As of October 30, 2026, wait before buying Dead by Daylight: Terrifier. The chapter is scheduled for November 24, 2026, is not yet available on Steam, and has no published launch price. Buy it at launch if you specifically want to play Art the Clown, Sienna Shaw, or collect the Terrifier-themed extras. Wait for the final perk and balance details if you care about competitive value, and skip or defer it if you do not care about the license: Hartshorne Mall is free to all players, so it is not exclusive paid value.
The detailed gameplay below comes from the 10.3.0 Terrifier public test build (PTB). Behaviour Interactive can change perk numbers, durations, and balance before release.

What does the Dead by Daylight: Terrifier chapter include?
The chapter adds one Killer, one Survivor, an original map, and two account extras. The Killer is Art the Clown, listed in-game as The Terrifier. His power is called Bag of Toys. The Survivor is Sienna Shaw, and the map is Hartshorne Mall.
Recommended Free Tools
- Killer: Art the Clown (The Terrifier), with the Bag of Toys power.
- Survivor: Sienna Shaw.
- Map: Hartshorne Mall, an original Dead by Daylight map.
- Extras: Art Crispies Cereal charm and Clown Cafe Banner.
The official store description says that purchasing the add-on unlocks the Art Crispies Cereal charm and the Clown Cafe Banner. The Steam listing also requires the Dead by Daylight base game; this is downloadable content, not a standalone game.
Is Hartshorne Mall exclusive to people who buy the DLC?
No. Dead by Daylight’s official chapter guide says that maps remain free for all players. Hartshorne Mall is confirmed chapter content, but you should not assign it a separate paid value when deciding whether the Terrifier add-on is worthwhile.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
That policy changes the calculation. Someone who buys the chapter gets access to Art, Sienna, and the two listed extras, while players who do not buy it can still encounter and play on the map through normal matchmaking when it is selected. If the map is the only part that interests you, purchasing the chapter is difficult to justify.
How does Art the Clown play in the Terrifier PTB?
Art’s Bag of Toys is a rotating, random toolset rather than a conventional weapon that is always available in the same form. The PTB draws two Toys at a time from a five-item pool, and each Toy is single-use. You therefore have to adapt to the options you receive instead of planning every chase around one permanent attack.
Acid Bottle
Acid Bottle lets Art throw bottles or create acid puddles. The area-control angle can influence where a Survivor runs next and can set up pressure around objectives or common routes. The PTB description establishes the bottle and puddle functions, but not a final live damage, duration, or slowdown value.
Flail
The Flail is a sweeping attack that can reach over certain obstacles. That gives Art a way to threaten loops that would normally force a Killer to walk around a pallet or other piece of cover. The exact obstacles it can clear and the final attack timing remain subject to the version that ships.
Handgun
The Handgun provides a ranged bullet attack. It adds a line-of-sight threat to a character otherwise built around short, situational tools, but the PTB information does not establish a final damage profile or ammunition behavior for the launch build.
Flamethrower
The Flamethrower projects a stream of fire that can affect Pallets, Windows, and Generators. Its value is not limited to direct Survivor pressure: it can also alter how a loop is used and interfere with an objective. Because the PTB is not the final release, treat its exact range, timing, and effects as provisional.

Bike Horn
Bike Horn reveals Survivors with Killer Instinct and applies Oblivious for a currently variable duration. The reveal helps Art locate targets, while Oblivious removes the normal terror-radius warning for affected Survivors. The duration is explicitly variable in the PTB notes, so do not use an early number as a promise about launch behavior.
What is the gameplay trade-off of Bag of Toys?
The power’s appeal is variety. A player who enjoys improvisation gets a different short-term problem each time the random draw changes: one set may favor ranged pressure, another may favor loop denial, and another may provide tracking. That novelty is the strongest gameplay reason to buy the chapter.
The same design can be a drawback for players who want a predictable, optimized plan. Since the Toys are randomly selected and single-use, Art is not presented as an always-available version of one reliable attack. You must spend the tool at an appropriate moment and then work with what remains. This is an interpretation of the confirmed PTB mechanics, not a claim that Art will be stronger than other Killers after launch.
What perks does Art the Clown have?
The 10.3.0 PTB lists three Killer perks. Their effects and numerical values are test-build information, so use the descriptions to understand their intended roles rather than treating the PTB numbers as final.
Funny Business
Damaging a Generator grants Haste and triggers one of several random outcomes. The perk is designed around turning a generator kick into immediate movement or secondary pressure, but its usefulness depends on the final Haste amount, trigger rules, and random outcomes.
Kill Spree
Kill Spree creates a late-trial kill condition once the remaining Survivors have reached two Hook States and all Generators are completed. It is therefore aimed at the endgame rather than the opening chase. Whether that condition is practical in live matches will depend on the final wording and how often a trial reaches the required state.

Laughingstock
Laughingstock affects Survivors near completed Generators with Exhausted and Oblivious, while revealing the Auras of completed Generators. The perk combines information with temporary restrictions on Survivor movement abilities, but the radius, duration, and other numbers may change before release.
These perks could matter more to build-focused players than the license itself. However, there is no final live data yet with which to judge their long-term place in the meta. If your purchase decision depends mainly on perk strength, waiting is the conservative choice.

Sienna is the chapter’s support-oriented Survivor. Her PTB perks reward protection plays, help teammates recover from Exhausted, and interact with dropped item types. She is a different kind of attraction from Art: the value is in coordinated team play rather than a licensed Killer power.
Valkyrie’s Rage
Valkyrie’s Rage rewards surviving a chase by increasing the duration of your next pallet stun. It favors a Survivor who can stay alive under pressure and then convert that chase into stronger peel or rescue potential at a later moment.
Shared Trauma
Shared Trauma helps nearby Survivors recover from Exhausted after Sienna takes a protection hit. It also shows the Auras of Exhausted Survivors within range. The perk therefore supports deliberate body-blocking and protection decisions while helping Sienna locate teammates who cannot currently use Exhaustion perks.
Best Gift Ever
Best Gift Ever grants tokens that interact with dropped item types. Its value depends on how often items are available and how the final token rules work, making it more situational than a universally useful repair or chase perk.

Sienna is a sensible reason to buy for players who enjoy team support, protection hits, and item interactions. She is less compelling if you only want a new Killer or do not use support-focused builds.
What part of the chapter is actually paid value?
Once the free-map policy is removed from the calculation, the paid package is concentrated in two playable characters and two extras. Art is the high-concept purchase: Bag of Toys offers the chapter’s distinctive mechanical identity. Sienna supplies a support-focused Survivor option. The Art Crispies Cereal charm and Clown Cafe Banner add themed customization but do not expand the core roster.
Use these five questions before deciding:
- Character appeal: Do you want to play Art the Clown or Sienna Shaw often enough to justify a separate add-on?
- Gameplay novelty: Does a random, single-use toolbox sound more interesting than the Killers and Survivors you already own?
- Perk value: After the final patch notes are published, do the live versions fill gaps in your preferred builds?
- Licensed-fandom value: Are the Terrifier references and the two extras worth paying for even if the characters are not top-tier?
- Price: Is the confirmed launch price reasonable for two characters, given that the map is available free to all players?
How much will the Terrifier DLC cost?
No confirmed launch price was displayed in the consulted official listings as of October 30, 2026. Do not assume that a previous chapter’s price will carry over, and do not treat a store placeholder or an older DLC price as evidence for this release.
The practical approach is to wait for the official store page to show the price, then compare it with what you would pay for the two characters and the extras alone. If the map is your main reason for buying, remember that the map policy does not make it an exclusive purchase benefit.
Should you buy at launch, wait, or skip?
Buy at launch if you are a Terrifier fan
Buy at launch when playing Art the Clown or Sienna Shaw is the point of the purchase. The two characters are the chapter’s exclusive playable content, and the charm and banner provide additional licensed flavor. This recommendation assumes the final price is acceptable once it is published.
Wait if performance and perk strength matter most
Wait for the final launch information and early player reviews if you care about Killer strength, perk usefulness, or balance. The available detailed mechanics come from the 10.3.0 PTB, and Behaviour Interactive can change effects, values, and timings before November 24.
Skip or defer if you are value-focused
Skip or defer the purchase if you do not care about the Terrifier license and only want another map. Hartshorne Mall is free for all players, so the exclusive package is relatively small: one Killer, one Survivor, and two extras. Your existing roster may offer better value if neither character appeals to you.

What is still unknown about the chapter?
The final launch price, final perk numbers, and final balance are not established in the available information. The PTB describes intended mechanics, but it cannot guarantee that every duration, range, trigger condition, or random outcome will remain unchanged.
There is also no reliable launch reception, sales figure, player-count figure, or review score for an unreleased chapter as of October 30, 2026. A purchase decision should therefore be based on the confirmed contents and your own priorities, not on invented popularity or performance statistics.
How we picked the recommendation
The recommendation weighs confirmed package contents, the official free-map policy, the chapter’s unreleased status, and the distinction between PTB mechanics and final live data. It gives the most weight to character appeal and gameplay fit, then treats perk strength and price as launch-day checks because both remain unsettled.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are the Art Crispies Cereal charm and Clown Cafe Banner gameplay items?
No. They are listed as chapter extras and account unlocks, so they are customization rewards rather than additional powers, perks, or playable characters. Their value is primarily thematic for players collecting Terrifier-related cosmetics.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Can Art use the same Toy repeatedly during one match?
The PTB notes say each Toy is single-use. After a selected Toy is spent, your next decisions depend on the remaining draw rather than an unlimited supply of that exact tool.
Will the PTB perk descriptions be identical at release?
Not necessarily. The 10.3.0 build is a test version, and perk values, durations, trigger conditions, or balance can change before the November 24, 2026 launch. Check the final in-game text before buying for a specific build idea.
Do I need to own Dead by Daylight before buying this chapter on Steam?
Yes. The Steam listing requires the Dead by Daylight base game. The Terrifier release is an add-on, not a standalone version of the game.
