To find out whether your PC can run a Golden Joystick nominee, choose one specific game and edition, confirm that a PC version is actually sold, copy that edition’s current minimum and recommended requirements, then compare its CPU, GPU, RAM, operating system, storage and extra conditions with your own machine. A Golden Joystick nomination is an awards status, not a hardware specification.
Use the result precisely: your PC may be below the listed minimum, at the minimum on paper but below the recommended target, or at the recommended specification on paper. None of those labels promises a particular frame rate, graphics preset or stability because minimum and recommended lists are not performance tests.

The Ultimate ballot opened on October 26 and closes on October 30, 2026; the ceremony is scheduled for November 11. No 2026 winner exists yet. The organizer’s main ballot also has a separate PC Game of the Year category, whose shortlist names Big Walk, Crimson Desert and The Blood of Dawnwalker. These categories overlap, but neither category proves that every Ultimate nominee has a PC edition.
Use the award announcement to identify the title, then use that title’s publisher or an authorized PC-game store to establish the platform and requirements.
Why doesn’t the award list provide one set of PC requirements?
Each game can have a different publisher, engine, release edition and hardware target. A console listing, a similarly named sequel or a prerelease article can describe a different product from the PC edition you intend to install.
Requirements also change when a publisher updates a game. Record the edition name and the date you accessed the specification page, such as “PC edition, requirements viewed October 30, 2026.” If the page does not identify a comparable component or target, mark that item unclear rather than treating the omission as a pass.
What information do I need before I start?
Have these four things ready:
- The exact game and edition: include the full title, edition or bundle name and PC platform listing.
- The current requirement page: capture minimum and recommended entries separately, along with any update date shown by the publisher or store.
- Your PC inventory: processor model, graphics processor model, installed RAM, Windows edition and version, free installation-drive space and, when stated, the drive type.
- Any special conditions: graphics API, dedicated video memory, SSD requirement, internet connection, launcher, account or other publisher notes.
Do not rely on a label such as “gaming PC.” Exact model names matter because two processors or graphics cards with similar memory amounts can have very different capabilities.
How do I confirm that the nominee has a PC edition?
Check the product listing before looking at hardware. The award sources supply nominee names, not edition-specific system requirements.

- Search the exact nominee name on the publisher’s official site or an authorized PC-game store.
- Open the product page for the edition you would buy. Confirm that PC is listed as a platform and that the page is not only for a console version, cloud service or video trailer.
- Check the title, edition and release information. Avoid copying requirements from a similarly named installment or an old announcement.
- Locate the page’s system-requirements section. If the listing has no PC requirements, consult the publisher rather than inferring them from another game.
- Write down the page’s access or update date so your conclusion has a time boundary.
A PC edition establishes availability, not universal compatibility. A game can be released for Windows and still require a much newer processor, graphics card or storage device than your computer has.

Where should I get the minimum and recommended requirements?
Prefer the publisher’s current specification page. An authorized PC store can be useful when it reproduces the publisher’s listing, but check whether its text has an update date and whether it identifies the same edition.
Copy the two targets into a worksheet rather than blending them together:

Do not silently convert “requires an SSD” into “has enough free storage.” Capacity and drive technology are separate checks. Likewise, a GPU’s video-memory amount does not by itself establish that the GPU model meets the listed requirement.
How do I check my Windows PC’s processor and RAM?
Windows exposes the basic inventory without requiring a benchmark.
- Open Settings > System > About.
- Record the installed processor name exactly as shown.
- Record the installed RAM amount. Note whether the game’s requirement is below, equal to or above that amount.
- Record the Windows edition and version shown on the same page or under the system-information details.
Menu wording can vary between Windows releases. If the About page abbreviates a processor name, use a system-information utility to obtain the complete model before comparing it with the publisher’s entry.

How do I identify the GPU that will run the game?
Use Task Manager’s live hardware listing, then account for laptop graphics switching.
- Right-click the taskbar and open Task Manager.
- Select the Performance tab.
- Open each GPU entry and record its full model name. A system may show integrated and discrete adapters separately.
- For a laptop, identify which adapter the game is configured to use. Comparing a requirement with the CPU’s integrated graphics while the machine has a separate GPU can produce the wrong conclusion, as can assuming the discrete adapter is always active.
Record the exact GPU model, not only its dedicated-memory figure. If the requirement names a desktop card and your computer has a mobile version, treat the comparison carefully and consult the publisher when the equivalence is unclear.
How do I check storage, Windows version and other conditions?
Open File Explorer and inspect the intended installation drive for free capacity. If the requirement specifies an SSD, verify that the selected drive is an SSD rather than assuming it from the amount of space available.

Also check the operating-system version and architecture against the publisher’s wording. A game can fail a requirement because of an unsupported Windows edition or graphics API even when the CPU, GPU and RAM appear sufficient.
Write down internet, launcher, account, anti-cheat, API and video-memory conditions exactly as published. These are part of the comparison, not optional footnotes.
How should I compare my PC with the game’s two targets?
Compare one component at a time. A match in RAM does not compensate for a processor or graphics card below the minimum, and a powerful GPU does not remove an operating-system or storage requirement.

Apply the strictest result. If the GPU is below minimum but every other part is adequate, the answer is still below the listed minimum. If the publisher omits a comparable GPU-memory target and your card is an uncertain match, report the uncertainty instead of upgrading or buying on assumption.

Meeting minimum requirements means only that the publisher lists your hardware at its lower target. It does not promise a frame rate, resolution, graphics preset, loading time or stability level.
Recommended requirements are a separate target, not a guarantee either. A paper match can still be affected by driver versions, background software, patches, thermal limits, laptop power modes and settings chosen in the game. No organizer-published FPS result, hardware-pass rate or cross-nominee benchmark establishes a universal performance outcome.
For that reason, phrase a conclusion as a specification comparison rather than “this PC definitely runs it.” Include the game, PC edition and specification date in the same sentence.

Cloud or remote streaming could be relevant when local hardware is inadequate, but availability for a particular nominee and service was not established here. Do not promise that a specific game can be streamed without confirmation from the game and service operators.
What mistakes produce a false “yes”?
- Using the award category as a platform filter: Ultimate Game of the Year and PC Game of the Year are different categories, and the Ultimate list is not a list of guaranteed PC releases.
- Copying console or prerelease requirements: verify the current PC edition page.
- Comparing memory only: GPU or system-RAM capacity does not identify equivalent performance or a matching model.

How can I check Crimson Desert without inventing a verdict?
Crimson Desert is useful as a process example because it appears on both the Ultimate Game of the Year list and the separate PC Game of the Year shortlist. That overlap still does not supply its PC requirements.
- Open the publisher’s current Crimson Desert PC listing and confirm the edition you intend to play.
- Copy its minimum and recommended CPU, GPU, RAM, operating-system and storage entries, plus any API, SSD, video-memory or internet conditions. Record the page date.
- On your PC, collect the processor and RAM from Settings > System > About, the GPU from Task Manager > Performance, and free space and drive type from File Explorer.
- Compare each exact model and condition separately. Do not substitute a requirement from another nominee or a console listing.
- Write the result using one of the precise labels: below minimum, minimum on paper but below recommended, recommended on paper, or unclear where a comparison is missing.
The same sequence works for any other nominee. What changes is the verified edition-specific requirement page, not the comparison method.

A useful answer identifies the title, edition, specification date, failing or matching components and the target reached. For example, state that a named PC edition is below its listed minimum because the installed GPU is below the publisher’s minimum GPU, while the processor and RAM meet their entries. If all minimum entries match but the GPU does not reach the recommended entry, say so directly rather than calling the result simply “compatible.”
When a requirement is absent, ambiguous or not comparable with the hardware listing, use “unclear” and consult the publisher. That is more accurate than turning an incomplete specification into a guarantee.

Does an Ultimate Game of the Year nominee automatically have a Windows version?
