The ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM Gen3 (PG32UCDM3) is the strongest all-around monitor for video editing in 2026 if you want a large 4K canvas, very wide color and OLED contrast. Its 31.5-inch 3840 × 2160 Tandem QD-OLED panel covers a specified 99% of DCI-P3 and is rated Delta E <2. The important qualification is OLED burn-in risk from fixed interface elements such as a timeline; ASUS lists OLED Care and a three-year warranty that includes panel burn-in, but you should confirm the exact terms for your country.
If your priority is a creator-focused IPS workflow with broad delivery-space coverage and Thunderbolt connectivity, the BenQ Creative Pro PD2732U is the better fit. It is a 27-inch 4K 60Hz display with specified 100% Rec.709, 99% Adobe RGB and 99% P3 coverage, average Delta E ≤2, a factory calibration report and Thunderbolt 4 with up to 90W power delivery. Neither model is automatically a reference monitor: your project’s color space, room lighting, calibration practice and tolerance for static UI exposure should decide the purchase.
Which monitor is best for video editing in 2026?
For most editors who can afford a premium display, choose the ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM Gen3. It combines a spacious 31.5-inch 4K workspace with OLED’s very deep blacks and a 99% DCI-P3 specification. Choose the BenQ PD2732U instead when Rec.709 accuracy, Adobe RGB coverage, Thunderbolt 4 and an IPS panel matter more than OLED contrast.
RTINGS’ October 23, 2026 roundup names the ASUS model its best video-editing monitor after a testing program that the publisher says has bought and tested more than 415 monitors. That is an independent recommendation, while the gamut, Delta E, connectivity and warranty figures below are manufacturer specifications and should be read as such.

How should you match a monitor to your video-delivery color space?
Start with the color space in which your finished video will be delivered, then evaluate coverage and accuracy in that space. A monitor with a larger gamut is not automatically more accurate for a Rec.709 project; it can simply display colors outside the project’s intended range.
Rec.709 for conventional SDR delivery
Rec.709 remains the practical target for many SDR television, web and general-purpose projects. The BenQ PD2732U’s specified 100% Rec.709 coverage makes its stated capability directly relevant to this work. Configure the editing application and monitor mode for Rec.709 rather than judging SDR footage in an unrestricted wide-gamut mode.
DCI-P3 and other wide-gamut workflows
DCI-P3 is wider than Rec.709 and is used in many modern cinema, streaming and display-oriented workflows. The ASUS PG32UCDM Gen3 is specified at 99% DCI-P3, while the BenQ is specified at 99% P3. Confirm which P3 definition your software and delivery specification use, because a percentage alone does not describe the transfer curve, white point or HDR behavior.
Adobe RGB for photo and mixed creative work
Adobe RGB is more relevant to still-image and print-oriented work than to every video timeline. BenQ lists 99% Adobe RGB on the PD2732U, which can be useful when the same display serves photography and video, but it should not replace a Rec.709 or P3 evaluation for a video-only project.

Does a factory Delta E rating prove a monitor is ready for grading?
No. A factory-reported Delta E value describes the manufacturer’s specified accuracy under its stated test conditions; it is not the same as an independently verified, maintained reference setup in your room.
ASUS specifies Delta E <2 for the PG32UCDM Gen3, and BenQ specifies average Delta E ≤2 plus a factory calibration report for the PD2732U. Those are useful indicators that the manufacturers target accurate color. They do not tell you how the display behaves after months of use, after a firmware change, in a different picture mode or under your room’s ambient light.
A practical calibration routine
- Set the monitor to the picture mode intended for the project, such as a Rec.709 or P3 mode, before measuring it.
- Disable unnecessary image enhancements, dynamic contrast and gaming effects that alter the signal being judged.
- Use a compatible hardware colorimeter or spectrophotometer and calibration software; no particular device has been validated for these models here, so confirm compatibility before buying.
- Save the resulting profile in the operating system and select the corresponding display transform in your color-managed applications.
- Recheck the display periodically and whenever the room, monitor mode or production standard changes.
Calibration helps maintain consistency, but it cannot turn a display with unsuitable gamut, contrast behavior or viewing conditions into a reference monitor.
Is the ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM Gen3 worth it for editing?
It is the best fit when you want one premium screen for editing, previewing wide-gamut material and general creative work. The 31.5-inch 4K canvas leaves more room for bins, scopes, timeline and viewer than a 27-inch panel, while OLED pixels can switch off for very deep blacks.
What you get
- 31.5-inch 3840 × 2160 resolution, giving a detailed 4K workspace.
- Tandem QD-OLED panel technology with a specified 99% DCI-P3 gamut.
- Manufacturer-rated Delta E <2.
- USB-C connectivity with up to 90W power delivery for a compatible laptop.
- OLED Care features intended to reduce panel-wear risk.
- ASUS lists a three-year warranty that includes panel burn-in; verify local exclusions, registration rules and service terms.
What an editor must manage
Editing software places static elements—track names, scopes, menus and a timeline—in the same locations for hours. That pattern is the specific long-term concern with OLED, not a reason to avoid OLED automatically. Use the monitor’s OLED-care functions, allow its compensation cycles to run, vary static layouts when practical and hide or dim interface panels during long unattended periods. Do not assume that a warranty transfer or burn-in remedy is identical in every region.
OLED’s contrast can make dark scenes easier to evaluate, but room lighting still matters. Reflections, uncontrolled ambient light and an overly bright display can lead you to make compensating changes that look wrong elsewhere. Judge the image at a consistent, moderate viewing environment rather than chasing the most dramatic showroom appearance.

Why choose the BenQ Creative Pro PD2732U instead?
The PD2732U is the more straightforward choice for a color-managed, creator-oriented IPS desk. It emphasizes gamut coverage, calibration information and one-cable workstation connectivity instead of OLED black levels or a high refresh-rate presentation.
Key specifications
- 27-inch 3840 × 2160 IPS panel.
- 100% Rec.709 coverage.
- 99% Adobe RGB coverage.
- 99% P3 coverage.
- Average Delta E ≤2 and a factory calibration report.
- Thunderbolt 4 connectivity with up to 90W power delivery.
- 60Hz refresh rate.
BenQ announced the PD2732U on July 6, 2026. Digital Camera World reports the same broad gamut claims in its recent review, while the numerical coverage and Delta E figures above come from BenQ’s specifications. A 60Hz IPS panel is entirely workable for normal editing and playback; it simply does not provide the motion feel or per-pixel black level of an OLED gaming-oriented display.
Thunderbolt 4 can simplify a laptop desk by carrying display, data and charging through one connection, but check your computer’s port capabilities, cable rating and dock topology. The advertised 90W is a maximum power-delivery figure, not a guarantee that every laptop will charge at its full rate while under load.
Should you consider a Mini LED monitor for video editing?
Mini LED is worth considering when you edit in a bright room or need more luminance than an OLED workflow comfortably provides. It uses many small backlight zones with local dimming, so it can produce stronger highlights and darker areas than a conventional edge-lit IPS panel.
RTINGS lists the LG 27GM950B-B as an upper-mid-range 5K Mini LED option and the Acer Nitro XV275K P5biipruzx as a brighter 4K Mini LED alternative. Those listings identify useful directions rather than establishing that either is the right purchase for every editor. Check each model’s measured gamut, accuracy, HDR behavior, inputs and current firmware before relying on it for a specific delivery standard.

The halo trade-off
Local dimming zones are larger than individual pixels. A bright title, subtitle or scope marker against a black background can therefore illuminate neighboring areas, creating a visible halo or blooming effect. The severity depends on zone count, algorithm tuning, viewing distance and the content itself. Mini LED may be preferable to OLED for sustained bright interfaces, but it is not free of image-quality compromises.
Is a budget 1440p monitor enough for video editing?
A 1440p display can be a sensible secondary screen or an entry point for editing, but it gives you less room for a full-resolution viewer, scopes and a complex timeline than 4K. RTINGS lists the KOORUI S2721PM as a budget option with a narrower productivity feature set than the 4K choices.
Use a budget monitor when your projects, computer and room do not justify a premium panel, and treat it as a compromise rather than a grading reference. Before buying, verify that your editing software can display the required scopes and that the monitor’s color mode can be profiled. For final color decisions, compare exports on other known displays and, when the project demands it, use a properly calibrated reference screen.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Do you need 4K or OLED for video editing?
You do not need OLED, but 4K is a sensible baseline for a current editing display when your computer and desk can support it. Resolution determines how much of a 4K image and interface you can see at once; it does not establish color accuracy, HDR quality or black-level reliability.

Choose OLED when deep blacks and contrast are central to your work and you can manage static-interface exposure. Choose IPS when predictable long-session operation, broad gamut specifications and a conventional backlight are more important. Choose Mini LED when brightness and HDR impact in a bright room outweigh the possibility of halos.
Which monitor features matter beyond the panel?
Connectivity and ergonomics affect every editing session, but they should be evaluated after color space and accuracy.
- USB-C or Thunderbolt: Confirm the standard, data capability and whether the advertised 90W charging is enough for your laptop. One-cable operation can reduce desk clutter.
- Hub ports: Check which devices the hub supports at the same time and whether ports remain available when the monitor is connected through a dock.
- Physical size: A 31.5-inch panel gives more room than a 27-inch one, but it also needs greater viewing distance and desk depth.
- Viewing angle: IPS generally maintains color more consistently off-axis than many conventional VA panels; OLED and Mini LED behavior still depends on the specific model.
- Brightness and room control: A brighter specification does not fix glare. Position the display to avoid windows and use consistent ambient lighting when judging color.
- Warranty: Read the regional policy for burn-in, dead pixels, shipping, registration and repair before treating a warranty as part of the monitor’s value.
What should you check before ordering?
- Write down the delivery spaces for the project—Rec.709, DCI-P3, another P3 variant or a mixed workflow.
- Decide whether you need a 27-inch or 31.5-inch workspace and whether your graphics hardware can drive 3840 × 2160 at the intended refresh rate.
- Choose OLED, IPS or Mini LED based on black-level needs, brightness, static-interface exposure and halo tolerance.
- Verify the manufacturer’s gamut and Delta E claims against independent measurements where available; do not treat a percentage as a complete calibration result.
- Confirm ports, cable requirements, laptop charging and hub behavior from the current regional specification.
- Read the warranty in your country, especially the definition and process for OLED burn-in.
- Plan a calibration and recheck schedule before the first paid project, not after a color dispute.
What are the most common mistakes editors make with a new monitor?
- Using the widest gamut for every job: A wide-gamut mode can make Rec.709 footage appear oversaturated when the application is not color managed.
- Confusing factory accuracy with permanent accuracy: Calibration drifts, modes change and software color management can be misconfigured.
- Judging HDR in an uncontrolled room: Reflections and ambient light can hide shadow detail or encourage excessive display brightness.
- Ignoring static OLED content: Leaving the same timeline and scopes visible for long periods increases the exposure pattern that OLED-care systems are designed to mitigate.
- Buying on resolution alone: A sharp 4K image does not guarantee the correct gamut, contrast behavior, viewing angle or connectivity.
- Assuming every USB-C cable is equivalent: A cable may carry video but not the required data rate or charging power.
The strongest 2026 shortlist is therefore conditional rather than universal: the ASUS PG32UCDM Gen3 leads for premium all-around work, the BenQ PD2732U leads for a creator-oriented IPS and Rec.709-centered workflow, and Mini LED or budget 1440p options make sense only when their specific compromises match your projects and room.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use an OLED monitor for eight-hour editing sessions?
Yes, provided you manage static content rather than leaving an unchanged interface on screen indefinitely. Enable the monitor’s OLED-care features, let compensation cycles complete and vary or hide fixed panels when practical; warranty coverage should still be checked locally because terms differ.
Is DCI-P3 better than Rec.709 for YouTube videos?
Neither is universally better. Rec.709 is the safer target for an SDR deliverable unless the project specification calls for a wider gamut; DCI-P3 coverage is valuable when your camera, grading pipeline and delivery platform are configured for it.
Does USB-C power delivery replace a laptop charger?
Only if the laptop accepts the monitor’s delivered wattage and remains adequately powered under load. The ASUS and BenQ figures are maximum outputs, so compare them with your computer’s requirement and use the manufacturer’s recommended cable and port.
How often should a video-editing monitor be recalibrated?
Set a recurring check based on your workload and the consequences of color error, then recalibrate after changing picture modes, firmware, room lighting or production standards. A calibration schedule is more reliable than assuming the factory profile remains unchanged.
