Correction: The company is Cloudflare, not “Cloudfare.” As of August 8, 2026, Cloudflare is not reporting a new worldwide network outage. Its status page shows two active, regional incidents: reduced availability for some R2 storage buckets in Eastern North America and network-performance problems in Istanbul.
The large global outage most people are referring to happened on November 18, 2025. Cloudflare later said that incident was caused by an internal Bot Management configuration failure—not a DDoS attack.
Latest Cloudflare status: August 8, 2026
Cloudflare’s status page currently lists Cloudflare Sites and Services as having Degraded Performance. However, most major individual services—including CDN/Cache, Authoritative DNS, API, Workers, and Recursive DNS—are listed as operational.

The two active incidents are:
| Incident | What is affected | Latest known details |
|---|---|---|
| R2 availability issues in Eastern North America | A small number of R2 buckets | Writes were affected from 14:52 to 17:02 UTC on August 7. Cloudflare was still restoring availability at 10:52 UTC on August 8. |
| Network performance issues in Istanbul | Connectivity and performance in the Istanbul region | Cloudflare reported losing dark fiber and said it was working with vendors to restore connectivity. The incident was marked Investigating at 08:25 UTC on August 8. |
These are not evidence of a new global Cloudflare failure. R2 is Cloudflare’s object-storage service, and the Istanbul incident is regional. They should not be described as a worldwide outage affecting the entire Cloudflare network.

- A change to database permissions caused Cloudflare’s Bot Management system to generate a feature file containing duplicate entries.
- The duplicate entries caused the file to become roughly twice as large.
- Cloudflare distributed the oversized file across its network.
- Traffic-routing software encountered a size limit while processing the file and failed.
- The failure affected Cloudflare’s ability to deliver core traffic for customer websites.
Cloudflare initially suspected a large-scale DDoS attack because of the scale and behavior of the failure. Its later investigation ruled out a cyberattack and malicious activity. The incident was an internal failure, not a successful attack against Cloudflare.
Other significant Cloudflare incidents
December 5, 2025: React Server Components mitigation change
A separate incident lasted about 25 minutes, from 08:47 to 09:12 UTC. Cloudflare said it affected customers representing approximately 28% of Cloudflare-served HTTP traffic.
The company attributed the incident to changes made while mitigating the React Server Components vulnerability CVE-2025-55182. Cloudflare said the incident was not caused by an attack.

- DUAL-BAND WIFI 6 ROUTER: Wi-Fi 6(802.11ax) technology achieves faster speeds, greater capacity and reduced network congestion compared to the previous gen. All WiFi routers require a separate modem. Dual-Band WiFi routers do not support the 6 GHz band.
- AX1800: Enjoy smoother and more stable streaming, gaming, downloading with 1.8 Gbps total bandwidth (up to 1200 Mbps on 5 GHz and up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz). Performance varies by conditions, distance to devices, and obstacles such as walls.
- CONNECT MORE DEVICES: Wi-Fi 6 technology communicates more data to more devices simultaneously using revolutionary OFDMA technology
- EXTENSIVE COVERAGE: Achieve the strong, reliable WiFi coverage with Archer AX1800 as it focuses signal strength to your devices far away using Beamforming technology, 4 high-gain antennas and an advanced front-end module (FEM) chipset
- OUR CYBERSECURITY COMMITMENT: TP-Link is a signatory of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) Secure-by-Design pledge. This device is designed, built, and maintained, with advanced security as a core requirement.
A change to the IP-address onboarding process unintentionally withdrew approximately 1,100 customer BGP prefixes. Applications using the affected prefixes became unreachable or experienced connection timeouts until the routing problem was corrected.
How to tell whether Cloudflare or your website is down
A Cloudflare error page does not automatically mean that the website’s origin server is offline. Cloudflare operates between the visitor and many customer websites. A problem in Cloudflare’s edge network, routing, DNS, or security systems can prevent visitors from reaching a healthy origin server.
Use this quick check before changing DNS records or restarting your server:
- Open cloudflarestatus.com and check the incident’s affected services and regions.
- Test the website from another connection, such as mobile data. If only one ISP or location fails, the issue may be local or regional.
- Check the HTTP status and error text. A Cloudflare-branded 5xx page is different from an application-generated error from the origin.
- Check your origin server directly, if you have a permitted health-check hostname or direct address. Do not expose an origin IP merely for testing if your security policy forbids it.
- Review Cloudflare’s incident updates before changing DNS, proxy settings, firewall rules, or BGP configuration.
Do not immediately switch a site from proxied to DNS-only mode. That can expose the origin IP, bypass Cloudflare security controls, and make diagnosis harder. Make that change only as part of a planned recovery procedure.
Rank #4
- Compatible with major cable internet providers including Xfinity and Cox. NOT compatible with Verizon, Spectrum, AT&T, CenturyLink, DSL providers, DirecTV, DISH and any bundled voice service. Best for cable provider plans up to 800Mbps.
What website owners should do during an outage
- Check the scope: Determine whether the incident affects your Cloudflare product, region, or traffic path.
- Preserve evidence: Record timestamps in UTC, request IDs, Ray IDs, HTTP status codes, traceroutes, and affected regions.
- Separate origin health from edge health: Check origin CPU, memory, application logs, load balancer status, and direct health checks independently.
- Use a documented failover: If your business requires it, maintain a tested secondary DNS, CDN, or traffic-provider plan. Avoid making emergency routing changes without knowing their TTL and propagation effects.
- Monitor recovery: A status-page update saying that mitigation has started does not necessarily mean every region or customer is already recovered.
