What connection does a PS5 wireless headset need?
Connection compatibility is the first filter. A headset should connect through PlayStation Link, a supplied USB or USB-C transmitter, or another PlayStation-supported wireless method. A 3.5mm cable connected to the DualSense controller is a useful fallback, but it is wired rather than wireless.

Why dedicated wireless links are different
Most gaming headsets in this guide use a low-latency 2.4GHz link or PlayStation Link for console audio and voice chat. Their Bluetooth radios are normally secondary: they connect to a phone or tablet, sometimes at the same time as the console link. Do you need a USB dongle?

PlayStation PULSE 3D: uncomplicated official option
PULSE 3D is designed as a straightforward PS5 headset. It includes a wireless adapter, USB-C charging, dual noise-cancelling microphones, easy-access controls and a 3.5mm cable connection for wired use.
PlayStation’s FAQ lists up to 12 hours of wireless play. The official manual specifies that its 3D Audio support applies when the PS5 game supports 3D Audio. The same manual says up to two wireless headsets can be used at once on PS5, which can be useful for local cooperative play.
Choose PULSE 3D if you want an official, simple setup and do not need PlayStation Link, simultaneous Bluetooth or the longer battery claims of newer alternatives.

Sony INZONE H5, H7 and H9: check the exact model
Sony’s INZONE FAQ says the H5, H7 and H9 can connect to a PC or PS5 through a USB transceiver while using Bluetooth with another device. When connected through that transceiver, the models use PS5 Tempest 3D AudioTech.
Do not assume that a feature listed for H9 also applies to H5 or H7. Noise cancellation, controls, battery specifications and other details differ by model, so consult the model-specific page and manual. INZONE makes the most sense for buyers already using Sony hardware or who want one USB-transceiver headset for PS5 and PC.
How should you compare microphones, chat controls and multi-device audio?
Microphone behavior matters more for multiplayer than a small difference in driver specifications. Look for a clear mute method that you can operate without removing the headset, then check whether noise handling is hardware-based or an AI-assisted claim.

Volume, microphone use, Bluetooth mixing, lighting and battery age can change real runtime. If you regularly forget to charge, prioritize a higher claimed figure or keep the charging cable near the console. For a 3.5mm fallback, connect the cable to the DualSense controller, then choose the controller-connected headset in the same Sound menus. Bluetooth-only headphones cannot be made PS5-compatible by changing this setting because the console does not support that connection type for third-party wireless headsets.

What can go wrong, and how do you fix it?
The headset does not appear in PS5 sound settings
- Confirm that the USB transmitter is fully inserted and that any USB-A adapter is connected.
- Power-cycle the headset and PS5, then repeat the model’s pairing process.
- Try another USB port and check whether the transmitter has a status light.
- Use the 3.5mm cable through the DualSense to determine whether the issue is limited to wireless hardware.
There is no microphone audio
- Check the physical mute button, flip-to-mute arm or retractable microphone position.
- In Settings > Sound > Microphone, select the headset rather than the controller microphone.
- Raise the input level gradually and ask a party member to confirm the change.

Game audio works but chat is too quiet
Use the PS5 party’s voice-chat balance controls and the headset’s game/chat controls separately. A transmitter can deliver game audio even when the console has selected the wrong microphone input, so check both output and input menus rather than changing only the volume.

3D Audio sounds unchanged
Confirm that 3D Audio for headphones is enabled, redo the personal profile adjustment and verify that the game supports the feature. 3D Audio is not restricted to PULSE headsets, but it is not guaranteed in every game or every connection mode.
