You can use a Google Workspace email account with a YouTube channel that livestreams. For a regular YouTube broadcast, eligibility depends on the YouTube channel: it must be verified and have had no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Streaming a Google Meet meeting directly to YouTube is a separate feature with Workspace-plan, administrator, channel-linking, and meeting-role requirements.
Choose the livestream you mean
There are three different workflows that can sound like “livestreaming with Workspace.” The destination determines which requirements apply.
| What you want to do | Destination | Main requirements |
|---|---|---|
| Start a broadcast through YouTube | Your YouTube channel | A verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. YouTube says creators must be at least 16 to livestream. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance. |
| Stream a Google Meet meeting to YouTube | A YouTube channel | An eligible Workspace plan or subscription, a linked and approved YouTube channel, and any required administrator setting. Meeting roles can affect who may start the stream. See Google Meet’s YouTube live-streaming guidance. |
| Livestream a Meet meeting internally | Viewers in your organization and, if configured, trusted Workspace domains | Separate Meet edition, administrator, and participant requirements. This is not a public YouTube broadcast. See Google’s guidance for live streaming in Meet. |
Livestream directly from a Workspace-associated YouTube channel
A Workspace email address is not, by itself, a barrier to going live on YouTube. Use the channel’s YouTube live controls and check the channel’s eligibility. YouTube’s stated requirements include channel verification and no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. The method you choose—mobile, webcam, or encoder—does not replace those eligibility requirements; a webcam or encoder is optional production equipment.
- Open the YouTube channel you intend to broadcast from. Confirm that you have access to that channel, rather than assuming that signing in with a work email automatically selects the right channel.
- Check eligibility. Verify the channel and confirm it has no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. YouTube says creators must be at least 16 to livestream.
- Choose a YouTube streaming method. YouTube lists mobile, webcam, and encoder methods. Follow the setup shown for your chosen method in YouTube’s live-streaming help.

Check plan and administrator access
Google documents Meet-to-YouTube streaming for Enterprise Starter, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Education Plus, Teaching and Learning Upgrade, Workspace Individual subscribers, and Google One subscribers with at least 2 TB of storage. For a company Workspace account, the organization’s administrator must enable the feature. Plan availability and administrator settings can change, so confirm them with your administrator and Google’s current Meet help.

Approve and connect the YouTube channel
The YouTube channel must be approved for live streaming and connected to the meeting. Google says approval can take up to 24 hours. Use the same email to join Meet that you use for the YouTube channel, and make sure the account can use that channel.
Start the stream from a computer
- Join the Meet meeting on a computer. Google says a mobile device cannot start this Meet-to-YouTube stream.
- Open Meeting tools, choose Live streaming, then select Stream with YouTube.
- Select a channel, then create or select a YouTube event and follow the prompts to start streaming.
Check who is allowed to start it
Only people who can use the linked YouTube channel can start its stream. If host management is off, anyone in the host’s organization may be able to start it. If host management is on, only hosts and co-hosts may start it. Google’s stated tip is to make the intended operator a co-host when needed. Confirm the meeting’s host-management setting and the operator’s channel access before the event.

Keep a Meet stream inside the organization
An internal Meet livestream is a different feature from streaming to YouTube. Google lists supported editions including Business Continuity, Business Continuity Plus, Enterprise Essentials Plus, Enterprise Starter, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Education Plus, and Teaching and Learning Upgrade; education use can have license conditions. Only participants in the organization can control the stream, while view-only guests can watch. Check Google’s Meet administrator guidance for applicable edition and configuration rules.
Resolve common access problems
- YouTube’s live option is unavailable: Check that the intended channel is verified and has no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Workspace status does not override channel eligibility.
- Meet does not offer “Stream with YouTube”: Confirm the Workspace plan or subscription supports the feature and ask the administrator whether it is enabled. Also confirm that the channel is approved and connected.
- The operator cannot start the Meet stream: Confirm that the operator can use the linked YouTube channel. If host management is on, ensure the operator is a host or co-host.
- You are trying from a phone: Google says Meet-to-YouTube streaming cannot be started on mobile; join on a computer.
- You want an internal audience, not a YouTube broadcast: Set up Meet’s internal livestream feature instead, then check its edition, administrator, and participant requirements.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep uploaded videos looping as a YouTube livestream, rather than stream a live Meet meeting, StreamNeo is a separate cloud option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it streams your uploads at their original quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, and it can recover automatically if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. It plays uploaded videos and streams to YouTube only. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
