 4 Gen 4. The cited Dimensity page gives no charging wattage, because charging behavior is OEM-dependent. Neither platform specification establishes a battery-capacity figure or a standardized battery-life percentage for this comparison. Charger, battery chemistry, thermal policy, screen brightness and modem use all affect endurance.

Are these benchmark results a fair chip-to-chip comparison?
They are useful directional evidence, but not a controlled same-device experiment. The Snapdragon and Dimensity results came from different phones, with different displays, cooling assemblies, memory configurations, software builds and battery states. Qualcomm’s own product brief cautions that results vary with OEM implementation and other factors.
- Use the scores to identify the likely performance tier, not to promise an identical score for another model.
- Check whether the phone uses LPDDR5 or LPDDR4x, UFS 3.1 or UFS 2.2, and how much RAM is installed.
- Look for independent long-session tests when sustained gaming temperature or throttling is important.
- Compare the actual display resolution: a 144Hz FHD+ panel and a 120Hz WFHD+ panel place different loads on the GPU.
- Confirm regional 5G bands and carrier compatibility instead of relying on a peak downlink number.
Which processor should you choose?
Choose Dimensity 7400 when performance, gaming headroom, advanced wireless standards or high-resolution video matter most. Choose Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 when the phone is substantially cheaper, you prioritize a basic 5G handset, or the specific model offers better battery capacity, software support or thermal design.
Pick Dimensity 7400 for demanding use
- Gaming is a primary use and you want the stronger published 3DMark result.
- You regularly edit, export, compress or multitask and can use four high-performance CPU cores.
- You want a phone that can pair a 4K30 camera pipeline with a high-refresh display.
- Your home network benefits from Wi-Fi 6E or you use newer Bluetooth accessories.
Consider Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 for an affordable, efficient phone
- Your workload is mainly messaging, browsing, video streaming and calls.
- The Snapdragon model has more RAM, better cooling or a larger battery than the competing Dimensity model.
- You need Quick Charge 4+ support and the phone maker supplies a compatible charger.
- You prefer a lower-cost device and do not need 4K recording or the highest gaming settings.
How should you compare two finished phones using these chips?
Start with the handset, not just the processor name. Use this checklist before buying:
- Verify the exact configuration. Record RAM type and capacity, storage interface, display resolution and refresh rate.
- Check thermal hardware. A larger vapor chamber or better heat spreading can preserve performance during long sessions.
- Read software-support details. Firmware updates can affect scheduler behavior, game profiles, camera processing and modem stability.
- Match the camera claim to your needs. Confirm whether the phone actually records 4K30 or 1080p, rather than assuming the platform maximum is enabled.
- Confirm network compatibility. Check supported bands for your country and carrier, then treat peak 5G speeds as theoretical.
- Compare battery and charging implementation. Capacity, charger-in-box policy and thermal charging limits are handset-specific.
- Use same-condition reviews where possible. Scores from the same benchmark version and similar temperatures are more informative than isolated numbers.
What is the overall verdict?
Dimensity 7400 is the clear performance winner in the cited 2026 results, particularly for graphics and multi-core work. Its four Cortex-A78 cores, Mali-G615 MC2 GPU and broader connectivity, camera and display ceilings give it more technical headroom. Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 is not a failure: it is a lower-tier 4nm 5G platform whose value depends on the complete phone, its price and its implementation. Compare the specific handsets’ cooling, memory, software, battery and screen before making the final choice.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a 4nm process make the two chips equally efficient?
No. A process node is only one part of power use. Core design, clock speeds, modem activity, display resolution, firmware and the phone’s cooling and battery determine real endurance.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Can Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 phones record 4K video?
The cited Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 platform specification lists 1080p capture, while Dimensity 7400 lists 4K at 30 frames per second. A phone’s camera app can impose additional limits, so confirm the handset’s own recording modes.
What does the 99% versus 99.5% 3DMark stability result indicate?
It suggests both tested phones maintained a similar proportion of their peak performance during that benchmark loop. It does not measure an entire gaming session, surface temperature, battery drain or performance after prolonged use.
Does every Dimensity 7400 phone include Wi-Fi 6E and a 144Hz screen?
The processor supports those ceilings, but manufacturers choose the wireless components and panel. A specific model may ship with Wi-Fi 6E disabled by region or with a lower-resolution or lower-refresh display.
Is Quick Charge 4+ faster than charging on a Dimensity 7400 phone?
There is no universal answer from the platform specifications. Snapdragon lists Quick Charge 4+, whereas the cited Dimensity page leaves charging OEM-dependent; the phone’s charger, battery and thermal limits decide actual speed.
