Samsung Audio Eraser can reduce detected wind, crowd, nature sounds, general noise, music, and voices in a Galaxy video, but it is not a guaranteed echo remover or speaker-isolation tool. You can let the Auto setting reduce unwanted sound or adjust the detected categories with individual sliders. Wind is an explicit category, while echo and reverberation are not. A recording with several people may have its overall voice level changed, yet Samsung does not document a way to keep one speaker and remove another. Availability also depends on your Galaxy model, region, carrier, and software version.
What does Samsung Audio Eraser actually remove?
Audio Eraser is a sound-source editor in Galaxy AI. It analyzes a video’s soundtrack, identifies broad sound types, and lets you lower or raise those types before exporting an edited copy. Samsung describes the controls as selective adjustment of each detected sound type, rather than a promise to clean every recording perfectly.

The system is category-based. It does not expose a waveform editor, a frequency-by-frequency de-reverberation control, or a documented speaker-diarization mode. A sound must also be long and distinct enough for the model to recognize it; ambiguous sounds can be assigned to the wrong category.
Can Samsung Audio Eraser remove echo?
Not as a guaranteed, dedicated function. Samsung’s documented list includes voices, music, wind, and noise labels such as crowd or nature, but it does not list echo or reverberation as a separate control. If room reflections are interpreted as general noise, reducing that category may make the recording seem less echoey, but the result depends on the recording conditions.

Why echo is difficult for a category-based editor
Echo is a delayed copy of the original voice mixed into the same signal. In a reflective room, the delay may overlap the next syllable, so the phone has to distinguish speech from its own reflections without damaging the direct voice. Audio Eraser’s controls are designed around detected sound sources, not a published acoustic model for measuring room decay or removing a specific delay.
What to try when a recording sounds echoey
- Open the clip in Gallery and enter the Audio Eraser controls.
- Tap Auto first, then listen to the result with the original comparison control.
- If a noise category appears, lower it gradually rather than moving every slider to zero; aggressive reduction can make speech sound thin or metallic.
- If the room reflection remains, keep the strongest natural-sounding setting and use a quieter recording location or a closer microphone for future clips. Samsung does not promise that Audio Eraser will remove the remaining reverberation.
Can it remove wind noise?
Yes, when Audio Eraser detects the wind. Wind is one of Samsung’s explicit sound categories, so it can be reduced or enhanced with a slider. Detection is not guaranteed: a brief gust, wind mixed with speech, or a heavily distorted microphone signal may produce a weak or inaccurate result.
How to reduce wind without damaging speech
- Start with Auto so the model can estimate the unwanted level.
- Use Hear original to switch between the source and the processed sound while adjusting the wind slider.
- Lower wind in small increments. Wind and low-pitched speech can overlap, so maximum reduction may also remove voice body.
- Apply the edit only after checking the loudest gust and the quietest spoken section.
For future recordings, a physical windscreen, sheltering the microphone from direct airflow, and moving closer to the speaker usually prevent more damage than software can repair. Audio Eraser can work on the recorded track; it cannot recreate speech that wind distortion has already masked.

No individual-speaker separation is documented. Audio Eraser can process the detected voice category, including relatively clear voices around the camera, but Samsung does not claim that it can identify speaker A and speaker B, remove one person while preserving another, or create separate tracks for each participant.

What happens in a group recording
The voice control acts on the detected voice group. Raising it may make several people more prominent; lowering it may reduce several people together. If one person is speaking over another, the model has no documented “keep this speaker” selection, and changing the voice level can affect both voices and nearby sounds.
When the result may still be useful
- A presentation with clear speech and steady background noise may become easier to understand.
- A crowd clip may benefit from lowering crowd or general-noise categories while leaving the voice group intact.
- An interview recorded with two nearby speakers can sometimes sound cleaner, but this is enhancement of the detected category, not a guaranteed transcript-ready isolation of either person.
For true speaker separation, you would need a tool that explicitly advertises diarization or source separation. Samsung’s Audio Eraser documentation does not make that claim, so treat any apparent separation as a side effect of the sound mix rather than a reliable mode.
How do I use Audio Eraser in Samsung Gallery?
The standard Gallery workflow edits a copy, allowing you to compare the processed sound before committing the export.

- Open Gallery and select the video.
- Tap Edit (the pencil icon).
- Tap Audio, then choose Audio eraser.
- Select Auto for automatic reduction, or adjust the categories that appear with their sliders. Depending on the clip, you may see voices, music, wind, crowd, nature, or noise.
- Tap Hear original to compare the source with the current settings. Check speech, music, and the loudest background event rather than judging only the first few seconds.
- Tap Apply edits, then Save copy. The edited video is exported as a separate file, so you can retain the original for another attempt.
The exact buttons can vary with One UI version and the app in which the recording is opened. Samsung also documents Audio Eraser controls in Video Player, Voice Recorder, Samsung Notes, and recorded calls on supported devices; an option may be absent in one app even when it appears in another.

Does Audio Eraser work on my Galaxy phone or tablet?
Only selected Galaxy devices have it. Samsung’s US support guidance places Audio Eraser on select phones and tablets running Android 14 with One UI 6.1 or later. Other Samsung guidance narrows support to selected S and Z models and notes that model, region, carrier, and software affect availability.

How to verify support before you record
- Install the latest available software update for your model and region.
- Open a short test video in Gallery and check whether Edit > Audio > Audio eraser appears.
- If the control is missing, check another supported Samsung app and confirm that you are signed in to the required Samsung account.
- Do not assume that a feature shown in a US support page is enabled on every international or carrier variant.
Why does Audio Eraser produce different results from one clip to another?
Samsung warns that accuracy is not guaranteed. The model evaluates how sounds occur in the particular video, so microphone placement, volume, overlap, duration, and room acoustics all affect which categories appear and how much can be reduced.
Common detection limits
- Short events: A very brief sound may not be detected at all.
- Ambiguous sounds: A sound can be labeled as the wrong category when it resembles another source.
- Overlapping sources: Speech, wind, music, and crowd noise sharing the same frequencies are harder to adjust independently.
- Damaged recordings: Clipping or severe wind distortion cannot be fully reconstructed by moving a slider.
Use the original-comparison control throughout the edit. If a setting removes consonants, introduces pumping, or makes music unnatural, reduce the strength and save another copy rather than overwriting your source.

What can Audio Eraser do in real time?
Most Gallery editing is a saved-video workflow: you change the categories, apply the edit, and export a copy. Samsung’s 2026 announcement for the Galaxy S26 series describes expanded real-time sound separation and optimization across voices, music, and background noise, but that does not mean every Galaxy model or every app offers live processing. Real-time behavior is therefore model-, software-, and app-dependent.

For a specific phone, rely on the controls actually shown on that device rather than assuming that a feature demonstrated for a newer series is available on an older one.

- Confirm the phone or tablet is a supported model rather than a device that merely has Galaxy AI branding.
- Check that Android 14 and One UI 6.1 or later are installed where Samsung lists those requirements.
- Install pending Galaxy Store or system updates, then restart the device.
- Test the feature in Gallery with a locally stored video; app-specific restrictions can hide it elsewhere.
- Check regional or carrier limitations and sign in to a Samsung account if prompted.
If the control still does not appear, the feature may not be enabled for that model, market, or software build. Samsung’s support material does not provide a universal workaround for unsupported configurations.
Is Samsung Audio Eraser suitable for professional cleanup?
It is useful for quick, on-device improvement of common recordings, especially when wind or broad background noise is the main problem. It is not a substitute for a dedicated restoration workflow when you need measured reverberation removal, isolated speakers, multitrack editing, or a documented accuracy guarantee.

Samsung notes that short sounds may not be detected, so an event lasting only a moment can pass through unchanged. Try a clip in which the sound lasts longer, but do not expect the editor to recover every brief transient.

Samsung documents Audio Eraser controls for recorded calls on supported devices. Whether the control appears depends on the phone, software build, region, and the app used to store the call.
Does Samsung publish an Audio Eraser accuracy percentage?
