Choose Cyberpunk 2077 for an open world and broad progression
Cyberpunk 2077 is set in Night City and is presented by its publisher as an open-world action-adventure RPG. Its structure is the better fit if you want to move around a large city, take on jobs, shape a character and playstyle, and follow a story in which choices affect relationships and the world. The original 2018 announcement called it an open-world, narrative-driven role-playing game; the current official page also emphasizes customization, reputation, and upgrades.

Stealth and hacking are possible approaches, but the game’s scale does not mean every main-story encounter offers the same degree of open-ended problem solving. Rick Lane’s September 30, 2026 PC Gamer essay describes some side activities and abilities as immersive-sim-like while judging the central story more directed. That is one critic’s assessment, not a universal verdict or a direct comparison test.
Choose Deus Ex: Mankind Divided for compact hubs and infiltration
Mankind Divided follows Adam Jensen, a covert agent in a 2029 world marked by hostility toward mechanically augmented people. Its missions put more emphasis on selecting an approach: you can favor stealth, choose lethal or non-lethal tactics, or use combat and your weapons and augmentations to handle obstacles. GameSpot’s 2016 review describes the main game as a series of infiltration and investigation scenarios, with Prague hubs, optional side missions, and rewards for exploration.

This is the stronger fit if you enjoy studying a space, weighing routes, and deciding how to get through a mission rather than roaming a vast city between objectives. The PlayStation listing also describes Breach, a separate puzzle-arcade mode; GameSpot noted its online competitive format.
Compare the play styles, not an overall winner
For exploration
Cyberpunk 2077 is the clear choice if your priority is an open-world city and the freedom to spend time moving between jobs and activities. Mankind Divided offers exploration too, but in more contained hubs and mission areas rather than the same open-world format.

For stealth and tactical routes
Mankind Divided makes approach selection and lethal or non-lethal stealth a central part of its pitch. Cyberpunk also supports stealth, hacking, and varied tactics in some missions, but those systems sit inside a broader open-world RPG and do not guarantee that every story encounter can be solved in equally flexible ways.
For character customization
Both games let you tailor how you play. Cyberpunk’s official description highlights character and playstyle customization, jobs, reputation, and upgrades. Mankind Divided highlights Jensen’s weapons and augmentations. The available evidence does not establish that either game has categorically more viable builds.

For story consequences
Both games include choices that matter to the story. Cyberpunk’s official page says choices shape relationships, story, and world. In a PlayStation Blog interview published July 5, 2016, Mankind Divided executive narrative director Mary DeMarle said the team wanted choices and consequences to pay off on multiple levels, including affecting how the final mission and ending play out.
Check platform, edition, and content before buying
Availability differs by platform and region, so verify the version in your local store rather than assuming that a listing for one system or territory applies everywhere. The official Cyberpunk 2077 page lists PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2, and describes an Ultimate Edition that includes Phantom Liberty and previously released content. It also outlines platform-dependent contents for its physical Day 1 edition; that does not confirm current stock for a particular platform or region.

The inspected Mankind Divided PlayStation page is for the U.S. PS4 listing, not a complete global compatibility guide. The ESRB lists a Windows PC version and rates the game M for Mature 17+, citing Blood, Drug Reference, Intense Violence, Partial Nudity, Sexual Themes, Strong Language, and Use of Alcohol. Its PlayStation listing also identifies the PS4 version as PS4 Pro Enhanced. Check the platform-specific store page for current edition and add-on details.
