The best service depends on the exact games, editions, and stores in your library. For a broad PC storefront library, start by checking GeForce NOW. Xbox Cloud Gaming offers a selective way to stream some games you own, while Boosteroid lists paid games that must also be purchased from an official distributor. None guarantees that every game in an account will work. Before subscribing, search each service’s current catalog for the title and edition you own, then confirm your country, device, and plan are eligible.
Which cloud gaming service should you check first?
Start with the service that matches where you own your games, but treat its live catalog—not the size of its advertised library—as the deciding test. GeForce NOW is the clearest first check for supported PC storefront libraries; Xbox Cloud Gaming is worth checking for select owned games in its streaming catalog; Boosteroid is another option when the exact paid title appears on its list.
Cloud gaming runs a game on a remote system and streams the result to your device. It can let you play without installing the game locally, but it does not make a game compatible just because you own it. Services can restrict access by title, store, edition, region, device, plan, and account verification. A purchase on one platform or store should not be treated as a license for another.

- Own games associated with Xbox? Search Xbox Cloud Gaming’s current “Stream your own game” catalog; the owned-game selection is limited, not your whole library.
- Looking at a paid game on Boosteroid? Confirm it is on Boosteroid’s list and that your copy came from an official distributor.
These are compatibility paths, not interchangeable game libraries. A service subscription does not transfer ownership of a game, and ownership alone does not guarantee that a service will stream it.

How do the three services handle games you own?
The key difference is how each service connects access to your existing purchase. GeForce NOW connects supported PC game-store accounts, Xbox Cloud Gaming has a changing selection of owned games alongside its subscription-related offering, and Boosteroid requires a paid game to appear on its list and be owned from an official distributor.
| Service | Owned-game path | Important conditions | What to verify |
|---|---|---|---|
| GeForce NOW | Connect supported PC game-store accounts and stream supported games you own there. | NVIDIA names Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, Ubisoft Connect, Battle.net, EA app, and Xbox. Some games may require store login or ownership verification. Install-to-Play is a separate option for qualifying Steam titles and eligible premium members. | Exact storefront and edition; Ready-to-Play or Install-to-Play; country; plan eligibility; device; and cloud-save support. |
| Xbox Cloud Gaming | Stream select cloud-playable games you own or buy outside Game Pass. | Subscription eligibility, title, region, and platform conditions apply. The selection changes, and some free-to-play access is described separately. | Whether the exact game appears in the current “Stream your own game” catalog, and whether your plan, country, and device qualify. |
| Boosteroid | Play paid games that appear on Boosteroid’s list and that you purchased from an official distributor. | Boosteroid says it does not sell games. Its help information does not establish that every store edition or region works. | Exact game and store listing, plus current device, input, and plan support. |
The table describes each provider’s documented access model, not a guarantee that a particular account or purchase will work. For all three, the service’s current title listing is the most useful starting point; then check the relevant account, region, and device requirements.
Can I play my Steam games on GeForce NOW?
Yes, if the specific game is supported on GeForce NOW and the Steam version in your account meets the game’s launch requirements. Connecting Steam does not turn every game in your library into a cloud-playable title.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesNVIDIA’s FAQ says a player must own or purchase a game from one of the supported game stores before playing it, except for free-to-play games. The FAQ names Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, Ubisoft Connect, Battle.net, EA app, and Xbox among supported store connections. A supported connection is not the same as universal game support: check the title itself and be ready to sign in to a store account or complete ownership verification where required.
What is the difference between Ready-to-Play and Install-to-Play?
Ready-to-Play games are maintained for launch through GeForce NOW. Install-to-Play is for eligible premium members and allows installation of opted-in Steam Cloud Play titles from the member’s own Steam library. It is not a way to install any arbitrary Steam game.
NVIDIA’s support article says an Install-to-Play title needs to be installed in each session unless the user opts for storage. That makes session setup an important distinction if you want to start playing quickly or expect to return to a game across sessions. Check the current service page for the title’s status and the eligibility terms before choosing a plan on the assumption that Install-to-Play will work.

How should I check a Steam title?
- Search the current GeForce NOW games catalog for the exact game title.
- Confirm that the listing corresponds to the store version you own. If the game is listed for multiple stores, do not assume one store’s copy will satisfy another store’s launch path.
- Check whether the title is Ready-to-Play or an Install-to-Play option, and whether your plan qualifies for the latter.
- Review the title’s sign-in and save requirements, then connect the relevant store account and follow the in-service launch prompt.
NVIDIA says availability can vary by country. Catalog status and the supported launch route may change, so make this check close to the time you plan to subscribe or play.

Yes, Xbox Cloud Gaming supports streaming select games that users own or purchase outside Game Pass, but it does not stream every game in an Xbox account. The specific title must be in the current owned-game streaming catalog, and subscription, region, device, and platform conditions apply.
Xbox’s owned-game option is distinct from access to games through a subscription catalog. Do not assume a subscription makes a game you own streamable, or that owning an Xbox version means the game is available to stream. Xbox says game titles, number, features, and availability can vary over time and by region, plan, and platform.
Xbox announced the owned-game streaming option on November 20, 2024, with more than 50 owned-streaming games at launch. That figure describes the launch announcement, not the size of the current catalog. Use Xbox’s live “Stream your own game” listing to check a title rather than relying on the launch count or an old list.
What should Xbox players verify?
- Whether the exact game is currently listed for streaming from an owned copy.
- Whether the subscription or other eligibility terms shown by Xbox apply to your account.
- Whether the country, device, and platform you plan to use are supported.
- Whether your controller or selected game’s touch controls work with that device.
Microsoft’s October 13, 2023 EEA FAQ describes ten-year cloud-streaming commitments for eligible Activision Blizzard games and records agreements with NVIDIA GeForce NOW, Ubitus, Boosteroid, and Nware. This is EEA- and eligible-game-specific context; it does not establish universal availability on a provider today. Check the provider’s current listing for the particular game.

How does Boosteroid work with games you already own?
Boosteroid’s help page says a paid game must be included on its list and purchased from an official distributor. Boosteroid does not sell the games. Its listing and ownership conditions mean you need to check both the service and the account or store where you bought the title.

The help page does not establish compatibility for every edition, storefront, or country. If the game is listed, confirm that the listing matches your purchase and check current device, input, and plan requirements directly with Boosteroid. If the title is absent, owning it from an official store does not by itself establish that it can be played through Boosteroid.
How do I choose the right service for my library?
Make a shortlist from games you actually own, then compare exact compatibility rather than headline catalog size. This avoids paying for a service whose supported games do not match your purchases.
- Write down each game and purchase location. Record the platform or store account where you own it, and distinguish PC storefront ownership from console ownership.
- Search each provider’s current catalog. Look up the exact title, then check the store or version shown. A matching name alone may not confirm a matching edition.
- Check eligibility before choosing a plan. GeForce NOW’s Install-to-Play has premium-member eligibility; Xbox’s owned-game streaming has subscription and other conditions. Confirm the terms currently displayed for your account and country.
- Check the device and controls you will use. Confirm that the service supports the device and that you have a suitable input method. Xbox lists compatible Bluetooth or USB controllers, while selected games support touch controls.
- Review save behavior and sign-in needs. Confirm whether the title uses cloud saves and which game-store or publisher account it requires. Do not assume a save from another platform or edition will be available.
- Recheck just before subscribing or playing. Catalogs, regions, features, and eligibility change; use the provider’s live information rather than an old article or launch announcement.
If only one or two titles matter, choose based on those titles rather than the broadest advertised library. If your shortlist spans several storefronts, a service that connects multiple supported PC stores may be a useful first place to check, but the individual game listing remains decisive.

What do you need for cloud gaming to work well?
At minimum, you need a supported device, a compatible way to control the game, an eligible account or plan where required, and a network connection that meets the service’s guidance. A fast connection cannot compensate for an unsupported title or region.
Xbox’s current Cloud Gaming FAQ gives a minimum download speed of 10 Mbps and says some devices may need 20 Mbps for best quality. These are Xbox’s stated guidance, not a performance guarantee. Actual results can vary with network, location, and device. Check the current service guidance for the device you intend to use.
For Xbox cloud play, the FAQ lists a compatible Bluetooth or USB controller, with touch controls available for selected games. A controller is a practical choice for many games, but the touch-control option means it is not required for every supported title and device. If buying one, confirm compatibility with your device and service before purchase.

Common problems and what to check
- The game is missing from search: Verify the spelling and search the live service catalog. If it is not listed, do not assume ownership makes it available.
- The service lists the game, but launch fails: Check whether the listed store matches your owned copy, then sign in to the required storefront or publisher account and complete any ownership verification.
- You cannot use Install-to-Play: Confirm that the Steam title is opted in, that your membership meets current eligibility, and that you are following the session installation process.
- The game starts but feels poor: Check the service’s connection guidance, device support, and input connection. Xbox’s speed figures are minimum guidance rather than a promise of consistent quality.
- Your progress is missing: Check the game’s cloud-save support and the account used to launch it. Save availability is title- and account-dependent; do not assume saves transfer between platform versions.
How large are the catalogs, and what do the figures mean?
Catalog totals can help describe a service’s breadth, but they do not answer whether your copy of a particular game will work. Treat provider counts as claims about the catalog at a point in time, not as compatibility guarantees or independently audited comparisons.
| Service figure | What it describes | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| GeForce NOW: more than 4,000 games | NVIDIA’s advertised total on its games page, retrieved October 25, 2026. | A vendor-stated total; it does not mean every game is supported in every country or available from every storefront. |
| GeForce NOW: more than 2,200 Install-to-Play titles | NVIDIA’s advertised total on the same page, described as premium-member access. | Check current eligibility and the individual title; not all Steam titles qualify. |
| Xbox: more than 50 owned-streaming games | The Xbox Wire launch announcement of November 20, 2024. | A launch-time count only, not a current catalog total. |
Boosteroid’s cited help information establishes its list-and-ownership rule, but it does not provide a comparable catalog total. There is no like-for-like independent performance benchmark in the cited material, so these figures should not be used to claim that one service is faster or better for every player.
What is the safest way to subscribe without buying the wrong service?
Use a title-first check and treat every purchase as platform-specific until the service proves otherwise. Catalogs and conditions can change, so verify before committing rather than assuming that an old compatibility report still applies.
- Choose the one or more games you most want to play.
- Identify the exact store, platform, and edition you own for each.
- Search the current catalog for each candidate service and record the supported launch path.
- Confirm plan eligibility, country, and device support in the service’s current information.
- Check input and save expectations, then try the service’s account connection or launch flow if available before making a longer-term decision.
If no service lists the exact game and copy you own, the available evidence does not support subscribing on the assumption that it will work. Wait for a listing or choose a different supported title or access method.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do cloud gaming services install the game on my computer?
Generally, cloud play runs the game on a remote system and streams it to your device, rather than requiring the full game to run locally. GeForce NOW’s Install-to-Play option is a specific exception in how the session is prepared: eligible users install an opted-in Steam title in the cloud session, with storage behavior governed by the service.
Recommended Free Tools
Will my save carry over from console to PC cloud gaming?
Do not count on it without checking the game itself. Save transfer depends on the game, the platform versions, and the accounts involved; the service’s support for a title does not establish cross-platform save compatibility.
Can I use a physical game disc for cloud gaming?
The service rules described here focus on supported digital storefront accounts, a game listed in the streaming catalog, or a purchase from an official distributor. They do not establish that a disc is a qualifying license, so check the provider’s exact eligibility terms for the game before relying on disc ownership.
Are cloud gaming game catalogs permanent?
No catalog should be treated as permanent. Providers note that title availability and features can change over time and by region, plan, or platform, so recheck the listing when you are ready to play.
