Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4’s first downloadable content is available now. The day-one C.O.D.E. Valor Pack, released with the game on October 23, 2026, adds retired U.S. Marine corporal and Medal of Honor recipient Kyle Carpenter as a playable operator. Activision says 100% of its net proceeds from the pack support the Call of Duty Endowment, which helps veterans in the United States and United Kingdom find meaningful employment.
The pack is also tied to Carpenter’s real combat experience. During a Taliban attack in Afghanistan in 2010, he threw himself in front of a grenade to protect another Marine, suffering life-changing injuries. The game add-on turns that story into a character and cosmetic set while directing proceeds toward veteran employment.
Is Modern Warfare 4’s first DLC out now?
Yes. The C.O.D.E. Valor Pack launched on October 23, 2026, the same day Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 became available globally. It is an optional add-on rather than a replacement for the main game, and Kyle Carpenter is unlocked through the pack.

Who is Kyle Carpenter?
Kyle Carpenter served with 2nd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, and deployed to Marjah in Afghanistan’s Helmand Province in July 2010. On November 21, 2010, a Taliban attack placed him and fellow Marine Nick Eufrazio in immediate danger. Carpenter moved in front of an enemy grenade to shield Eufrazio.
The U.S. Army records severe injuries to Carpenter’s face and right arm. Its account says he regained consciousness after roughly five or six weeks and spent nearly three years in and out of hospitals undergoing reconstructive procedures. GameSpot’s launch report adds that he lost an eye and most of his teeth and underwent about 40 surgeries; those details come from that report rather than the Army account.
Carpenter later received the Medal of Honor. In a 2015 U.S. Army account, he described his recovery philosophy as: “Set big goals. Come back stronger, mentally and physically.” He also completed a 26.2-mile marathon in 5 hours 12 minutes, according to the Army.

How much does the Valor Pack cost?
GameSpot reported a standard bundle price of $20. That should be treated as a reported price, not a guaranteed amount for every player or country. Activision’s materials also describe eligibility-based offers, and digital-store pricing, taxes, currencies and promotions can vary by region and account.
Modern Warfare 4 is a separate game purchase. Buying the base game does not automatically unlock Kyle Carpenter; the operator is tied to the C.O.D.E. Valor Pack when that offer is available to your account.
Does the DLC support veterans?
Activision says 100% of its net proceeds from the pack go to the Call of Duty Endowment. The organization funds programs that help veterans in the United States and United Kingdom secure meaningful employment after military service.

“I am honored to support the Call of Duty Endowment mission in helping veterans find meaningful and purposeful jobs, but also to help show the world the value that veterans bring to the workforce,” Carpenter said. He has also said, “My legacy isn’t defined by a single moment,” and described resilience as a choice rather than a consequence of his injury.
Because the pledge refers to net proceeds, it is not the same as saying the full retail price of every purchase is donated. The final contribution can depend on deductions recognized in the proceeds calculation, as well as regional offer terms.
Which platforms support Modern Warfare 4 and the pack?
The underlying game is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2. The Valor Pack is designed for those game platforms, but storefront availability and account eligibility can differ. Check the in-game store or your platform’s listing for the exact offer shown in your region before buying.
Why the Carpenter operator matters beyond a cosmetic bundle
The pack connects a playable character to a documented act of battlefield sacrifice and a post-service employment mission. Carpenter’s injuries were real, and the recovery involved years of medical treatment; describing them accurately matters because the operator is based on a living person rather than a fictional backstory.

Carpenter’s own statements also frame the collaboration around veterans’ future careers, not only the 2010 incident. That makes the charity component distinct from a conventional character skin: the stated goal is to direct net proceeds toward job support while presenting a veteran’s service and recovery to the game’s audience.
