Usually, yes—but the pickup rules depend on the retailer and order. At Best Buy in the US, add the alternate pickup person to the order; that person should bring photo ID and the order number. At Micro Center in the US, someone else can collect an in-store pickup order, but the collector needs the order confirmation, their own ID, and their own payment method because payment is taken at pickup. Check the instructions attached to your order before sending anyone.

What to do at Best Buy
- Name the alternate pickup person. During checkout, provide that person’s name, email address, and phone number. If the order is already placed, use its order details to change the pickup person.
- Give them the pickup information. The named person should bring photo ID and the order number. Best Buy says only the customer or the person named on the order can collect it.
- For curbside pickup, follow check-in. The designated person should check in as instructed and have the four-digit code generated during check-in. Best Buy may also request ID.
- Watch the hold period. Best Buy holds store-pickup items for five days; check order details for any available extension options.

What to do at Micro Center

Do graphics cards have special pickup rules?
The policies above do not establish a universal special pickup process for graphics cards. However, additional checks may apply to a particular product or store. A TechRadar report dated October 3, 2026 described an “advanced computing product purchaser declaration” and photo ID for certain RTX 5090 purchases at the Tustin, California, Micro Center, and reported a customer describing a similar check at the Columbus, Ohio, store. That is location-specific secondary reporting, not a standard rule established for all graphics cards or all Micro Center locations.

Before the other person leaves
- Read the ready-for-pickup message and current order details; retailer rules and order-specific instructions take precedence.
- Confirm who is authorized to collect the order and what identification or order proof is required.
- For curbside pickup, verify the check-in process and code before arrival.
- At Micro Center, confirm the collector has a payment method in their own name.
- Check the pickup deadline so the order is not returned to inventory.
