DJ Sona is the best Sona skin for players who value music and elaborate effects. Its three toggleable forms each add a model, ability particles, voice lines, and a distinct soundtrack, while Riot later overhauled its visual effects and added celebration effects for every passive aura. The trade-off is price: the maintained skin catalog lists DJ Sona at 3250 RP, far above the 1820 RP listed for PsyOps Sona and the 1350 RP tier that includes Arcade, Odyssey, Pentakill III: Lost Chapter, and Star Guardian.
There is no established gameplay advantage among these skins. Choose by the experience you want—music, visual effects, animation and theme—then confirm the current RP price and availability in your League of Legends client, because catalog listings are not a live regional store.
Which Sona skin is best overall?
DJ Sona is the standout when music and effects matter most. It is the only option in this comparison documented with three selectable forms and evolving, gameplay-responsive music, so its premium price buys a broader audio-visual package rather than a single alternate model.

| Premium visual theme below DJ Sona | PsyOps Sona | A higher-tier skin with its own documented theme and effects, without DJ Sona’s three-form music system. | 1820 RP |
| Themed cosmetics at the lowest listed price in this group | Arcade, Odyssey, Pentakill III: Lost Chapter or Star Guardian | Each is listed at 1350 RP. Pick among them by the theme and effect style you personally prefer. | 1350 RP |
That is a preference-based recommendation, not a competitive ranking. Sona’s abilities remain the gameplay system; the skins change presentation.

How do the Sona skins compare on price and release date?
The following values and dates come from the community-maintained Sona cosmetics catalog. RP prices are catalog values, not guaranteed current prices for every region or account, so use the in-client listing as the final check.
| Skin | Catalog-listed price | Catalog release date | Documented comparison point |
|---|---|---|---|
| DJ Sona | 3250 RP | 25 February 2015 | Three toggleable forms, individual soundtracks, reactive layered music, models, particles and voice lines; visual-effects overhaul documented by Riot. |
| PsyOps Sona | 1820 RP | 3 September 2020 | Premium-tier PsyOps theme and effects listed in the catalog. |
| Arcade Sona | 1350 RP | 31 August 2012 | Arcade theme; Riot’s Patch 12.2 notes record a complete overhaul. |
| Odyssey Sona | 1350 RP | 12 September 2018 | Odyssey theme and the cosmetic effects associated with that skin. |
| Pentakill III: Lost Chapter Sona | 1350 RP | 9 September 2021 | Pentakill III: Lost Chapter theme and its associated effects. |
| Star Guardian Sona | 1350 RP | 14 July 2022 | Star Guardian theme and its associated effects. |
The dates identify when each catalog entry was released; they do not promise that the skin is currently in the standard store. Availability can change, especially for entries marked Legacy or Rare and Limited.
What makes DJ Sona different from every other option?
DJ Sona is built around switching between three identities rather than selecting one fixed presentation. The catalog names the forms Kinetic, Concussive and Ethereal. Each form has its own model, ability particles, voice lines and soundtrack, giving you three related presentations in one purchase.
Three forms, not three separate skins
The forms are toggleable, so you can choose the presentation that suits a match without buying separate cosmetics. That matters for players who tire of one look quickly: the value is variety as well as the individual quality of any one form.
Music that responds to play
Its soundtrack is described as evolving and layered, reacting to gameplay and Sona’s abilities. This is a different kind of feature from a static login-screen song or a single ability sound: the audio system is intended to develop during the match as you play.

Riot’s visual-effects update
Riot’s Patch 12.2 notes explicitly state: DJ Sona Complete overhaul and additional special celebration effects for each passive aura
. The update is important when comparing an older release date with present-day presentation: the skin’s current visual effects are not necessarily the same as those it launched with.
Who gets value from 3250 RP?
DJ Sona makes sense when you will regularly use Sona and care about the soundtrack, form switching and distinctive aura presentation. If you mainly want a new color palette or a themed model and do not care about in-match music, the 1350 RP choices leave substantially more RP available for other cosmetics. The higher price is therefore paying for a wider feature set, not a stronger champion.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Is PsyOps Sona worth its 1820 RP listing?
PsyOps Sona is the middle-ground choice for someone who wants a premium-priced theme and effects but does not need DJ Sona’s music system. The catalog lists it at 1820 RP, released on 3 September 2020, placing it above the four 1350 RP alternatives and below DJ Sona.
The available evidence establishes its PsyOps theme and effects, but it does not provide a measured effects score or a complete feature-by-feature specification that would justify calling it objectively better than another skin. Treat it as a style decision: inspect the ability particles and animations in your client, then decide whether that presentation is worth the 470 RP premium over the 1350 RP tier.
PsyOps is the sensible shortlist candidate when your priority is a distinct visual identity and you want to spend less than DJ Sona. It is not a substitute for DJ Sona’s evolving soundtrack, because that three-form audio feature is specific to DJ Sona in this comparison.

Which 1350 RP Sona skin should you choose?
Arcade, Odyssey, Pentakill III: Lost Chapter and Star Guardian occupy the same catalog-listed price tier. Since the evidence does not establish a universal effects ranking among them, choose the fictional universe and visual tone you are most likely to keep using.
Arcade Sona
Arcade Sona is the game-themed option in this group and is catalog-listed at 1350 RP, with a 31 August 2012 release date. Riot’s Patch 12.2 notes record a complete overhaul for Arcade Sona, so its current presentation reflects that update rather than only its original 2012 implementation. It is a strong value pick if you want the lower price tier and specifically like the Arcade identity.
Odyssey Sona
Odyssey Sona is listed at 1350 RP and dated 12 September 2018 in the catalog. Its appeal is the Odyssey setting and the effects tied to that theme. Select it when that science-fiction presentation is more attractive to you than the other 1350 RP choices; the available material does not support claiming a gameplay or measurable effects advantage.
Pentakill III: Lost Chapter Sona
Pentakill III: Lost Chapter Sona is also listed at 1350 RP, with a 9 September 2021 catalog release date. The name identifies its musical metal setting, making it a natural thematic choice for players who want a band-oriented Sona without paying DJ Sona’s premium. The listing establishes the theme and effects category, not a quantified audio comparison with DJ Sona.
Star Guardian Sona
Star Guardian Sona carries the same 1350 RP listing and a 14 July 2022 catalog release date. It belongs to the Star Guardian setting, so the deciding factor is whether that look and effect style fit your collection. Its lower listed price makes it the budget-friendly way to buy a clearly themed Sona skin.

What did Riot change in Patch 12.2?
Patch 12.2 is useful context for evaluating effects today. Riot’s notes identify a complete overhaul for DJ Sona and additional special celebration effects for each passive aura. The same notes also identify a complete overhaul for Arcade Sona; other skins in the update received smaller changes or used the updated base presentation.
This means release age alone is a poor proxy for visual quality. Arcade launched in 2012, yet Riot later overhauled it. Conversely, a newer release date does not automatically prove that a skin has more effects than an older one. Use the live preview and the current patch presentation when making a purchase decision.
How should you compare music, effects and theme before buying?
Use the same checklist for every candidate so a dramatic splash image does not make the decision for you.
- Music: Decide whether you want a full in-match soundtrack system or only the champion’s normal audio with a themed presentation. In this set, the documented evolving, layered soundtrack belongs to DJ Sona.
- Ability particles: Watch each basic ability and ultimate in the preview or a practice match. Look for readability at the scale and color you actually enjoy, not just the splash art.
- Passive-aura presentation: Sona’s auras are central to her identity. Check how the skin communicates them, including the celebration effects Riot added to DJ Sona.
- Animations and voice: DJ Sona’s forms include different voice lines and models. For the other skins, verify the specific animation and voice treatment shown by the client rather than assuming every 1350 RP skin has the same scope.
- Theme: Arcade, Odyssey, Pentakill III: Lost Chapter, Star Guardian and PsyOps signal different fictional settings. Choose the one you will still enjoy after the novelty of the purchase fades.
- Price and availability: Compare the current RP number in your client and confirm that the skin can be purchased on your account before treating a catalog value as actionable.
How can you verify the current price and availability?
Prices and store status are volatile. The catalog used for the comparison is maintained by the League of Legends community and is not a live regional account store; Riot’s champion page and patch notes are the authoritative references for champion context and documented updates, while your client determines what you can buy now.
- Open the League of Legends client and go to the champion or collection area where Sona’s skins are displayed.
- Select the skin you are considering and read the RP amount shown for your account and region.
- Use the preview to inspect the model, ability particles, aura presentation and animations. For DJ Sona, check the available form and soundtrack controls.
- Check whether the entry is currently purchasable. A catalog label such as Legacy or Rare and Limited is a reason to verify, not a guarantee of current store access.
- Only then compare the client price with the 1350 RP, 1820 RP or 3250 RP catalog reference in the tables above.
Do Sona skins provide any gameplay advantage?
No gameplay advantage is established by the cited material. Riot’s champion page describes Sona’s abilities, while the cosmetics catalog describes alternate models, particles, audio, animations and themes. Those presentation changes can affect personal readability or enjoyment, but they do not increase damage, range, healing or any other ability value.

- 【No Drill Mounted】Cable management tray can be assembled in as little as 3 minutes or less-simply. Side clips easily clampe the edge of desk, pass through the holes on the sides, and secure excess cables with baskets. Desk cable management supports inward or outward installation to meet your needs in different scenarios, and provides you with great convenience when collecting and organizing wires.
- 【Rubber Pad Protects Desk】Wire organizer under desk built-in soft rubber pads on the clamp protect your desk from scratches, so you will not damage your furniture or office.
- 【Sturdy and Beautiful】Cord management under desk is made of high-quality carbon steel and holds about 15 lbs. The wire basket has 2 holes on each side of the tray to enable your cables to pass freely. Cable baskets are suitable for desk thickness use from 0.4" to 2.4".
- 【Space Saving & Keep Organized】Desk cable management tray holds all your power cords, outlet strips, USB hubs and computer transformers hidden from your feet, and the data cables will not enter the vacuum cleaner to keep your desk clean and tidy. Desk wire organizer is also suitable for use in the kitchen and outdoors.
- 【Reduce Safety Risks】Cable tray under desk keeps all plugs away from your kids, no more worry about tripping. Using 2 holes wire tray saves extra space, helps you easily cabling and wire protection. The mesh design is not easy to accumulate dust, but avoids safety accidents caused by messy wires.
If you are choosing for ranked play, prioritize a skin whose effects you can read comfortably. That is a usability preference, not a change to the champion’s statistics or rules.
Which Sona skin is the best value at each budget?
| Budget or priority | Recommendation | Reasoning |
|---|---|---|
| Up to the listed 1350 RP tier | Choose among Arcade, Odyssey, Pentakill III: Lost Chapter and Star Guardian | All four are catalog-listed at 1350 RP; theme preference should decide because no objective winner is established. |
| Between 1350 and 3250 RP | PsyOps Sona | It is listed at 1820 RP and offers a premium PsyOps theme and effects without DJ Sona’s top-tier price. |
| Music is the main reason you play Sona | DJ Sona | Its three forms, distinct soundtracks, reactive layered music, voice lines, particles and updated aura celebrations make it the most feature-rich option documented here. |
| You want maximum variety in one purchase | DJ Sona | The toggleable Kinetic, Concussive and Ethereal forms provide three presentations rather than one fixed model. |
| You want a newer release date at 1350 RP | Star Guardian Sona | It has the latest catalog release date among the four 1350 RP examples, 14 July 2022; the date does not by itself establish superior effects. |
What is the final recommendation?
Buy DJ Sona if music, form switching and layered effects are the reason you want a skin; it is the clearest premium choice despite the 3250 RP catalog listing. Choose PsyOps Sona when you want a higher-tier visual theme at 1820 RP. For straightforward themed value, pick whichever of Arcade, Odyssey, Pentakill III: Lost Chapter or Star Guardian best matches your taste at the shared 1350 RP listing, then confirm the live regional price and availability in the client.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can teammates hear DJ Sona’s soundtrack automatically?
No. The catalog description says allies can opt in to listening through the scoreboard, so the music is not presented as an automatic audio stream for everyone in the match. Teammate access is therefore separate from your own choice of DJ Sona form.

No. A release date records when the skin was introduced, while store access can change later. A skin can be old, Legacy, or Rare and Limited, so check the live client entry for your account before planning a purchase.
Does Patch 12.2 mean every Sona skin received the same rework?
No. Riot’s notes specifically call out complete overhauls for DJ Sona and Arcade Sona. The notes describe smaller updates or use of the updated base for other skins, so you should not assume identical treatment across the catalog.
Which price should I trust if the table and my client disagree?
Use the client price for the account and region that will make the purchase. The table values are maintained catalog references, while regional pricing, availability and the current store state are not guaranteed to match them.
