Yes. The Metrolist Android client supports downloading and caching music for offline listening, so you need to cache content before you lose your connection. Its official documentation lists YouTube Music account login for syncing your songs, artists, albums, and playlists, but does not say that an account is mandatory for basic playback or offline caching. That means offline support is documented; login-free downloading is not explicitly confirmed.
Which Metrolist app does this answer cover?
This article is about the open-source Android YouTube Music client maintained by MetrolistGroup, available through the official GitHub repository and the Metrolist project website. The name is also used by unrelated Android apps, including apps focused on local music files. Their download, account, and offline features may work differently, so check the app’s publisher and description before relying on advice about Metrolist.
The project describes itself as a YouTube Music client for Android. Its listed features include “Download & cache for offline use,” and the project site describes caching songs and playlists for offline listening. These statements support offline playback after caching; they do not establish that every item in YouTube Music is available to cache.

Metrolist’s stated offline feature works by downloading and caching content in advance. You should therefore plan to make the content available while you still have a connection, rather than expecting the app to fetch a song once your device is offline.

- While connected, open the Metrolist YouTube Music client. The project documents it as an Android app. It does not specify a minimum Android version in the cited material.
- Choose the songs or playlists you want available offline. The project advertises caching for songs and playlists. The cited documentation does not provide a complete list of eligible content.
- Use the app’s download or cache control and let the content finish caching. The feature is documented, but the sources do not specify a precise screen path, button label, or completion indicator. Follow the controls shown in the version you have installed.
- Check availability before you leave a reliable connection. The documentation does not describe a guaranteed offline test or a cache-expiration period. Confirming that the selected content is available in the app before a trip is a practical precaution, not a guarantee about how long it will remain cached.
Cached listening and streaming are different situations: caching is the preparation step; offline playback relies on content already stored by the app. The official materials do not publish a cache-size quota, expiration schedule, or guarantee that a particular track will remain available indefinitely.
Does Metrolist require a YouTube account?
The official documentation does not state that signing in is required for basic playback or offline caching. It does explicitly list YouTube Music account login as a way to synchronize songs, artists, albums, and playlists. The careful conclusion is that an account is documented for library syncing, while a universal sign-in requirement for offline use is not established.
That distinction matters if you want to use Metrolist without logging in. The published feature list does not say that login-free caching is supported, but it also does not say that it is blocked. If you are deciding whether to install the app specifically for use without an account, treat that point as unconfirmed rather than assuming either outcome.

What signing in is documented to do
The project site says Metrolist supports account login to sync a user’s playlists and library. The repository’s listed synchronization scope includes songs, artists, albums, and playlists. This is a documented account-linked function, distinct from the separate offline-cache feature.
What the documentation does not settle
The cited official descriptions do not spell out whether an account is needed to browse, start basic playback, or cache a particular item. They also do not give a sign-in-free setup procedure. Avoid treating the presence of an account-login feature as proof that every user must sign in, or treating the absence of an explicit requirement as proof that every feature works without an account.
Will Metrolist work in your region?
Regional availability can be a prerequisite. The repository warns that if YouTube Music is unavailable in your region, Metrolist will not work there without a VPN or proxy connecting to a supported region. This is a project warning about service availability, not a promise that a VPN or proxy will work in every case.

Check whether YouTube Music is available where you intend to use the app. Offline caching does not remove this initial availability issue: the content has to be obtained and cached beforehand. The documentation does not establish that caching bypasses regional restrictions or resolves account and content availability limits.

1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsWhat should you expect from the project today?
The GitHub repository currently describes Metrolist as being in maintenance mode, with bug fixes and minor improvements planned. That signals the project’s stated development posture; it is not a guarantee of a specific release schedule, continued compatibility, or support for every device and YouTube Music change.
The published information also leaves several practical details open: it does not state a minimum Android version, a numeric cache limit, how long cached content persists, or whether every item can be downloaded. If any of these details is essential to your decision, verify it in the current app or project materials rather than relying on an assumption.

What is the practical answer for someone who wants offline music?
Metrolist is a reasonable candidate if you want an Android YouTube Music client with an advertised cache feature and you can prepare music while connected. If account-free use is a requirement, the available official descriptions are not specific enough to promise that you can browse, play, or cache content without signing in. If library synchronization matters, account login is the function the project explicitly documents.
- Offline support: documented for songs and playlists after caching.
- Account login: documented for synchronizing the YouTube Music library and playlists.
- Mandatory sign-in for offline caching: not explicitly stated by the official documentation.
- Regional availability: YouTube Music must be available in your region, or the project says a VPN or proxy to a supported region is needed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Metrolist say how much storage offline music uses?
The official materials cited here do not give a storage-per-song estimate or a total cache quota. Actual space use therefore cannot be calculated from the project’s published offline-feature description alone.
Will Metrolist keep cached music forever?
The cited documentation does not state a cache-expiration period or promise permanent retention. Do not treat a cached copy as a permanent archive; keep another source for music you cannot afford to lose.
Does Metrolist guarantee that every YouTube Music song can be downloaded?
No such guarantee appears in the project descriptions cited here. They advertise caching songs and playlists but do not specify universal availability or enumerate content exceptions.
Is Metrolist still actively adding major features?
The repository says the project is in maintenance mode, with bug fixes and minor improvements planned. That describes its stated direction, not a promise about timing or the compatibility of future versions.
