Cursor is the clearer fit if you want an AI agent inside your coding editor; Devin may suit developers who prefer to delegate work to a more autonomous agent. That distinction is based on Cursor’s official product documentation and secondary coverage of Devin—not a complete, current feature audit of both products. There is no universal winner: your workflow, task type, review needs, and actual usage costs matter more than a headline ranking.
How Devin and Cursor differ in practice
The most useful way to compare Devin and Cursor is to ask whether you want to work alongside an agent in an editor or hand work off to an agent. Cursor describes itself as a coding agent for building software; its Agent can work with a repository, plan and build features, fix bugs, edit code, use the terminal, and help review changes. Its official documentation is available at Cursor Docs and the Agent overview.
Secondary comparison coverage characterizes Devin as a more autonomous coding agent suited to delegated work. That characterization is useful as a workflow distinction, not a verified account of Devin’s current feature set. The sources available here do not establish a detailed, up-to-date Devin comparison for execution environment, integrations, team controls, or pricing. See Morph’s Devin vs. Cursor comparison for the secondary characterization.
| Decision point | Cursor | Devin |
|---|---|---|
| Typical work pattern | Work with an AI agent in a coding-editor workflow; the Agent can plan, edit, run terminal commands, and review. | Secondary coverage characterizes it as a more autonomous agent for delegated work; current specifics are not established here. |
| Cloud or local execution and working while away | Cursor documents cloud-based Projects for larger efforts, but the sources cited here do not establish every execution detail. | Not established by the sources cited here. |
| Repository context, integrations, and team controls | Cursor’s documentation supports repository-aware agent work; a complete feature-by-feature comparison is not established here. | Not established by the sources cited here. |
| Current price and included usage | Plan prices and usage-pool details are documented by Cursor; see the pricing section below. | Current official pricing and usage terms are not established here. |
| Review and approval | Cursor’s Agent can help review changes; decide how much human review your own workflow requires. | Not established by the sources cited here. |
Which tool should you choose?
Choose Cursor if you want to stay in your editor
Cursor is the better-supported choice when you want to keep coding in an editor while an agent helps with repository-level work. Its documented workflow covers planning, implementation, terminal commands, bug fixes, and review. This can be a natural fit if you want to direct the work in context and inspect changes as you go.

Consider Devin if you prefer a delegated-work pattern
Devin may be worth evaluating if you would rather assign work to a more autonomous agent than work beside one in an editor. That description comes from secondary comparison coverage, and does not establish Devin’s current capabilities, plan limits, or suitability for a particular project. Confirm those details with Devin’s current official materials before choosing a paid plan.
Let the task and review policy decide
For either tool, consider the kind of task, how much context the agent needs, whether you want to supervise each step, and how your team reviews generated changes before merging. A benchmark or product description cannot tell you how well an agent will handle your repository’s specific conventions or requirements.

Cursor Projects are an option for delegated work
Cursor Projects support cloud-based work on larger efforts such as features, migrations, or full applications. Cursor says Projects are available on paid plans, not Hobby. This means delegation is not a distinction exclusive to Devin, although the available sources do not establish a like-for-like comparison of the two products’ cloud workflows. See Cursor’s Projects documentation.

What the benchmark says—and does not say
A 2026 study by Pinna et al. analyzed 7,156 pull requests and reported an overall pull-request acceptance rate of 74.4% for Cursor and 68.0% for Devin in that dataset. The authors also found that no agent led across every task type. These are study results for the paper’s sample and metric, not a guarantee of code quality or a prediction for an individual developer’s repository. Read the study at arXiv: Comparing AI Coding Agents: A Task-Stratified Analysis of Pull Request Acceptance.

A practical checklist before paying
- Decide whether you want an agent in your editor or a workflow centered on delegating tasks.
- Try representative tasks from your own work, rather than relying only on broad benchmark results.
- For Cursor, account for model choice and how it draws on the plan’s included usage pools.
- For Devin, verify current official pricing, usage terms, capabilities, and any relevant team controls directly with the vendor.
- Set expectations for how you will inspect and approve agent-generated changes before merging them.
