Do you have to finish the finale before the DLC appears?
There is no published requirement saying that Charting the Unknown appears only after the main-story finale. Pearl Abyss’s official expansion page describes new threats, ocean exploration, expanded housing and facilities, deeper relationships, and stories involving Kliff, Oongka and Damiane, but it does not specify a finale quest flag, post-credits trigger or required save slot.
Therefore, finishing the finale is not evidence that an unlock failed. Treat “I beat the game and still cannot see it” as a visibility, entitlement, platform or installation symptom. Do not delete a completed save merely because the add-on is absent.
Is the DLC available on your platform?

If your storefront does not offer the expansion for your edition or region, an empty in-game menu is an availability issue, not a corrupted save. A physical-edition purchase path on the official page likewise does not prove that a digital entitlement has been attached to your account.

Can a version mismatch stop the DLC from working?
Yes. Pearl Abyss’s known-issues notice explicitly warns: “The game may crash if the base game and DLC versions don’t match.” Its prescribed remedy is to update both to the latest versions so the game can launch successfully.

Perform one clean update-and-restart cycle and check the menu again. If the entitlement is still absent or unclaimable, preserve the save and report the problem through Pearl Abyss support. No—not as a first-line fix. A community report says deleting %localappdata%/Pearl Abyss caused save-data loss, while another report says its successful installation repair did not delete local save folders. The conflicting reports are enough to treat local profile-data deletion as high risk.
If support specifically asks for local-data removal, make an independent copy of every save and configuration folder first, confirm which account and cloud service can restore progress, and follow the support agent’s exact path. Do not use a generic “delete all local data” instruction as a substitute for diagnosing the installation folder.
What if the game launches but the save or DLC is still missing?
