The released Blade Runner games, in release order, are Blade Runner (1985), Blade Runner (1997), and Blade Runner: Revelations (2018). The 2022 Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition is a restoration of the 1997 adventure, not a separate story entry. Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth is listed as TBA, so it does not belong in the released-games order.

Blade Runner games in release order

Release year Game Format Original platform(s) documented How it fits
1985 Blade Runner Single-player shoot ’em up Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC A game loosely inspired by the 1982 film; it is not the later detective adventure.
1997 Blade Runner Point-and-click adventure Windows The Westwood Studios game most people mean when they refer to the classic Blade Runner PC game.
2018 Blade Runner: Revelations Virtual-reality game Google Daydream A separate VR entry in the franchise.

The 1985 and 1997 releases share a name but are different kinds of games. The earlier title is an 8-bit-computer shoot ’em up; the 1997 title is a detective-focused adventure. The release chronology and platform distinctions are documented in the franchise game chronology and the 1985 game reference.

Where Enhanced Edition fits

Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition arrived in 2022 as a restoration of the 1997 adventure, not a fourth original story game. Nintendo’s US store listing gives a June 23, 2022 release date for its Switch edition and describes video reconstruction, HD display, an enhanced KIA/clue interface, subtitles, gamepad support, and image filtering: Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition for Switch. Nightdive Studios producer Karlee Wetzel’s Xbox Wire announcement, published June 24, 2022, announced the return for PC and consoles and described 4K upscaling, 60 FPS, keyboard and gamepad support, and a new KIA clue interface: Xbox Wire’s 2022 announcement. The dates refer to different platform listing and announcement pages; 2022 is the appropriate year for the restoration’s release.

Nintendo’s description says the 1997 game’s real-time story structure can create a unique experience each playthrough and includes more than 70 motion-captured characters with AI and their own agendas. These are claims from Nintendo’s product listing, not independent testing results.

What about Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth?

Choosing which one to play

  • Want the classic detective adventure? Look for the 1997 Westwood game. The 2022 Enhanced Edition is its restoration, with official Nintendo information for Switch and Nightdive’s announcement covering PC and consoles.
  • Interested in the older 8-bit release? The 1985 game is a shoot ’em up for Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum, and Amstrad CPC, rather than a point-and-click adventure.
  • Looking for the VR entry? Revelations is the 2018 Google Daydream game. The documented platform does not establish its current availability or compatibility.

Current acquisition and playability are not established here for the 1985 computer releases or the Daydream VR title, so their original platforms should not be taken as evidence that they are readily available today.
