A China Construction Bank (CCB) quote can be delayed, denominated in euros, or both. The reliable way to tell is to identify the exact share class and venue first, then read the currency printed beside the price, the quote timestamp and time zone, the price type, and the provider’s delayed or real-time disclosure. CCB’s issuer filing identifies H ordinary shares as 00939 and A ordinary shares as 601939. Hong Kong 00939 is normally shown in HKD, Shanghai 601939 in CNY, while separate European quote lines can be displayed in EUR.
Do not treat an unchanged number as proof of a delay, and do not assume that a euro symbol means a Hong Kong price was mechanically converted. The venue, instrument identifier and feed disclosure determine what the screen actually represents.
What must be identified before judging a CCB quote?
Start with the security code and share class, not the company name alone. China Construction Bank has different ordinary-share classes on different venues, so two screens carrying the same company name may refer to different instruments.

These identifiers come from CCB’s December 2025 issuer return submitted on January 5, 2026. The filing’s “Listed on the Exchange” field refers to the Hong Kong listing context; a “No” shown beside the A-share entry does not mean that 601939 lacks a Shanghai listing. Read the filing at CCB’s issuer document.

Why the code matters
A price for 00939 cannot be interpreted as though it were a price for 601939. They are separate share classes, traded in different markets and normally quoted in different currencies. Before investigating latency, copy the complete symbol, exchange name and any instrument identifier shown by the provider.
European lines are separate quote records
Some quote pages list European lines in addition to Hong Kong and Shanghai. A captured MarketScreener comparison shows Hong Kong 939, Shanghai 601939 and European lines including C6T and CNCB, with the European lines labeled EUR. That page is useful for understanding how one provider presents venues; its captured values are historical and must not be reused as October 30, 2026 prices. It also does not independently establish a current German-exchange listing. See the provider’s CCB quote comparison.
Why can the same CCB name appear in HKD, CNY and EUR?
The displayed currency usually follows the quote record selected by the provider. A Hong Kong 00939 line may be labeled HKD, a Shanghai 601939 line CNY, and a separate European line EUR. A euro symbol alone does not tell you whether the provider is showing a European-traded instrument or converting another venue’s price for display.
| What the screen shows | What it establishes | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| 00939, Hong Kong, HKD | The selected record is the Hong Kong H-share line and the displayed unit is Hong Kong dollars. | Whether the feed is real-time. |
| 601939, Shanghai, CNY | The selected record is the Shanghai A-share line and the displayed unit is Chinese yuan. | That its numeric price can be compared directly with 00939. |
| C6T or CNCB, European venue, EUR | The provider has selected a European quote line whose displayed unit is euros. | That the figure is a conversion of the Hong Kong or Shanghai last trade. |
| EUR with no venue or instrument code | Only that the interface is presenting a euro-denominated number. | Which security, venue or conversion method produced it. |
To determine whether a EUR value is a traded European quote or a converted display, look for an exchange field, instrument identifier and wording such as “converted,” “reference currency” or “local currency.” If those details are absent, ask the provider rather than inferring the method from the symbol.
How do I check whether a quote is delayed?
Read the quote timestamp and the provider’s data-status notice; do not use the time at which the webpage loaded. A prior close, an unchanged last trade and a delayed feed can all look similar on a static screen.
Use the timestamp correctly
- Record the time attached to the last trade or other displayed field.
- Record the time zone, such as Hong Kong Time, China Standard Time or a European local time.
- Check whether the timestamp belongs to the current trading date for that venue.
- Note whether the value is labeled “last,” “close,” “previous close,” “indicative,” “bid” or “ask.” These are different fields.
A page that loaded at 14:30 does not prove that the price was observed at 14:30. The quote may carry an earlier market timestamp, or it may be showing the previous close while the venue is shut.

Read the provider’s delay or entitlement label
Look for text such as “real-time,” “delayed,” “15 minutes delayed,” a data-policy link or an account entitlement indicator. If the provider offers different feeds for logged-in and public users, the status can depend on the account that is viewing the page.
Understand HKEX’s published wording
HKEX’s indexed equities-quote page states: “Information is available after the market opens and is delayed by at least 15 minutes.” The statement applies to the information displayed on that HKEX quote page; it is not proof that every broker, European quote line or EUR display has exactly the same latency. Read the wording at HKEX’s equities quote page.
HKEX Information Services (China)’s 2023 guidance uses a different proposition for its specified licensing context: securities data delayed by less than 15 minutes is treated as real-time for that classification. That threshold is not a measurement of the delay on an individual consumer screen. You still need the selected provider’s own disclosure or entitlement information.
How can I verify a CCB quote step by step?
Follow this sequence whenever a quote looks stale or unexpectedly appears in euros.
- Copy the complete security identifier. Write down 00939 or 601939, the share-class description and any suffix used by the provider. If only “China Construction Bank” is visible, open the instrument details before proceeding.
- Confirm the venue. Record Hong Kong, Shanghai or the named European venue. Do not rely on a country flag or an exchange abbreviation that you have not expanded.
- Read the currency beside the actual field. Capture whether the unit is HKD, CNY or EUR and whether the page calls it local, display or converted currency.
- Identify the price field. Distinguish last trade from previous close, bid, ask, indicative value or an index-style reference. A “close” can remain unchanged without any feed problem.
- Record the quote timestamp and time zone. Save the displayed market time, not your browser’s load time. Include the date, because a quote from the prior session may be valid but not current.
- Find the data-status disclosure. Expand “market data,” “delayed quotes,” “real-time access” or similar text. Note whether the status applies to public pages, a logged-in account or a particular venue.
- Check the venue’s trading day. Compare the timestamp with that exchange’s session and holiday calendar. When the venue is closed, the last trade may legitimately be unchanged.
- Save evidence for support. Keep the quote URL, a screenshot showing the symbol, venue, currency, timestamp and status label, and the time you captured it. This gives the provider enough detail to identify the feed rather than guessing from the company name.
How should I interpret common combinations?
The following combinations separate currency questions from latency questions. Each row describes what can be concluded and what still needs confirmation.

| 00939 · Hong Kong · HKD · “15 min delayed” | The screen identifies the H-share line and declares a delay. | Confirm the timestamp and whether the label applies to your account or only the public page. |
| 00939 · Hong Kong · EUR · no conversion note | The interface is displaying euros for a 00939-related record. | Open instrument details to determine whether it is a European quote line or a converted presentation. |
| 601939 · Shanghai · CNY · old timestamp | The A-share line is shown in yuan with an older observation time. | Check the Shanghai session date and the provider’s delay disclosure. |
| C6T or CNCB · European venue · EUR | The provider has selected a separate European line in euros. | Verify the exact venue, identifier and whether the feed is delayed. |
| EUR symbol only · no code or venue | The display is insufficient to identify the instrument. | Do not compare it with 00939 or 601939 until the provider supplies those fields. |
| Unchanged number during an open session | No conclusion about delay is justified from the unchanged value alone. | Compare the quote timestamp with the market clock and read the feed-status notice. |
What does “delayed by at least 15 minutes” really mean?
It means the information shown on the cited HKEX equities-quote page is not presented as an immediate live stream and may be more than 15 minutes behind the market. “At least” is important: it does not promise a fixed 15-minute offset, and it does not describe every third-party feed.

The separate 2023 licensing guidance uses “less than 15 minutes” as a classification threshold in its own specified context. A provider could therefore describe a product as real-time under its entitlement rules while another public page remains delayed. Treat the two statements as policy definitions, not as a stopwatch reading for your particular CCB quote.
For products that advertise real-time HKEX data, HKEX describes real-time market-data services and distribution channels on its real-time data services overview. That overview does not establish the consumer plan, venue coverage or latency of an unrelated quote website.
What should I compare when choosing between quote screens?
If you are deciding which screen to rely on, compare the data characteristics rather than the visual design or the presence of a euro sign.

| Comparison axis | Question to ask |
|---|---|
| Security and share class | Does the record explicitly identify 00939 H shares or 601939 A shares? |
| Venue | Is the exchange named, and does it match the code? |
| Currency | Is HKD, CNY or EUR the local trading currency, a display currency or an explicit conversion? |
| Timestamp | Is the date, time zone and market-time field visible? |
| Price type | Are you seeing last trade, close, bid, ask or an indicative value? |
| Data status | Does the provider state real-time, delayed, or account-dependent access? |
| Market-day coverage | Does the service cover the venue’s trading sessions and holidays? |
A screen that omits the code, venue or timestamp cannot answer the delay-versus-currency question reliably, even if its number looks current.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What would a careful check look like? (Hypothetical example)
Suppose a screen shows “China Construction Bank,” a price marked EUR, the code 00939, venue “Hong Kong,” and a timestamp of 10:00 Hong Kong Time. The currency is clearly EUR on that display, but the screen has not yet established whether the provider converted a Hong Kong price or selected a separate European record. Open the instrument details and look for the exchange, identifier and conversion wording.
Now suppose the same screen labels the price “last,” shows a timestamp from the previous trading date and says nothing about delay. You can report that the displayed observation is from the prior date; you cannot label the feed “15 minutes delayed” without a provider disclosure. The example is intentionally hypothetical and contains no current price.

Which mistakes cause the most confusion?
- Searching only the company name: this can select the wrong share class. Always include the full code and venue.
- Comparing raw numbers across currencies: HKD, CNY and EUR figures are not directly comparable without a stated conversion and a matching share class.
- Assuming EUR means conversion: a provider may list a separate European quote line. Require an explicit conversion note or instrument record.
- Calling every stale-looking value “15 minutes delayed”: the figure may be a prior close, an unchanged trade or a longer delay.
- Using page-load time as quote time: the browser timestamp says when content arrived, not when the trade occurred.
- Generalizing HKEX’s statement to all feeds: the exchange’s page describes its own displayed information; third-party latency requires third-party evidence.
- Treating an after-hours screen as a new trade: a market can be closed while the latest valid trade remains displayed.
- Quoting a historical provider snapshot as current: the captured comparison page includes older observations. Use it to understand labels and venue presentation, not to publish an October 30, 2026 price.
When is the quote status still unknown?
Status remains unconfirmed when the provider hides the exchange, omits the instrument code, shows EUR without explaining the currency basis, or provides no timestamp or delay policy. In that situation, do not infer an answer from the number’s appearance.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does a euro symbol prove that CCB is listed in Europe?
No. A euro-denominated line may be a separate European quote record, but a provider could also present another venue’s value in a display currency. Confirm the exchange and instrument identifier before drawing a listing conclusion.
Can I compare 00939 and 601939 by looking only at their prices?
No. They are different share classes traded on different venues and normally quoted in HKD and CNY. A meaningful comparison requires matching the share class, venue, currency basis and timestamp.
Why might a quote show yesterday’s date even when the page is working?
The venue may be closed for the session, or the field may be a previous close rather than a live last trade. Check the market calendar and the label attached to the price field before treating the date as a technical failure.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsDoes HKEX’s 15-minute wording guarantee that my broker’s CCB quote is exactly 15 minutes late?
No. HKEX’s wording concerns information on its own equities-quote page and says “at least 15 minutes.” A broker or European provider can have different entitlements and latency, which must be confirmed in that provider’s disclosure.
