How much CPU headroom do dense A-Life NPCs require?

Is 32GB of RAM enough for STALKER 2 with more NPCs visible?

Do I need an SSD, and how much space should it have?
Yes. GSC lists a 160GB SSD for every official tier. Install the game on an SSD rather than a hard disk, and leave free space for shader caches, Windows updates and future patches.
One hundred sixty gigabytes is the published game requirement, not a recommendation for the total capacity of your computer. A 1TB NVMe SSD is practical headroom for the operating system, STALKER 2, patches and other applications, but the available data does not identify 1TB as an official requirement. A second SSD can work if the game and its launcher have reliable access to it.

For a new build, pair the processor with a motherboard and power supply appropriate for its platform and graphics card. The official game requirements do not specify a wattage, cooler, motherboard chipset or operating-system edition, so those choices must follow the individual component manufacturers’ specifications.

- Shadows, effects and anti-aliasing: reduce these when the scene is GPU-limited but you want to retain object detail.
- Resolution or upscaler mode: use a lower internal resolution only after choosing a sensible quality preset.
If GPU utilization is low while frame time worsens around crowds or complex simulation, lowering resolution may change little. In that case, keep the official CPU class, close background applications and return A-Life distance to Default or Dynamic.

Should I upgrade the CPU, GPU or RAM first?
Upgrade the component that limits your target, not the component with the most impressive specification.
- Only 16GB RAM: move to 32GB dual-channel first for a High or Epic-oriented system, particularly if Windows and other applications remain open.
