For steadier aim and more consistent frame rates, separate the problem into two parts: tune graphics for your PC’s performance, then adjust input settings to suit your mouse or controller. There is no universally best sensitivity, deadzone, or graphics preset. This guide focuses on the PC features documented for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and treats Warzone separately, since it has its own system requirements. Console menus and options can differ; check what your version actually offers rather than assuming a PC setting applies.
Which Call of Duty game and platform are these settings for?
The detailed PC guidance here is for Black Ops 7. Activision describes the game as configurable for visual fidelity or FPS and says its PC version includes an in-game benchmark. Warzone is a separate case: it has its own official PC requirements, so do not assume that a PC specification or troubleshooting recommendation for one title automatically applies to the other.
Input method matters too. Mouse sensitivity is not a controller deadzone, and a controller adjustment will not solve a graphics bottleneck. Console players should use the same careful approach—change one control or visual option at a time—but should not assume that a PC-specific setting or menu is present on console.
Activision’s November 2025 PC article says Black Ops 7 has more than 800 customization options across graphics, gameplay, input, interface and other areas. That is an options count, not evidence that any particular setting improves FPS or aim. The useful goal is a small, repeatable setup that fits your hardware and feels controllable.

How should I establish a baseline before changing settings?
Record what the game is doing now before making adjustments. That gives you a comparison point and helps distinguish a graphics change from an input change.
- Confirm the title and platform. Use the Black Ops 7 PC guidance only for that game on PC. For Warzone, consult its own requirements and support guidance.
- Note the display conditions. Write down your current resolution and monitor refresh rate, along with the graphics and input options you plan to change. A frame-rate reading is only useful when you know the conditions under which it was produced.
- Run the built-in PC benchmark, if available. Activision confirms that Black Ops 7 includes a PC benchmark. Use its result as a baseline for your own system rather than treating another player’s result or a published specification tier as a promise for your matches.
- Choose a repeatable aim check. Use the Training Course or Firing Range to compare movement and weapon handling. Activision’s COD 101 guide says: “Use the Training Course and Firing Range to test movement, different weapons, and weapon settings.” Read the official guide.
- Change one small group of settings at a time. Compare the same kind of movement or firing before and after each change. If you alter graphics and sensitivity together, it becomes harder to tell which change affected performance or feel.
Keep separate notes for graphics and aim. Graphics settings affect rendering and image quality; sensitivity and other input choices affect control feel. A smoother-looking image is not proof that aim control improved, and a comfortable sensitivity does not establish that the PC can render more frames.
How do I make aim feel smoother?
Use the Firing Range or Training Course to find a setting you can control consistently, rather than copying a number from another player. The official sources cited here do not establish a universal best sensitivity, deadzone, aim-response curve, or field-of-view value for every player, input device, and mode.

Test look control and any available deadzone choices against two competing problems: unwanted stick movement when you are not touching the controller, and sluggish movement when you first move the stick. A lower deadzone may make initial movement more responsive, but if your stick drifts, that responsiveness can come with unwanted movement. A larger deadzone can reduce that effect but may make small corrections feel less immediate. Treat those as symptoms to observe, not as a formula for a specific number.
Make one adjustment, then repeat the same turning and aiming exercise. Check whether your crosshair remains still when the stick is untouched, whether small corrections are manageable, and whether larger turns still feel controllable. If a change solves one problem but makes another worse, return to the previous setting and try a smaller adjustment if the game allows it.
If you play with a mouse
Change sensitivity in controlled increments and repeat the same aiming and turning exercise after each change. The target is a setting that lets you make both deliberate small corrections and larger turns without repeatedly overshooting. The result depends on the player’s control habits and setup, so neither a particular sensitivity nor a mouse DPI value is established here as best.

Activision’s PC article mentions sub-frame mouse polling, but does not prescribe a specific mouse or DPI. That feature is not a reason to buy a particular device or to assume that polling alone will correct inconsistent aim. First establish a repeatable baseline with the equipment you already have.

Separate weapon feel from input feel
A weapon can feel different after a game update even when your sensitivity has not changed. Treyarch’s October 2026 Season 06 notes include view-kick and recoil changes. When a particular weapon suddenly feels harder to control, check current patch notes before treating the difference as proof that you need to change your aim settings.
Which graphics settings should I change for more consistent FPS?
Start with the benchmark and your current resolution, then adjust graphics to find an acceptable balance between steady performance and image clarity. Activision does not designate one graphics preset as best for every PC, and a published system tier is not a guarantee of performance in a specific match.
- Keep a baseline. Note your current benchmark result, resolution, refresh rate, and graphics options. If performance varies between comparisons, the result is harder to interpret.
- Decide what you are trying to improve. If your main concern is inconsistent frame rate, prioritize checking the result of graphics changes. If targets are difficult to see, judge image clarity and visibility as well as the FPS reading.
- Make a limited change. Adjust a small group of visual settings, then run the benchmark again. Avoid changing aim controls at the same time.
- Compare both outcomes. Keep a change only if the performance result is useful and the image remains clear enough for you. A higher counter alone does not show whether the overall result suits your play.
- Repeat only when needed. If the change does not help, restore the earlier option and try a different adjustment. This makes it easier to identify which choice created a trade-off.
The benchmark is a comparison tool for your PC, not a promise that a match will hold the same frame rate. Likewise, the official recommended and competitive tiers describe hardware categories, not results measured on your particular setup.
Should I use upscaling or frame generation?
Black Ops 7’s official PC article confirms FSR 4, other upscaling options, frame-generation options, and the built-in benchmark. The available evidence does not establish that one mode always produces the best result, so compare performance and legibility on your own system.
Recommended Free Tools
Upscaling and frame generation are not interchangeable labels for a guaranteed improvement. When comparing options, look at the image as well as the FPS reading: fine details and target visibility matter alongside apparent smoothness. Use the same resolution and benchmark conditions for each comparison where possible, and keep a record of which option produced each result.

Frame generation can affect how smooth motion appears, but a displayed frame-rate figure by itself does not establish input responsiveness. No latency measurements are available here to quantify that trade-off. If your priority is aim feel, judge control in the same repeatable exercise rather than assuming a higher displayed FPS means faster-feeling input.
How can I improve target visibility without confusing it with FPS?
Visibility deserves its own check. An image can be easier or harder to read without that change proving anything about frame rate or aim assistance. Black Ops 7 offers crosshair customization and a high-contrast mode, according to Activision’s accessibility article.
Try a crosshair change in the Training Course or Firing Range and check whether it is easier to locate against the environments you play in. Evaluate high-contrast options for readability, not as a performance boost. Optional motion-control anchors are described as comfort features that leave gameplay unchanged; they should not be treated as an FPS or aim-assist advantage. See Activision’s accessibility settings overview.

Settings cannot replace a system that does not meet the game’s requirements. Activision’s support page lists the following figures for its desktop tiers. They are publisher specifications, not independently measured guarantees for a particular computer or match.
| Official tier or requirement | Published figure | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| Recommended desktop tier | 12 GB RAM; NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060; high settings and 60 FPS in most situations | Activision describes this as a recommended tier and performance expectation, not a guaranteed floor for every system. |
| Competitive desktop tier | 16 GB RAM; 12 GB VRAM; NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 | Activision describes this tier as addressing high FPS with a high-refresh monitor; it is not a measured result for an individual player. |
| Storage at launch | 116 GB available on an SSD | Activision’s 2026 support page warns that mandatory updates may require additional space. |
These figures are from Activision Support’s PC system requirements page. The VRAM figure has a dated discrepancy: the later support page lists 12 GB for the competitive tier, while Activision’s November 2025 launch article listed 16 GB VRAM. Use the later support page as the current official specification, but be aware that the two official publications do not agree.
Activision’s November 2025 PC article also discusses high-refresh displays and PC customization, but a monitor cannot make a computer render frames it cannot produce. If your system cannot sustain a high frame rate, a high-refresh display alone does not remove that limitation. Conversely, the monitor’s refresh rate is relevant context when comparing the frame rate your PC produces with what the display can show.

For Warzone, use its own official requirements page rather than applying the Black Ops 7 figures. A separate requirements page is available at Activision Support. The Black Ops 7 figures above should not be presented as Warzone requirements.
Why is Warzone stuttering even on low settings?
Low graphics settings do not establish that a PC meets Warzone’s requirements or that an unrelated software issue is absent. Start with the game-specific requirements and Activision’s troubleshooting guidance rather than assuming that lowering more settings will solve every stutter.
- Check the requirements for Warzone itself. Do not substitute the Black Ops 7 PC specification tier.
- Check the game files. Activision support recommends verifying or repairing files where appropriate.
- Check for interfering applications. Activision also recommends checking whether applications are interfering with the game.
- Review current driver guidance. Driver recommendations can change, so consult the live support page before installing a version based on an older article or list.
Those are troubleshooting checks, not a promise that any one will resolve every cause of stuttering. Do not disable security features required by the game in an attempt to improve FPS, and do not treat a paid optimizer as an established remedy.
Which graphics drivers does Activision recommend for Black Ops 7?
Activision’s March 2026 support page lists driver versions for players experiencing graphical issues. These are recommendations published on that page, not a claim that they are the newest available drivers or that installing them will resolve every issue.
- AMD: 25.12.1
- NVIDIA desktop and notebook: 591.59
- NVIDIA workstation: 582.08
- Intel: 32.0.101.8531
Because driver guidance is volatile, check the current Activision support page for graphical issues before acting on those dated version numbers. The listed versions are specifically tied to graphical-issue guidance; they are not a general FPS preset.
Does dynamic resolution apply to the current Black Ops 7 menu?
Do not assume that an older Call of Duty menu description proves an option’s current label or availability. Activision’s 2021 article explains dynamic resolution in an earlier Warzone and Modern Warfare context, where resolution adjusted at runtime toward an FPS target. That historical explanation does not verify the exact option in the current Black Ops 7 build. Check the live menu for your game version rather than following an outdated menu path.

What is a practical settings workflow?
Use the following order so that each adjustment has a clear purpose and a result you can compare.
- Identify the game and input method. Separate Black Ops 7 PC advice from Warzone requirements, and separate mouse adjustments from controller adjustments.
- Check eligibility first. Confirm that the relevant PC meets the game’s current requirements and has the required SSD storage. For Warzone, use its dedicated requirements page.
- Record your current state. Note resolution, refresh rate, graphics options, benchmark result, and the input setting you intend to change.
- Address rendering before aim. For PC graphics, use the Black Ops 7 benchmark to compare changes. Keep image clarity in the decision, not just the FPS number.
- Address input separately. Use the Training Course or Firing Range to evaluate one sensitivity or deadzone adjustment at a time.
- Check visibility independently. Try crosshair customization or high contrast for readability, without interpreting those changes as an FPS boost.
- Recheck after updates. Patch notes can change weapon behavior, and support pages can update driver or requirement guidance. Reassess a setting when the game changes rather than assuming an old result still applies.
This is a way to make your own comparisons, not a claim that a particular preset has been tested or measured here. The supplied official sources do not provide universal input numbers or performance results for every machine.
When should I consider hardware instead of another settings change?
First use the free checks: confirm game requirements, compare the benchmark, inspect clarity and frame-rate consistency, and follow the game’s official support steps. Hardware is a separate decision when the PC does not meet the relevant requirements or cannot deliver the performance you want after reasonable settings changes.

The official Black Ops 7 tiers name the RTX 3060 in the recommended desktop tier and the RTX 5070 in the competitive tier. Those are examples in Activision’s specifications, not buying recommendations or guarantees that a specific upgrade will improve every player’s FPS. An SSD is a stated requirement, while a high-refresh monitor is most relevant to a system capable of producing high frame rates. A mouse or controller is an optional input-device choice; the available evidence does not establish that purchasing one improves aim.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a higher FOV make Call of Duty aim better?
The official material cited here does not establish a best field-of-view value or prove that a higher setting improves aim. If your version offers the option, evaluate what you can see and how movement feels in a repeatable practice area rather than relying on a universal number.
Can I copy my Black Ops 7 settings into Warzone?
Some preferences may be transferable, but the sources here do not establish that menus, options, or optimal values match between the games. In particular, check Warzone’s own system requirements and confirm each option exists in the version you are playing.
Will a high-refresh monitor increase my FPS?
A monitor’s refresh rate does not make the PC render more frames. It can be useful when the system can produce a high frame rate, but the PC’s rendering capability remains a separate constraint.
What does sub-frame mouse polling mean in Black Ops 7?
Activision’s PC article mentions sub-frame mouse polling but does not prescribe a particular mouse, DPI, or polling setting. The mention alone does not show that changing hardware or polling will fix aim or input responsiveness.
