Anthropic documents /color for prompt input color and /terminal-setup for a specific keyboard shortcut—not for chart support or general theme compatibility.
How Claude Code themes relate to your terminal
Claude Code’s theme and the terminal emulator’s color scheme are separate settings. Anthropic says the terminal application controls its own colors; Claude Code’s /config setting lets you choose a theme that matches the terminal. Changing Claude Code’s theme does not change the terminal palette globally. See Anthropic’s terminal configuration guidance.
Change Claude Code’s appearance
Choose light or dark mode
In Claude Code, enter /config and use the theme setting to choose or match the app’s appearance. The Claude Help Center identifies /config as the control for light and dark mode.
Change prompt input color
The Help Center also documents /color for changing the color used for prompt input. This is a Claude Code appearance setting, not a terminal-wide palette control.

What setup and compatibility mean
Claude Code’s setup requirements are separate from theme and shortcut behavior. The retrieved Anthropic setup guide lists macOS 10.15 or later; Ubuntu 20.04 or later or Debian 10 or later; Windows 10 or later with WSL 1, WSL 2, or Git for Windows; Node.js 18 or later; and at least 4 GB of RAM. Requirements and installation steps can change, so consult the live setup guide before installing.
The guide describes global npm installation with npm install -g @anthropic-ai/claude-code and warns not to run it with sudo. It lists authentication through Anthropic Console, a Claude Pro or Max account, or enterprise platforms such as Amazon Bedrock and Google Vertex AI.

What /terminal-setup does—and does not do
Anthropic’s Help Center says /terminal-setup configures Shift+Enter in IDE terminals, Warp, and Alacritty. It says Apple Terminal is not supported by that command. This is a limitation of the shortcut helper, not evidence that Claude Code itself is incompatible with Apple Terminal or that its theme controls do not work there.
Can you create a custom theme?
A GitHub-hosted copy of terminal documentation describes custom JSON themes, including files in ~/.claude/themes/, but that is not a canonical Anthropic source: the GitHub documentation copy. It is therefore not a sufficiently verified basis for treating its file format, preset names, or reload behavior as current official instructions. Use Anthropic’s official terminal guidance for the documented appearance controls, and check current official documentation before editing theme files.

Does Claude Code support charts, and which terminals are compatible?
The authoritative documentation cited here does not establish a native Claude Code chart-rendering feature, chart-specific theme settings, or a chart compatibility matrix for terminals or editors. It is not possible to name supported terminals for charts on this evidence. Third-party modifications that add chart or diagram output do not establish that charts are built into Claude Code.
For a compatibility decision, rely on what Anthropic actually documents: the setup guide’s operating-system prerequisites and the Help Center’s specific list of environments for the Shift+Enter helper. Neither should be read as a chart-rendering comparison.
