Possibly—but the evidence currently supports a promising controller design, not a proven PS2-on-iPhone setup. Abxylute’s M5 and M6 slide up behind a phone and expose two sticks, a D-pad, face buttons, shoulder buttons and triggers, giving them the physical layout that 3D console games need. However, the available coverage does not report a completed PS2 emulation test, frame-rate result or game-compatibility table. Treat them as a credible answer to the problem of carrying a proper gamepad, rather than as confirmed PS2 hardware.

What makes the M5 and M6 different from ordinary phone controllers?

The M5 and M6 are designed to remain with the phone. Their magnetic bodies slide upward when you want to play, revealing a full control set instead of leaving a separate controller in a drawer. That permanence addresses the practical failure of many mobile setups: the controller may work well, but it is not available when the gaming opportunity appears.

Both models put two thumbsticks, a D-pad, four face buttons, shoulder buttons and triggers behind the display. That arrangement is much closer to a conventional console pad than a touchscreen overlay or a retro pad without analog controls.

How the two models differ

  • M5: low-profile carbon-film thumbsticks.
  • M6: capacitive thumbsticks and Hall-effect triggers.

Those component differences may matter for feel and durability, but the available material does not provide independent measurements or a comfort comparison. Neither model should be described as having demonstrated PS2 performance on an iPhone.

Yojaro 4Pack Silicone Suction Phone Case Mount, Silicon Adhesive Smartphones Stand Sticky, Hands-Free Phone Accessories Holder for Selfies and Videos (Black & White & Translucent & Light Pink)
  • 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
  • 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
  • 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
  • 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
  • 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)

Can the M5 or M6 actually run PS2 games on an iPhone?

There is no verified answer yet. The hardware appears suitable for PS2-style controls because it includes the two sticks, shoulder buttons and analog triggers that many 3D games expect, but controller layout alone does not establish that an iPhone can emulate a particular PS2 title at playable speed.

The published discussion uses expectation rather than a completed test. It does not identify a PS2 emulator build, tested game, frame rate, graphics settings, thermal behavior or input-mapping result. The accurate conclusion is therefore: the M5 and M6 could make PS2-style play more practical if the phone, emulator and game are already capable, but that capability remains unverified in the available coverage.

  • BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
  • COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
  • INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.

When can you buy the M5 or M6?

In the captured 2026 material, both models remain in Kickstarter campaign stage. Early-bird pricing had ended, and Abxylute’s own homepage linked the campaign while showing M5/M6 reservations as closed. That means campaign status and fulfillment should be checked directly before committing; it is not evidence of normal retail stock or a guaranteed delivery date.

Do not assume that a retailer listing for another Abxylute model means M5 or M6 units are shipping through the same channel. Their availability is a separate question.

What is the practical alternative available now?

The Abxylute M4 is the smaller, currently listed fallback. It is a MagSafe mobile controller with two small joysticks, hair triggers and L1/L2 and R1/R2 controls. Abxylute advertises native compatibility with iPhone 11 and newer, Bluetooth support for iOS, Android, Nintendo Switch and PC, HID operation, PS Remote Play, and emulator support including Delta, RetroArch and PPSSPP.

That advertised emulator list should not be read as PS2 confirmation: PPSSPP is a PSP emulator, and no source here verifies a PS2 emulator, title or performance result.

How does this approach compare with other mobile-controller designs?

The central trade-off is readiness versus full-size comfort. A controller that stays attached is easier to have with you, while a larger separate pad can be more comfortable but requires another item to carry.

Who should wait for the M5 or M6, and who should choose the M4?

  • Wait for M5/M6 information if the main goal is a controller that remains magnetically attached and you can accept campaign-stage availability.
  • Consider the M4 if a light, pocketable controller with two sticks is more important than full-size ergonomics and you have an iPhone 11 or newer.
  • Choose a separate full-size pad if long sessions and grip comfort matter more than having the controller permanently with the phone.
  • Keep expectations controlled if PS2 emulation is the deciding requirement: verify the emulator, iPhone model, game and input mapping independently before buying.

What should you verify before ordering?

  1. Check whether your iPhone model meets the controller’s stated compatibility requirement and whether it uses the required MagSafe attachment method.
  2. Confirm the controller’s current stock, campaign status, delivery terms and price; the M5/M6 status captured in 2026 was not ordinary retail availability.
  3. Identify the exact emulator and game you intend to use. An advertised list containing Delta, RetroArch or PPSSPP does not prove PS2 support.
  4. Look for a current, title-specific compatibility report rather than relying on the presence of analog sticks.
  5. Decide whether small, portable controls are acceptable for your session length, since no cited source provides a measured ergonomics comparison.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Abxylute M4 require an iPhone with MagSafe?

The M4 is marketed as a MagSafe mobile controller, while its listed native phone compatibility starts at iPhone 11. Check your case, magnetic alignment and the current product instructions before assuming a secure attachment.

Is PPSSPP a PlayStation 2 emulator?

No. PPSSPP emulates PlayStation Portable software. Its appearance in the M4 compatibility list confirms an advertised emulator use case, not support for PlayStation 2 games.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Are the M5 and M6 sold through normal retailers?

The 2026 information describes them as Kickstarter-stage products, with early-bird pricing ended and reservations shown closed on Abxylute’s homepage. Retail availability and fulfillment should therefore be confirmed at the time you order.

Why do two analog sticks matter for PS2-style games?

Many 3D console games use one stick for movement and the other for camera control, while shoulder buttons and triggers handle actions or analog input. A pad without sticks can still suit older 2D systems, but it is a poor physical match for that control scheme.
