Is CRACK a physics-puzzle game?
Only partly. CRACK uses real-time physical behavior for shell fragments and scaffolding, but it does not present a sequence of self-contained levels with one physics solution. Its core challenge is managing a workplace: earn money, buy equipment, meet the shift deadline, respond to the egg and uncover what the laboratory is hiding.
In a conventional physics game, gravity, momentum, friction, joints or collisions are the puzzle. PhyFun’s definition emphasizes a simulation that cannot fully know the player’s action until it happens. CRACK fits that description in localized systems, especially when a shell fragment breaks away or an unsupported platform gives way, but those systems serve an incremental co-op adventure rather than a puzzle campaign.
What do you actually do in CRACK?
The developer’s loop is succinct: “every crack earns money, every payout buys a better way to crack.” A normal run alternates between physical work, hauling, selling and purchasing upgrades.

Break, collect and sell
You begin with a pickaxe and chisel. You chip the outer shell and inner layers, collect pieces in buckets and take them to the selling point. Coverage of a pre-release build identified shell, tissue, calcite and bone, with stranger material deeper inside. Some parasites must be delivered to a processor before they explode, turning transport into a timed risk rather than a simple collection task.
Replace tools and automate the job
Tools wear out, so replacements are a recurring expense. Progression adds shovels, drills, jackhammers and dynamite, then scaffolding, golf carts, collector robots and a robotics bay. The jump in efficiency when robots unlock was a notable pacing change in a six-hour preview, although no official completion time has been published.
Beat the shift clock
Each shift lasts only a few real-time minutes. You must return to your bunk before the shift ends or pay for a “complimentary” sedative. Hatch Corp’s notices make the workplace threat explicit: “PERSONNEL REMAINING ON THE FLOOR WILL BE PENALIZED.” An end-of-day recap includes a time-lapse camera view of the crew, while the laboratory AI comments on your performance.
Manage the egg’s agitation
A monitor tracks how agitated the egg is. Repeatedly hammering one area raises the meter faster. Limited sedative charges can delay a reaction, but the egg can trigger one of seven events, from a power outage to spawned tentacles. The most agitated area may regrow unless you install Support Spikes. The result is pressure to move around the surface instead of mining one lucrative spot indefinitely.
Build upward with real supports
The laboratory floor reaches only the bottom of the egg, so deeper work requires a simple construction kit. Poles, floors and supports let you build multi-level scaffolds. Unsupported sections fall, and bolts loosen over time. This is the clearest construction-puzzle component: placement and structural support matter, but the purpose is to reach new work areas and improve a continuing job.
How does CRACK compare with traditional physics puzzles?
The decisive difference is session shape. CRACK gives you one persistent egg, a workplace, a clock and an upgrade tree. Physics-puzzle games usually give you a level, a defined objective and a reset button.

Buy CRACK if two to four people want an inexpensive PC game they can start together. Its natural audience overlaps with co-op workplace indies: players divide cracking and hauling, pool money for large purchases and use proximity voice chat. Choose Angry Birds 2 or Royal Smash! for projectile play
These are the projectile-puzzle branch: set an angle and force, release, then let collisions determine the result. Does CRACK support multiplayer, and does everyone need a copy?
CRACK supports single-player and online co-op for one to four people. Every participant needs their own Steam copy; four list-price seats cost $31.96, or about $27.16 while the 15% introductory price lasts through 2 November 2026. A transfer device lets players pool money for expensive purchases even though each wallet is separate.

What is inside the egg, and how much horror is there?
The game deliberately withholds a clean answer. The egg reacts to mining, the laboratory contains hidden doors and locked areas, and the official material promises multiple endings. Interior layers become increasingly unfamiliar, including tissue, calcite, bone and creatures that can explode if not processed quickly.
The tone is corporate comedy with mild horror rather than a pure horror campaign. A preview reported at least one genuine jump scare, while the trailer and signage keep returning to the idea that workers are disposable: “YOU ARE REPLACEABLE.” If you want an entirely harmless construction toy, World of Goo 2 or Poly Bridge 3 is a safer match.
